Chapter 2 - Pancakes and bacon

Star Was it supposed to ache like that? “Goodnight.” I quickly said and turned around. He took the other pillow and plopped himself down on the floor. Now what did I do? He was doing what he said he was going to do if we stayed in my room. Only he was inside the bedroom! The big question was, did I want him next to me? “Star! Stop this nonsense, you cannot let the poor man sleep on the floor!” My conscience shouted at me, and I sat up in bed. “What are you doing Luc?” He opened one eye to look at me. “Trying to sleep. Now go to sleep.” He closed his eye again. “Well, you can’t sleep on the floor. Get up and get into bed.” I kind of ordered him. I ordered a wolf! “No, Star of mine, not until you are ready.” He didn’t move a millimetre. Stupid wolf! I jumped out of bed and stood over him. “If you don’t get into bed I am going to sleep on the floor as well.” I threatened him. “You will do no such thing!” He growled, opening both his eyes this time. The green turned a lighter shade of gray. “Well then, get into bed with me. I know you won’t do anything that you know will make me uncomfortable.” He sighed and stood up. Picking me up, he put me back into bed. I was about to protest when I saw him walking around the bed back to where he was sleeping before, but when he returned to my left side, he climbed underneath the covers and pulled me close to him. I was relieved. It felt good when he held me so tight against him. It was warm, which was nice, seeing as I was always cold. I could feel his hardness growing behind my back and fear started growing inside me. “Don’t worry angel. I am attached to you and would love to make love to you as soon and as long as your body can handle, but as I said before, I will respect your wishes. My body is just reacting to yours being so close to me. I will calm down as soon as I fall asleep, I promise.” He stayed true to his word and soon the huge bulge disappeared from behind me. I could hear his steady breathing and softly turned around, careful not to wake him. I studied his face, each wrinkle. He had the all-familiar what-the-f**k frown lines, which I probably also had. He started showing laugh lines around the sides of his eyes. I would have to ask him how old he was. He had full, soft, pink lips. His face was a kind one. I fell asleep with that thought in my mind. We woke up the next morning in the same position we fell asleep in. “Morning, Star of mine.” He smiled, looking into my eyes and gave me a chaste kiss. “Morning Luc.” I smiled back, blushing when he kissed me. “What do you feel like doing today? The pack is still away, and we don’t have our normal training or wolf duties, so I am yours, literally.” He had not let go of me yet. “Maybe we should start with breakfast?” I asked, as my stomach agreed with a big growl which made him laugh. “Breakfast it is then.” He turned around in bed, pulling me up and over him, and picked me up bridal style when he stood up. I was completely flabbergasted. “Don’t worry Star, I promised that I would wait until you are ready, and that is what I will do. For now, I am going to treat you like the princess you are.” He smiled at me, and that ache returned again in my privates. My hand was on his chest, and I could feel his hot body and muscles move, feeling like electricity running through me. He put me down in the bathroom. “Do you need anything from the room first?” He looked at me, pointing to the room. “Nope, I’m good thanks.” I smiled shyly, and he left, closing the door behind him. Luc “Our mate is beautiful.” Rudi sighed as I fell backwards onto the bed. “Yes, my friend, she is. She is precious, nothing like that wench Helena!” I rolled my eyes, thinking of the girl we knew from the orphanage. We thought her to be our mate, but somehow she faked everything! “Luc! Stop that! Helena is in the past. We have a second chance, and she is … I don’t even have words to describe her. I don’t know how we are going to do this, but we will have to wait until she is ready. We don’t want to hurt her, scare her away or, worse, do anything that would make her reject us!” Star When I walked out of the bathroom, Luc jumped off the bed standing up, looking like a little boy who had been doing something he wasn’t supposed to. “What?” I asked, wondering if there was something wrong with my outfit or my hair, or maybe he didn’t like my hair! “Nothing, Star. You just take my breath away each time I see you.” He recovered quickly, smiling at me. I didn’t know, of course, but I would eventually get to know him and his ways. Luc left to shower and get dressed. I looked at myself in the mirror, wondering what was wrong. I was wearing a short denim jumpsuit, with one side not clipped in, like I usually did. My hair was up in a high ponytail and probably looked like some other prancing fantasy horse! I rolled my eyes at myself. My make-up consisted of clear gloss, making my pink lips shine, and I wore soft pink eye shadow and blue eyeliner. I didn’t like having heavy make-up on my face like some girls. I whipped around when I heard the shower stop. My heart beat a mile a minute. There was no response from the door, and I took a deep breath. “What is wrong with you woman?” I asked myself in the mirror. “Absolutely nothing. You are perfect.” He said, walking in behind me. He circled his arms around my waist and put his chin on my shoulder. He was wearing a towel only! What if it fell off? I stood there wide-eyed. “Oh, yes.” He smiled. “Sorry I forgot my clothes in the room.” He pulled away from me and a sudden emptiness fell around me. “I will be done shortly.” He was back in the bathroom getting dressed. “Stupid, stupid girl! You hardly know this man, and already you want to do disgusting things!” My conscience was screaming at me. As usual, she was sitting in her high back chair, reading a book with her glasses on the tip of her nose. He returned from the bathroom, took my hand, and we left the bedroom in search of breakfast. It was not that difficult to find. The seekers had set up a place for us together with the warriors, but there was a lot of space with most of the pack away. I wished they would come back, quickly. I urgently needed to have girl talk. Giselle was on healing duty, and I didn’t want to bother her in any case. She was very important now. I was not really close to any of the girls in the pack that stayed behind. We found a table and Luc pulled the chair out for me to sit down. “Bacon? Eggs? What do you feel like? Wait let me guess …” He tilted his head to one side. “Pancake girl?” I nodded, giving him a big smile. “Pancakes and bacon coming right up.” He gave me a wink and walked over to the counter. I felt so self-conscious. The other she-wolves were staring at me. Some with jealousy and others with looks of happiness. Do they know? Oh brother, how was I going to survive this without my girls? I didn’t want to call Fiona if they were busy negotiating. I guess I was on my own with this one. I looked around frightened when Luc returned. “Don’t you pay any mind to them.” He nudged towards the group of she-wolves. “They haven’t found their mates or rejected their firsts. They will get over it.” I looked into his green eyes and felt a calmness rush over me. He put down a plate of pancakes and bacon that smelled like heaven. He was eating the same, only a lot more of it. I dug in like normal, not thinking that I really didn’t look much like a lady stuffing the pancakes into my mouth, as if I hadn’t eaten in years. Looked up at his smile and I started blushing, trying to chew and swallow at the same time. “Sorry.” I wiped the syrup from my mouth and blushed. “I love pancakes and I am starving.” I shrugged. If he wanted to be my mate, he would just have to take me as I am. “No, Star, don’t ever be sorry for who you are. It makes me happy to see you enjoy your food so much. It means that I don’t have to worry about you dieting all the time like most human women do.” He gave me another wink and that ache was back in my private parts. This time I felt my pants get all wet. Holy crap! Did I just pee myself? “I need to go to the little girls' room!” I jumped up before he could help me and ran to the bathroom. It wasn’t supposed to be that time of the month yet, I thought to myself. I reached the toilet and sat down to check. Nothing, my pants were just wet? I did my business anyway, making sure I wouldn’t pee myself again, if that was what it was, and returned to the cafeteria after washing my hands. “Is everything okay, Star?” He looked concerned as he pulled the chair out for me again. “Everything is fine. I just seriously had to go.” I went blood-red the second after the words left my mouth. “What the hell Star! Have you completely lost all control over your brain and mouth?” My eyes grew wide! He burst out laughing and I couldn’t help but laugh with him. I felt more at ease as we finished breakfast. “Would you like to go for a walk?” He held out his hand when we handed in our plates at the counter. I took it, giving him a shy smile and kind of did a little skip as we left. “Oh, lort Star!” I just pretended like it didn’t happen and kept on walking. He looked at me and when he saw me looking straight ahead, he didn’t say a word, but held my hand a bit tighter and pulled me a little closer to him. We walked into the seeker gardens first, and they were just as pretty as the house. It was a bit disturbing that it was a maze, but it was beautiful. After about forty-five minutes and no end in sight, I started feeling anxious. “Something wrong, Star? Your heart is racing?” Luc stopped, took my face in his hands, so I could focus on his eyes. “I’m just … hum.” I took a big breath in and let it out, closing my eyes and trying to stop from hyperventilating. The day had been perfect so far, and I didn’t want to spoil it. “Open your eyes, Star of mine. Concentrate on mine.” I opened then, still shaking with fear. “Where are you? What is scaring you so?” I couldn’t think straight, my brain was shorting out. “Keep your eyes focused on me, Star, what colour are they.” “Green.” My hands were still shaking. "Good. What do you smell when I stand so close to you?” He didn’t break eye contact. “Your aftershave.” I breathed it in. “That’s good. What can you hear?” My heart rate was calming down. “Your voice.” A small smile started to form on my lips. “What do you feel?” He smiled. “Your warm hands on my face.” It came out like a whisper as I moved closer to him, feeling his hot breath on my lips. “What do you t…” I didn’t wait for the last words as my lips met his. I put my arms around his neck, stood on the tips of my toes, and he picked me up as I wrapped my legs around his waist.
