Gyeonggi Rascal :1
Gyeonggi Rascal - SKOR It was another busy day at Gyeonggi province. Locals yelled first thing in the morning, salesmen setting their tents up for business while housewives light up the chimney for heat during this cool weather. After all, winter season was soon to arrive. All the people busied theirselves with their daily schedule, unlike a certain lad who'd wish for nothing more in the world rather than to sleep all day and dream about his fantasies. If only he could spend just even one day laying at bed, doing nothing for once without anyone pestering him to do their personal errands. "Arlo Kase Channing!" A shrill of terror reaches the lad's ears, and without a second to waste. Arlo bolts up his bed and jumps out the window before his barbaric mother comes splashing him with melted, ice-cold water used to preserve fish at their local wet market. He fetchs his fishing rod in a second before running down the hill to reach the shore. Looking back at his window while rubbing the morning booger out his eye, as expected Mother Heather had a bucket filled with blood mixed water ready to hug the skin of the boy. His body shivered in disgust reminiscing the first time the dirty water splashed directly into his face, fishes' guts nearly entering his mouth, the blood stained his top, it took weeks for the smell to wash off. And for years, he's been dodging the same punishment. "You better not come back empty-handed ya' little rascal, you hear me!" He hears her yelling out the window. He spins to face the angry woman with his fishing rod tightly pressed onto his chest, "Aye Ma'am." He salutes her before he scurries away with an evil grin playing on his lips. Arlo, the devilish rascal in town—known for his silly lies, and dirty tricks he'd pull. He always had his sinister laugh and mischievous smile on his face but despite the way he acts, his schemes would never hurt a single fly. Also the reason why he isn't yet put up as wanted in their little town. Nobody had anything against him, even if they wanted. All of those were just for fun to cherish his moments as a youth. There lies his love, carelessly being thrusted back and forth by the wave. It's weight seemingly deceiving to one's eye as if it weights a hundred locks of feather, only physics could explain on how she could stay up the surface, but I guess it'll remain a mystery since I failed that subject. Arlo approached the aged assemble of timber that seemed to be holding up well than most of the elders he's seen on town. "Was the storm last night too much for you to handle? You seemed wrecked than the last time I saw you." Arlo whispered while his hand danced above the material, feeling the rough texture of it. "Pull it together love! Losing you, will make me lose my head." He chuckles before pushing the boat offshore to start his adventure. Or so, he describes it as an adventure. After reaching a far distance, he jumps onboard and starts paddling to a more deeper depth, where all the fishes swims freely assuming no sort of harm would come amongst them. At this point in his life, it would officially classify that this is Arlo's daily job, and as payment he would receive a delicious 3 course meal from the woman he calls Mother as-well as a roof to sleep on. But, payments cut short since he keeps waking up late, in results of him missing the important meal of the day, but it's fine to him. It wasn't an option rising every five in the morning. As long as he doesn't go back with a bucket only filled with bait worms then he's safe for that day. He gives them what they want, and they give him back what he wants in return, it's a balanced reciprocity so he'll be able to survive. Satisfied with his surroundings, he lies his back on the boat while he looks over Gyeonggi Town that could be barely seen considering the distance between them. As always, his sleep was interrupted and he was still pretty exhausted after all it was only six in the morning. To compensate for that, a little rest wouldn't hurt right? His pairs shut close and he tries to find sleep in the middle of nowhere. It was peaceful and quiet, unlike their little town there. The folks there would do nothing but yell, shout, bargain and repeat. You wouldn't miss to catch the saliva forming in their mouth when they do so. It's disgusting. Arlo detaches his arms from his stomach and searches for his second favorite piece of timber. A smile dawns on his lips after feeling it. He pulls it up to his chest and starts strumming on the four strings of his ukulele creating a soothing melody to his ears. Just the waves and the melody. Who knew it could be so mesmerizing? Absentmindedly, he starts humming to the tune while his fingers pressed against the strings for chords that followed the melody. The boy got so immersed into the music that the purpose of him floating in a boat in the middle of nowhere wandered off his mind. Not until the boat clashes against a single wave throwing his fishing rod off board. "No!" He yells, trying to grab a hold of his tool before it sunkens deeper into the water. He breathes out, "Great." Before banging his head onto the wood. Another harsh wave clashes into the boat, throwing the boy off board. Terror filled his system, once his neck submerges into the water, following his face. He can't float, he can't swim. The boy struggles to lift his body up the surface but the force of gravity keeps pulling him down. He could feel his body drowning into an abyss. Helplessly, losing the last huff of air his lungs could hold, his eyes slowly shuts close. Who knew something you loved so dearly will someday be the cause of your death. As his body slowly drifts further from the surface, the last feeling of a strong impact of an underwater wave crash towards his face before he passes out.
