THE UNIQUE LUNA

CHAPTER 1

I am in the middle of reading an online werewolves' novel when I felt a tug on my right sleeve. There, I saw my two best friends, Nina Wales and Bella Scott, in likely on their silent argument. Nina has a very wide grin on her face while Bella is scowling at her.

I shrugged my shoulder because this is not the first time they were in fight. By looking at them, you will know that they have a very opposite personality. Nina is a happy-go-lucky type of girl who will just go with the flow on her surroundings while Bella is a serious type of girl who always thinks before her act. They were friends because I am the one that connects them.

"What is the matter with you girls? Are you in fight again or something?" I asked with curiosity of the new reason of their fight. "I almost finish my book so this is must worth my time." I ranted at them.

"Damn! Those werewolf's novels again." They said in unison and make a disgusted face at me.

I put down my phone and crossed my arms. "So what is it?" I asked again that makes Nina start to squeal like a pig. I almost cover my ears.

"Don't say it, Nina!" Bella said at her in a warning tone.

"Come on, Bella! She has right to know!" Nina contradicted her. "As her friend, she has the right to know about the good news!"

Good news?

"Good news?" I repeated. "Why Bella would react that is not very good news."

"She is just grumpy because you will able to date now or maybe got a boyfriend." Nina reasoned out.

I gaped at her."Huh? What? Me?" I said in confused. "How would I get a boyfriend?"

Nina leaned into my ears and whispered. "We heard that Louis has a crush on you! You dearest crush is into you!" She said in very cheerful tone.

I stiffened and tried to sink in what she said.

"Louis? As in Louis Carter?" I asked confirming who she was talking.

She nodded very fast while grinning from ear to ear.

"O.M.G.!" I squealed.

Louis Carter is one of the popular guys in our campus. He got many admirers from inside and outside of school and you can count me in as one of his fan girls.

"Oh my gosh! Are you sure? No way!" I said trying not to raise my hopes up.

"Uh huh! Bella and I heard him talking to his friends. He is asking them advice to ask you out!" Nina cheerfully said and slapped my shoulder. "Damn! Freya, why you're so lucky?"

Bella pushed Nina away from me. "Reject him, Freya. I bet that is a bet." She said at me with full of concern. "All knows how much you like him. You followed all his social media account, actively like/heart his posts and sometimes shared his pictures. As in seriously, Freya? Will you believe that he will like you?"

"Argh!  Bella, you're ruining the mood!" Nina said and scowled at her. "Why don't you just be happy for her?"

Bella patted Nina's hands away from me. "Freya, I am warning you as your friend."

I sighed. I know that there is a chance this is just a bet. I am not that pretty. I am just ordinary girl in the middle of crowd of girls.

"I understand your concern, Bella." I said to Bella and gave her a small smile.

Suddenly, Nina was secretly elbowing me in my sides and pouted her lips into the entrance of the cafeteria.

"Speaking of him." Bella whispered while grunting.

I feel my nerves when I saw Louis was taking steps towards our direction. "He is going here! He's here!" Nina secretly announced.

"I—Is my make up still okay?" I nervously asked my friends.

"Yeah, yeah." Bella answered uninterested.

"You're good." Nina said while making thumbs up in both hands.

"Hi Freya." Louis greeted me.

I smiled at him trying to act natural and don't know his intention.

"Hello Louis." I greeted him back. "Do you need something with us?" I politely asked him.

He looked at his friends then shyly holds his nape. "I want to ask you for a night out. Joe, my best friend, is having birthday party today. You can bring your friends with you if you feel uncomfortable to be alone with us." He invited.

I looked to my friends as if I’m asking their opinion. "We'll go!" Nina answered accepting his invitation that makes Bella gave a glare at her.

"So see you tonight." Louis said before he left with his friends.

"What is wrong with you, Nina?" Bella ranted. "Why do you accept it? I need to finish my report in History tonight!"

"Then don't go." Nina fights back. "It is better if you are not there anyways!"

"If I won't go, Freya will also not coming." Bella insists.

"Who are you? Her mother?" Nina argued back.

I massaged my temple. I feel like having a headache by listening to their arguments.

"I think this is not a good idea." Bella said it almost twenty times and convincing us to go back home. “I have a very bad feeling about this. Do you know that there are many police report of missing person in our area in these past few days?”

"Come on, Bella! We're already here!" Nina gleefully said. “And stop saying nonsense! You will scare us!”

When we are arrived, I gulped when I saw many students from our campus were also invited. Of course, he invited me but doesn't mean that we are the only one.

"Girls! You're finally here." Louis said when he saw us. "I've been waiting!" He added and stand beside me.

I saw how other girls glared at my direction."Sorry for being late." I apologized. "We waited Bella to finish her report before we come here."

"It's fine at least you have come! I almost think you forgot my invitation." Louis said shyly at me.

Louis guides us towards their table. His friends were there kissing some other girls. I saw how Bella's face become disgusted to the way they were kissing. It’s like they eating each other faces.

"Guys, stop it!" Louis shouted to them. "Freya and her friends were already here."

Joe immediately pulled away to his girl then waved a hand at us. "Welcome girls!" He welcomed us. “Thank goodness! You’re here. I almost think Louis come here for Freya and not because it’s my birthday. He stays at the entrance for three hours waiting.”

“Shut up, dude!” Louis interfered and then shyly looked at me. “Please don’t mind what he said.”

I felt my face heated. Louis is so cute.

I cleared my throat. "Happy birthday, Joe." I said to Joe to change our topic. "Thanks for inviting us."

"Oh thanks." He answered then looked at Bella somehow he is expecting that she will greet him.

"What?" Bella said then raised an eyebrow at him.

Joe shakes his head and shyly holds his nape.

"I think Joe likes Bella." Nina whispered and looked like she doesn't like that idea. “I can’t believe someone would like her. She’s a robot!”

I elbowed her. “Hey, Bella is fine. She is much prettier and brighter compare to other girls.”

“If you say that I can’t argue anymore.” Nina said and rolled her eyes at me.

We seated besides Joe and Louis. They were asking us our interests and hobbies so I tell them how I love werewolves’ novels. “Why love werewolves?” Louis asked out of his curiosity. “How are about vampires?”

I fiddled my point fingers. “I like the idea that there is a hierarchy in werewolves’ community. They only follow their leader and serve him loyally. I also love the idea of soul mates. Every werewolf was destined to only their mates. They will only love one person that is their mate and cheating is a very serious crime in their community.”

“Wow.” Louis commented. “I didn’t know that there would be such a community. If I were born a werewolf, maybe Freya is my mate.”

I bit my lips to stop myself from smiling. He is just admitted that he likes me in idea that I am his mate. Louis is so adorable.

“It is just a novel. The reality is far from books.” Bella interrupted. “There is no such perfect community.”

“Bella, Bella, Bella.” Nina said while shaking her head. “You’re ruining the mood again. Can’t you read the atmosphere?”

“What? I’m just saying the truth. There are no werewolves or vampires. It is just a fictional character.” Bella depended herself.

“Freya is not saying they were actually true. She is just love the idea of their community. That’s it!” Nina countered.

I hold my head again after listening to their nonstop arguments. “Girls, please not now.” I said. “Give me a break!”

Then a set of drinks were placed in front of us. “We haven’t order drinks yet.” I said to the server.

“It’s on the house.” He said smiling in creepily way before he left.

“B-B-But…”

“It’s fine! We got free drinks anyway!” Nina said. “Thanks for the drinks.” She shouted to the server as he waved at us.

After few hours of partying, Nina got too much drink and kept on dancing on the dance floor. She even starts talking some other Louis and Joe's friend. I cupped my head when my vision started to blurry. I only got one drink to be drunk.

"I'll go to comfort room." I informed Bella who is keeping herself awake.

While walking to comfort room, I feel that my body is starting to numb. I almost lost my balance while walking. My knees are getting weak and I think I can no longer keep myself stand. 

"What is happening?" I asked myself.

Then everything went blank.
