3. TELLING THE TRUTH STELLA’S POV “Are you sure everything is okay. You seem to be very uncomfortable,” Caleb mumbled.   “I am fine. It is just that I have never been to this place for the past three years. Most things have changed,” I lied.   “Yea, it is long really. I will take you around when you are fully settled in,” He offered as we got to is car.   “Thank you baby.” I mumbled.   Caleb took the driver’s seat and I got to the co-driver’s seat. I was about to buckle my seatbelt but he held my hand.   “Hey,” I smiled at him waiting for him to say something.   “You have grown to be a beautiful woman Stella. I am sure men in campus wanted to date you,” He exposed his insecurities.   “I am only interested in you. No one can ever touch me except you. I love you so much Caleb,” I hated lying to him but I didn’t have any other option.   “I want to kiss you my love,” He said as I tugged a strand of stray hair that was on my face, behind my ear.   He leaned in close after turning my face to face him but again, I stopped him.   “What is the matter?” He was very concerned and his voice was shaky.   “Do you love someone else?” His eyes were suddenly wet.   “Of course not. I have a surprise for you and you have to be patient,” I cleared the air with laughter. I don’t know why I kept ling to him. Is it because of Erman?   “What surprise?” His mouth was in a perfect letter O.   “That is why it is a surprise baby, let us keep driving,” I patted him in the back. I could notice that he was unsettled but I just hoped that he would be fine.   I also wanted to be a normal jovial and kissable girlfriend and that suddenly become a hard nut to c***k.   I turned on the stereo and it blasted with old-school West life tracks. Caleb loved the crew thus he sang along to most of their son and by the time we got to the house, he had managed to calm down.   My mother welcomed me with open arms. I could see joy written all over her face. I had gotten a first class in my undergraduate IT course and to add icing on the sugar, I was willing to proceed to my masters once I get some experience by working at my field of interest.   She ushered us in and prepared tea for the two of us. She had approved of our relationship long ago and I know that she is also happy to see the unbroken bond of our relationship throughout the years I had been far away from Caleb.   Caleb loved me so much. H video called me daily and if there is something I am sure of, it is that he cannot cheat on me. If there is someone who could mess then it was definitely me. There are still good men out there who can never cheat on you no matter what and Caleb was one of them.   The three of us talked about some random things before my mother left for grocery shopping. I knew she wanted to give us time because she always stocked her groceries. She normally adds more groceries on what was remaining every Sunday.   Caleb carried my staff to my room and he also helped me to settle in. We started by cleaning my room and we ended by organizing each and every thing to detail.I was a perfectionist therefore the whole activity took us some time. We were still talking about our childhood memories when he leaned in and kissed me. I was taken aback therefore I did not kiss back immediately and he pulled away.   “Is everything alright, you have not kissed back,” He said as his face rained in an instant.   “Let us make love,” I suggested.   Throughout the kiss, I was thinking about Erman because I somehow failed to feel Caleb the way I should.   “Are you insane?” He snapped right at me.   “Things have changed Caleb, I want you ow,” Well, I can’t believe that I said this. I was very desperate on this.   “What happened to us having our first s*x after marriage?” He implored.   “Things have changed. Please, understand that I want you,” I yelped.   “What happened to you Stella, you have changed,” He quivered.   “I haven’t, you have changed,” I turned it on him.   “Don’t turn this on me. You know so well that I will never hurt you. I love you. You changed and I saw it from the moment you walked outside that train,” He pointed out.   Are you accusing me of cheating?” I was literally raising my voice on him.   “You are an honest person Stella. You never used to lie. Please tell me the truth and I will take it. Don’t please me with lies. Just be honest with me. What happened in those three years?” He practically begged me. I wanted to continue lying but I couldn’t. Caleb was so vulnerable in front of me and I had to tell him the truth.   “I have never cheated on you, till…” I dawdled to stop.   “Till what,” His eyes had turned swollen and red.   “Till today. I kissed a guy twice. He does not mean anything...” I couldn’t finish because he interjected.   “You have busted my bubble Stella. You have broken me,” He cried as he stormed out of my room.   “Caleb wait!” I shouted and ran after him as the pain of leaving him started to sink in.
