It was twelve years ago when my life changed dramatically the first time round. My parents left one evening for their usual monthly date night. They'd left met at home. Alone. They never came back. I was six.

I'm Emily Pearson and this is the story of how I found out who my mother was.

There she was. Right in front of me. My mate. The one I'd been looking for. I could tell her here and now. I really could. But she deserves better than to find out down an alley. Her wrist was still in my hand. I could feel her pulse. I could hear her heart pounding in her chest, I heard it slow as I stepped back. I still held her wrist. I didn't want to let go. I couldn't pull my gaze from hers. Her beautiful storm cloud coloured eyes.

I'm Samuel Carson and this is the story of my hidden mate and her hidden wolf.

Chapter One
Emily P.O.V         It was twelve years ago when my life changed dramatically the first time round. My parents left one evening for their usual monthly date night. They'd left me at home alone. They never came back. I was six.         Two or three days passed before anyone came to the house. I'd been crying, curled up in a ball at the bottom of the stairs when there was a knock at the door. I ignored it and carried on sobbing. The next thing I know is that there's a man kneeling in front of me. He had a kindly face, even though he looked scared and worried.         "It's okay; no need to be scared. I'm Chris, the pack beta. You must be Emily."         Chris picked me up gently and took me through to the kitchen where he placed me on one of the chairs before starting to rummage in the cupboards. After a few minutes he handed me a bowl of cereal. Dry. No milk. Just how I like it. He left me there to eat my cereal and disappeared upstairs. I could hear his footsteps above me in my room. After a while he came back down with a large stuffed suitcase and my only teddy.         "Come on little one. You're going to have a little adventure with me. How would you like to see the pack house?"         " Is that where mummy and daddy are? They never came back."         "We'll talk about it later with the Alpha, Steven."         After a short car journey we arrived at a large house in the middle of the countryside. I grabbed Chris' large fingers in my tiny hand and held my teddy close. He led me through the house to an office where a dark haired man with brown eyes sat behind a desk.         "What did you find Chris?" He asked without glancing in our direction.         "They took all they're clothes and valuables. Their scent disappeared inside the door. There's no trace of them except..."         "Except what Chris?" The man behind the desk growled, finally looking up "Ah." His face softened when he looked at me.         "Except their daughter, Emily sir."         "Hello Emily, I'm Steven, your Alpha. Do you have any idea where your parents could be?" He spoke to me gently.         "N...no sir. They left for their normal date night and never came back sir." My voice was small and wavering.         "How many days have you been alone?"         "Two. Maybe three sir."         "Christ!" He said loudly, running his hand through his hair looking at the ceiling, "What kind of parents leave a six year old home alone for half an hour let alone knowing they weren't coming back?! Any other relatives?"         "Only Susan and Patrick, her grandparents. Not that they've ever met her sir." Responded Chris.         "It's not ideal as they can't shift, they'll struggle when she comes of age. If she'll even be able to shift that is, her mother never did."         "I could take her sir, raise her with my son. She at least knows me and I can protect her."         "I couldn't ask you to do that, Kyle is enough for you to handle as it is. Her grandparents will have to handle it. We can't have her here. Take her to them and explain the situation."         "Yes sir." Chris turned to leave taking me with him.         "Oh and ... Chris"         "Yes sir?"         "Check in on her from time to time, I never did trust those two. She won't be allowed back until she's eighteen."         An hour later I'm sat at a table in front of two strangers, in a strange house eating a ham sandwich. It wasn't easy at first. I cried myself to sleep almost every night, but my grandparents turned out to be fair people. Not kind or loving but not unkind or cruel either. I went to school as normal and then did my chores when I got home before doing my homework. The list of chores grew longer and longer with each passing year. Chris came by every few months to see me, at first his son, Kyle came too but that stopped when I hit my teen years. I never did shift or hear from my wolf so I assumed that I didn't have one.
