Night Out
“Hey Melissa, you're covering me tonight right?” was the first thing Melissa heard as soon as she came back to the office from her lunch break. It was Betty and she always did this. She knew Melissa hated too much attention and by putting the latter on the spot like that, it was going to be much easier to get her to accept. Melissa looked at Betty silently. It was nerve-wracking knowing that everyone's eyes were riveted on her waiting for her response. And when she shook her head, she almost felt like she was in a live action comedy where the audience lets out a general gasp. Betty raised one perfectly trimmed brow and asked, “What was that?” Melissa knew Betty had caught her nod. She was just being difficult. “No, Betty,” Melissa reiterated quietly, making Betty frown carefully. “No? But today's Friday, Melissa! You know I have a date with Rick every Friday!” Betty whined. Ricky was Betty's Rick bad boy gentleman boyfriend whom everyone knew did not exist. Betty loved to be the centre of attention and would do everything to be in. “I can't today,” Melissa repeated and continued typing on the computer in front of her. “What? You finally got a life? Just on the day I have a date?” Betty said cruelly making Melissa blush in embarrassment. “Betty, just find someone else so you can go and meet the boyfriend we all know doesn't exist,” was Melissa's quiet barb. She knew it was the wrong thing to say as soon as it came out from her mouth. But Betty was refusing to take a hint. Betty blushed and shot Melissa a glare, the only sign of anger then flipped her Kardashian dark hair and went to her desk. It was so quiet in the office as everyone had been watching the “drama” between Betty and Melissa. That was the life working in a lifestyle magazine. They minded each other's business. Like a lot. Melissa let out a sigh of relief when nobody approached her and continued her work, ignoring the whispers about how she “finally grew a pair, oh my God!” Melissa shook her head. She hadn't grown a pair. That was ridiculous, both literally and figuratively. All she wanted to do was finally have some fun. *** “Wait, you shot her down in front of the whole office?” Michael asked with wonder in his voice. It was ten pm and Michael, Melissa's best friend had called her, wanting to know all about her day. “Yes and now I'm scared for my life. Mike please get me a fake identity and a passport. You're a cop. It'd be easy,” Melissa replied, trying to apply mascara to her false lashes. “I'm sorry Melissa. Seeing you die because of Betty's death glares is something I want to experience before I die,” he teased, making Melissa roll her eyes. She put down her phone and applied her lipstick, trying not to get it around her mouth. “You mad?” Michael asked, when he didn't receive a reply from her. “Not mad, just getting ready.” “Getting ready? Melissa, it's ten thirty pm. Where the hell are you going to? And without me?” “Byeee Mikeee,” was all Melissa said then she hung up the phone. Mike was extremely overprotective, and it sounded strange but he was the father figure in her life. Sometimes, it was okay, but other times, like now, it was an absolute pain. After applying her lipstick perfectly and cross checking whether her dress wouldn't ride up if she bent down to, for example, grind on someone (yes that was planned), Melissa was good to go. Melissa hailed a cab to The Tavern, one of the hottest clubs in the city and definitely one of the most expensive (who said money didn't buy happiness?). In about twenty minutes, she had reached, after almost falling asleep in the taxi. She got out, straightened her dress and headed towards the entrance of the club. The line was not that long because she was relatively early. But she didn't care. Tonight she was going to get hammered and she didn't care how many hours it took her to get to that state. A meager thirty minutes later, Melissa had gotten in. She headed straight for the bar, knowing that she was not going to dance if she didn't have what they called liquor courage. She ordered a gin and tonic and proceeded to sip on it until someone whistled behind her. She looked up and met the eyes of a handsome man. He was quite literally perfection, and even the neon lights in the club did not wash out his beauty. “Can I buy you a drink, beautiful?” he asked and Melissa blushed, but nodded. She asked the bartender for another gin and finished it in less time than she had consumed the first one. An hour, three drinks and a whole lot of flirting later, Melissa was on the dance floor with the handsome brunet who had bought her the drinks. In spite of whatever he thought and whatever she wanted, she was not going home with him tonight. Or maybe she hadn't planned that far into the future. Both of them were tipsy but were still able to dance quite provocatively. To those watching them, it was almost like they were having s*x on the dance floor. Almost as if they were in some sort of silent accord, both of them moved to the bar once the song they were dancing to was changed. “You come here often?” Melissa asked, putting on her most seductive air. All it did was make the stranger laugh. Melissa laughed along with him. She was a bit, or a lot drunk and in that moment, she didn't really care about embarrassing herself. “You want to leave?” the guy asked and Melissa nodded enthusiastically. It was almost as if all rational thought had flown through the window. All Melissa wanted was him. He removed his phone from his pocket and texted someone– Melissa was surprised he could still text– then held out his hand to her. She took and they went out, standing in front of the club. It was a bit chilly, but Melissa didn't mind, not even bothering to ask whatever they were waiting for. Simply they were waiting. A few minutes later, a black car parked in front of them. The stranger opened the door for her and she struggled to get in, not wanting her dress to ride up. “Can you see my ass?” she asked, halfway in the vehicle. “Yes, it's right in front of me,” he replied not really understanding her question. Melissa wiggled into the car quickly and finally got in. After a few fumbled attempts, the stranger got in too and the car took off. Melissa thought of asking where they were going to but the stranger took out a bottle of whiskey from god-knows-where and the question was quickly forgotten. The only thing on her mind was finally having fun. After taking a swig of the whiskey, Melissa went to the stranger's side. She straddled him awkwardly, still managing to make it sexy though, and stared at him through sultry half-lidded eyes. He put his hands on her waist and connected their lips. Melissa responded just as passionately and without even wanting, found herself grinding on him. After a while, their lips left each other, making Melissa release a small laugh. The stranger chuckled too, both of them quite literally out of breath. "Where are we going to?" Melissa finally asked. She tried to leave the stranger's laps, but his warm hands on her waist held her firmly in place. "My place," he said, then placed a small kiss on Melissa's neck, trying to find her soft spot. As soon as he touched it, Melissa gasped and threw her neck back. The stranger grinned imperceptibly and started suckling it. Melissa out her hands around his neck and wantonly ground on him, trying to get as much friction as possible. The guy's hands left her waist and trailed up slowly to her boobs. He squeezed them softly and Melissa moaned, not caring who was hearing. Their lips met again in a clash of passion. Melissa's hands were no longer on the stranger's neck. They were now in his hair, pulling with the same intensity she was feeling. "We're here sir," was what made them to scramble away from each other. They looked at each other and laughed awkwardly. The stranger got out of the car and held his hand out for an unstable Melissa. She took his hand and followed him. The building looked really nice, but that was not Melissa's concern at the moment. All she wanted in the moment was to reach the stranger's apartment fast enough so they could finish what they had started. They were holding each other's hands and Melissa giggled when she almost fell with her heels on. She slipped them off, and as she was about to kiss the stranger, someone got into the elevator. She was drunk, yes. But it was literally a pain to stop herself from jumping all over the stranger and ravaging the f**k out of him. And apparently he was thinking the same thing because he put his hand on her ass and squeezed. Both of them laughed, making the man in front of them to turn back and shoot them a strange look. They paid him no mind. Soon, he went off. Strangely enough, Melissa and her stranger kept their hands to themselves, preferring to exhange fiery and needy looks. The space between them was not a lot. But it felt like a million miles when all they were itching to do was to tear each other's clothes off. As soon as the elevator stopped at the penthouse, it was like a dam had Burt's. Both of them fell on each other, kissing like there was no tomorrow. At that point, Melissa knew she was going to be sore the next day. But she didn't even mind. It was going to be worth it. Hopefully.
