Darlene admired the building as she walked back to her dorm. She was there a few minutes later and found her new roommate had brought someone over and they were passionately kissing each other, she quickly excused herself and wanted to walk out of the room. “Oh, sorry Darlene please come in” Natasha said pushing off her boyfriend off her. “No, I can come back later” Darlene wanted to leave the room to give them some privacy so they can continue what they were doing. “We were actually on our way out!” Natasha said trying to sit up and the boyfriend just looked blankly at Darlene as he came off the bed standing to leave together with Natasha “Where’s she from?” The guy asked Natasha as they walked out of the room. “She’s from the one of the smallest towns in the UK I think” Natasha said as she pulled her pulled away from the room walking out. “No wonder she’s dressed like that” He commented on Darlene’s outfit. She wore a mid-length floral dress and sandals with a coat on top. Darlene didn’t mind what everyone thought about her as long as she was happy. She quickly unpacked her things and started setting up her wardrobe when she finished, she took a shower and went took a nap, later she would have dinner because tomorrow she had to start her student orientation.  Darlene had her orientation for one week and during that time she managed to get to meet a few people there through Natasha. While there she would call her parents everyday and chat about how school was going for her. She told them about the new friends she met and the courses which she had taken. “Darlene Honey! I know you are excited about being away from home and being able to make friends believe me am happy for you as well but please be careful of what might happen” Tracy warned Darlene every time they spoke on the phone about  the kind of friend she decided to have. “I know mother and I promise that I will make sure I stay out of trouble” Darlene promised her mom, reassuring her that she will focus only on school   >>>>>>  Months later “So, I have been thinking” Natasha started the conversation as they were studying “About?” Darlene asked as was researching on her laptop. “Your hair! It looks like it could use some treatment and your wardrobe? I don’t even want to go there” Natasha said to Darlene who blankly looked at her “Of course not! I think everything is fine with me” Darlene replied as she closed her phone “Well at least then chair your closet because I have to say you look ridiculous in these clothes” Natasha said but Darlene insisted on just being herself. >>>>  Days later Darlene remained alone in the room and felt bored because Natasha had gone out, she felt maybe if only she had changed her closet just a little bit or her hair, she would try to fit in. She decided to try and change her hair first so she quickly got her phone and dialled Natasha’s number. “Hey! Are you busy?” Was the first thing Darlene asked “Actually no! am by the Student hall with Gerald, What’s up?” Natasha asked “I need your help! I want to go shopping for a few things” Darlene explained “Really? Please tell me you want to throw away your clothes?” Natasha said “Something like that. Will you be able to make?” Darlene asked her “Of course! I will be there in 15 minutes” Natasha said all excited “Great I will meet you in the carpark” Darlene said, cutting the line After 15 minutes Natasha showed up and went shopping, they went to different shops and chose different clothes. For the first time Darlene wore something that showed of her curves. They later went to the salon and darlene’s hair treated, they walked to a nearby café shop and bought some coffee. As they walked out Natasha bumped into a man who seemed into his mid-twenties “Oh sorry! I didn’t see you” Darlene quickly apologised “Actually, it’s not you but your friend here” The man said and Natasha was just standing there its like she had seen a ghost. “Nat! Are you okay?” Darlene asked her “Yes, I am just felt dizzy for a while. Sorry for spilling coffee on you” Natasha said as she came back to reality “That’s fine! You can go on” The man replied and Darlene apologised for the last time before they finally walked out of the coffee shop “Are you okay? You seemed distracted” Darlene asked Natasha “Did you see that man we bumped into?” Natasha asked her “Yes, I did Whats wrong?” Darlene said curiously looking at her friend “that’s Liam Anderson the most eligible bachelor and also the heir to Anderson petroleum. How can you not know him?” Natasha asked Darlene and she seemed blank. Natasha went on admiring Liam and imagined how it would feel to sleep with him and Darlene just kept quiet as they walked back to their dorm after getting off the bus. For the whole afternoon Natasha spoke about Liam like he had asked her to go out " Don't you think it's weird that you want to sleep with that man whom you know nothing about?"  Darlene asked her  "What do you mean weird? girl you need to live a little"  She said as she waved bye leaving the room Seeing the time was now, she went to her laptop to give her mother a skype phone call “Hello Mother?” She greeted her mother smiling after she picked up the call “Hi sweetie.” Her mother and father said at the same time “Hi father, how are you?” She said excitedly, her mother looked like she was closely looking at her hair “What happened to your hair?” Her mother asked “Mmmmm? Oh, my hair I treated it” Darlene said “And makeup? When did you start wearing that?” Her mother questioned her “Nat thought it might be worth trying” Darlene replied “Whose Nat? and why are you even listening to what she’s saying?” Tracy said to Darlene “Oh, come on Tracy! She’s a teenager now let her breathe” James argued his wife “I don’t like what’s happening there. Never apply that make up again you look beautiful the way you are and I think your hair looks great when its in a bun” Tracy said and Darlene just looked down “Yes, I understand!” She replied “Good! I hope you are being a good girl” Her mother said and Darlene nodded her head “I should get going now Natasha is here. Bye father!” Darlene quickly said cutting the call She played with her hair and walked out of the room to the bathroom to remove the makeup Why did her mother always treat her like this? She was felt like her mother was too controlling. Darlene roughly removed the make up as she was letting tears fall from her eyes. She blamed Natasha for all this because if she had let her be the way she was none of this would have happened
