"And this year's homecoming king is…Wesley Rush!" Everybody cheered as Wesley was supposed to go up to the stage, but kept glancing between Bianca and Madison, his homecoming queen standing alone on the stage. "Wesley Rush" The principal called out once again his voice holding an urging undertone laced with irritation. "Wesley!" Madison said in a harsh tone wanting him to come join her on the stage to celebrate their high school victory. He looked back at Bianca, his eyes holding love and adoration as he gave a warm smile at her. "Aren't you going to go get your crown?" She asked him confused, as he just stood there looking at her. He shook his head and took big steps towards her with the warm smile still on his face. "No, I'm going go get the girl" He said and as he reached her, he leaned down and pulled her into a tight embrace, his arms snaking around her waist as she reached up to circle her arms around his broad shoulders, her fingers playing with the nape of his hair, as they kissed each other ever so gently. "EWWWW!" L.J said as she stopped the movie right then and there. She shook her head, and rubbed her eyes, trying to get that image out of her mind. "That was too gross" She said and switched to the sports channel, rather watching football than The D.U.F.F. A knock on her door had her jumping up, tripping over her own furniture as she rushed to open it for her guests. As she reached out to pull on the metal handle to open the door it swung open nearly smashing her flat against the wall if she didn't jump back in time. Three guys tumbled into her house through the small doorway, and she rolls her eyes at the childish grown teenagers fighting over some dumb game like they were five years old. "Well, ok. Come right in then, it's not like you guys nearly just killed me" She joked as her three best friends laughed,falling down on the huge couch, that seemed smaller all of a sudden. She joined them, diving onto their laps, turning onto her back, and smiled. They all grunted in sync, pretending she was fat. "Damn L.J how much do you weight?" Cameron asked her as she lifted up her leg, lightly hitting him in the jaw with her knee,making him chuckle. "You should rather ask how much she eats a day"Shane teased and Cam chuckles, along with Aaron. "We all know she could eat a whole cow if she wanted to" L.J faked a gasp at that statement and sat up a little straighter. "I do not eat that much!" She tries to fight back but they all just started laughing at her serious face. L.J couldn't help but crack a smile and soon she started laughing along with the rest of them her face lighting up at the joy she felt. They all calmed down and just took a beat gaining their breaths again, but big smiles still staying on all of their faces. "What do you guys want to do today?" She asks, and they all look at each other with questionable faces. "I don't know, it is the last day of summer before our senior year, so we should do something memorable" "We could always go and T.P the principals house?"Cam said getting excited at the idea of throwing wet rolls of two ply at someone's house. Aaron, Shane and L.J all groaned at the mention of the mundane idea and everyone sat quietly, trying to come up with something great to do. L.J sat in silence trying to come up with an idea, but all she could think about was the next day, and how that would lead to her future.Everything was about to change for them, and she wondered if they would still be friends in twenty years' time. She remembered the first time she met these guys, and how much time they spent together since then. It was her first day of kindergarten and she was more than happy to start her life adventure of playing, eating and sleeping all day long. That day started off with finger-painting and getting small cookies cut into different types of forms from the teacher. L.J loved it so far and didn't think she would ever want to leave this heavenly place. It was around play time that she realized that she didn't fit in quite well with the girls there. L.J took one look at the barbie doll in front her and stood up, leaving the small group of girls behind her to go and explore. She came across three boys playing on the jungle gym,pretending to be pirates sailing a ship. She climbed the ladder and stood still when she realized they stopped playing looking at her with confused faces. "Ahoy mate!"The one boy yelled. He seemed to be the captain in the game. She laughed at his funny voice he used, and the boy smiled at her, revealing his missing front tooth his eyes sparkling with childlike joy. "Can I play with you guys?" She asked, and the boys shared glances with each other that she couldn't figure out what it meant. "Just give us a few seconds, please" The one boy said and all three of them ran towards the edge of the jungle gym, hunching forward, making a small circle like they were planning a football strategy. They all nodded, and she couldn't help but feel a little bit nervous. She really wanted to make some friends here. The boys walked towards her, and the dark haired one held out his hand for her to shake. "You can play with us" He says, and she smiles at them all, as they returned the sweet gesture. "I'm Shane, this is Cameron, and that is Aaron" The boy said pointing at each one of them. "I'm L.J"She said and gave a small wave. They played the day away, and when the time came to take a nap, they all spread out their tiny mattresses next to each other and kept talking about everything, and anything. "Where do you guys live?" L.J asks them, and Cam sat up straight, kicking his blanket off of his body. "We all live in the big place with all the houses next to each other" He said, and L.J's eyes widened. "We're moving there this weekend!" She yelled a little too loudly, and the teacher shushed them, hissing like a cobra snake. "What number house are you moving into, L.J?" Aaron asked her, and she thought deeply for a while trying to remember how to pronounce the big number. "Number-twenty" She said, and the guys smiled at her, looking really excited. "Really?"Cam asked his voice filled with glee. "Shane lives in number twenty-one, Cam lives in number twenty-two, and I live in twenty-three" Aaron says and she smiles brightly at them. "We're going to be neighbors soon!" She whispers yelled, not wanting the teacher to yell at them again. "We're going to be best friends" Shane said, and they all smiled, talking about what games they could play and who will be the leader of the group. L.J felt comforted by the fact that she would have friends to play with when her mom and dad were busy with work, like they were all the time. Her mother is a doctor and her father is a lawyer so they were almost never around, leaving her with the nanny. She was just glad that she didn't have to feel alone anymore. "L.J!" Shane yelled, giving her one firm shake on the shoulders, snapping her out of her little dream world. "What do you think of the plan?" Cam asks her, and she raises an eyebrow at him. "What plan?" L.J reply's, and they all groan. "You never listen, do you?" Aaron laughed at her and she rolled her eyes at him. "Did you guys figure out what we're doing tonight?" She asks, and Shane jabs his fingers into her sides hitting the one tickle spot on her body that he figures out about in primary school. They all went to the same school since the first day they met. Miami Lakes Suburban area has a great education system and built three schools next to each other,kindergarten, primary school and the high school. L.J and the boys grew closer each day to the point where their parents all started being good friends as well. L.J's father actually knew Cameron's father from work long before they were all born but they drifted apart due to work and haven't been in touch fora while, but when L.J told her parents about the boy that goes to school with her and lives right next door to her, they decided to pay a visit to the new neighbors, soon discovering that it was their old friends, and so the bond was revived between them. "Well, if you had listened in the first place you would know what the plan is, but I will tell you anyway because you are my friend,and I love you" Shane rested his hands-on top of L.J's stomach looking down at her revising the plan. "We're going to go out and have some fun, and party the night away" "Getting drunk, and going to school the next day hungover?" She asks, and they all nod looking excited at the idea of dancing to loud music and drinking weird concoctions that is made by a wannabe-bartender failing his math. She contemplates the suggestion and she scrunches up her nose, bouncing her head from side to side, thinking if it would be fun to go with them. If she was to stay home, she could grab a tub of ice cream and watch action movies and play video games all night getting brain freeze from chowing down the cookie dough ice cream too fast or she could go out with them and get free booze and make fun of drunk teens with Shane like they usually do.She looks to the boys and they were all waiting in anticipation for her answer,which was making her wonder if she should pretend to think about her decision for a while longer to test their patience. She shook her head and smirked, and the boys started smiling in return, knowing L.J all too well. "Sounds great" She says and gets up, running to her room upstairs, quickly getting dressed in a white tank top and black ripped skinny jeans, pulling on an over-sized hoodie with the words 'forget about it'printed in big white bold letters, and finally she pulled on some Nike airs.When she got downstairs again, they all got into Shane's matte black Jeep and drove off to a house party, their fellow classmates were throwing this evening.On the drive there, L.J got the boy's attention and laid down some ground rules. "One, please no making out with mean girls. Two, no fist fights tonight alright. Three, I don't want to see any of your faces in the newspaper tomorrow morning for getting arrested because you burnt down the house, you guys got it!" She counted down on her fingers, keeping her voice firm and strict, making eye contact with each one of them, even with Shane in the rear-view mirror, not breaking the tension once. "Yes, mam" They all say together, knowing the rules by now, but for some reason can't always follow them. L.J leaned back in her seat enjoying the smooth drive shoving all the thoughts about the future out of her mind and only lived in the moment,with her friends right now. She was going to think about tomorrow when it came,and then she would figure out what she was going to do, taking it step by step.She looked at all three of them and smiled. Right now, though, she just wanted to hang out with her best friends and have fun.
