Chapter 2 * When they pulled in to the garage at his luxury apartment building, Cole drove directly to his private floor in the garage and proceeded to lead her to the elevator that led directly to his penthouse. Though Tarsha knew just how wealthy Cole was, nothing could have prepared her for what she saw when they reached his floor. The apartment itself was huge, with two walls made entirely of glass, providing views of the city that she had never even imagined. She was, in fact, fairly sure that she could see her own Brooklyn apartment. The other two walls of the main room were filled with art. She was sure that there were at least $9 million worth of paintings and sculptures in that room alone. The furniture was all sleek and modern. None of it looked like it was ever actually used for sitting and she wondered to herself where he actually relaxed. His home felt very much like it was for show alone. It felt more like a luxury hotel suite than a real home, but there was no denying that it was impressive. She was fairly certain that it was designed to be just the kind of home that he thought a person like him should have, rather than a place that protected him from the world. She thought, in that moment, that she would not trade her tiny, messy apartment for this one even for all of the money that came along with it. Still, he was looking at her expectantly, as though he was already a little shocked that she had not yet begun to fawn over his apartment. “Nice place,” she said, forcing a smile. She removed her coat and placed it over the back of a chair, and put her purse near it. “Thank you,” he said as he walked towards the large glass windows. She did not follow him. Instead, she asked, “Where is the bedroom?” “In a hurry?” he asked, clearly amused. “I thought I made that clear,” she said with a playful smile, though she did decide to join him in the living room. After all, she did not need a bed to have her fun with him. “I suppose you did,” he said, moving towards the bar that he had carefully positioned near the window in order to aid in his seduction of each of his conquests. “Would you rather we stand here for two hours while we drink wine from fine glasses and stare off at the view and you tell me how this apartment is the only calm place in a chaotic world for you?” she asked, feigning innocence as she ran her hand along the smooth marble of the bar top. “Well, you have me all figured out,” he said as he sat down the wine bottle he had picked up, leaving the glasses in front of him empty. “Yes I do. You are not exactly unique,” she teased as she rounded the bar and placed her hands playfully on his chest. “I think I am more of a mystery than you give me credit for,” he smirked, wondering what she would do if she truly did know exactly what kind of a man he was. If she knew about him as much as she thought she did, she would run screaming from his apartment and his life, not try to lure him to the bedroom. “You miss my point,” she said as she ran her hands up his chest and over the strong muscles of his neck before tangling them in his hair. She could feel the heat of his skin and she knew that he wanted her just as much as she wanted him. It would not be hard to convince him to dispense with the usual formalities. “What is that?” he asked, trying to play down his own growing desire to take her right there on the bar. Her golden dress, there with the lights of the city behind her, seemed to glow and he could not help but suspect that her bare skin would have an even lovelier glow. But he could not ask her to remove the dress. He wanted to hear her tell him how much she wanted him. He had no intentions of showing his cards first. “It is that I do not care. You need to put on a show for other women. I require no such charade. I want what you want. Where is the bedroom?” she said boldly. “Follow me,” he said, extending his had to her. She did not take it though. Instead, she paused. He worried for a moment that she had changed her mind, that he had overplayed his position. Then, however, a sly smile crossed her face. “I do not think that is the best idea,” she murmured as she pressed her luscious body against his. “And what do you think the best idea is?” he asked, his breathing growing quicker and his desire for her becoming almost impossible to bear. “I think you should take me right here,” she said plainly as she ran her hands gently around to her back and unzipped her dress, letting it fall to the floor. He gasped aloud and she could not help but smile at his obvious shock at her actions. He stood there, frozen in awe at her and her beauty. She was suddenly very thankful that Gwen had pushed her in to the blue lingerie. Cole clearly appreciated it. When he did not move towards her, she unhooked her bra and let it fall to the floor on top of her dress. He did not speak. He could find no words to tell her just how ravishing she was, bathed in the moonlight. Instead, he rushed across the room and grabbed her, crashing his mouth down on hers with a kiss that seared her very soul. She loved the feeling of the fabric of his jacket against her bare breasts as he backed her up against the glass wall behind them. As her naked back pressed against the glass, she shivered in excitement while he growled in approval. His hands seemed to be everywhere, traveling every inch of her skin as she gripped the fabric of his jacket for support to keep herself from falling as her legs began to turn to jelly as he focused his attention on her most sensitive area. As his hand slipped between her legs, she gasped in anticipation. Just the thought of taking him inside her body was practically enough to make her come. Still, he kept his touches gentle and light, savoring her obvious desire for him. He only took his hands off her to remove his jacket and his shirt, eager to feel her bare skin against his own. She moaned in approval, though she would have been much happier if he had removed his pants too. She was done with any barrier between their bodies. She wanted him inside of her and she wanted it now. As she reached down to unbuckle his pants he growled, pinning her arms above her head with his free hand. His inner bear was in control and he had no intentions of relinquishing any of that control. She got her way soon enough, though. He was just as eager to be inside her as she was to have him enter her. His lips locked on hers again as he began to fumble with the buckle of his belt. His movements were quick and deliberate. He usually prided himself on being a lover who took his time, who spent hours and hours with his partner as he brought them every pleasure possible. He could not wait, though. Cole needed this girl now. Without knowing anything about her or even her name, she had driven him mad with want. Once he had freed himself, he could wait no longer. He lifted her with one hand, pressed her firmly against the glass and surged in to her. The feeling was like nothing he had ever felt before. Cole had so many lovers that he had long ago lost track of the number. In none of his years of bedding women, had it every felt like it did to enter her. The feeling was all consuming and electric. The thrill of it was too much and he could hold back no longer. He thrust in and out of her wildly. All Tarsha could do was hold on as Cole brought her a kind of pleasure that she had never known before. His love making was wind and passion; primal. It was as though he needed her on the most basic of levels and she loved the feeling of that need within him. It was intoxicating to have such a powerful man want her so badly. Both of them were so lost in their lovemaking that the rest of the world faded away. All that existed for them was each other. Soon they each reached the peak of their passion, screaming with joy. When they were done, all he could do was stare at the city lights through the glass behind her and wonder if anyone had ever felt as complete as he did in that moment. Cole did not return her to her feet right away and she made no effort to move. Instead, she kept her legs wrapped around him and he stayed within her body, each of them in awe at the power of what had just passed between them. When he finally did put her down, she made her way towards where her dress lay on the floor. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to him before she got two steps away. “Where do you think you are going?” he asked, even surprising himself with how possessive his voice sounded. “I am going to get dressed and go home. We are done here,” she said in confusion. She had never had a one-night stand before, bus she was fairly certain that one did not linger after the love making was done, no matter how earth shattering the s*x was. “Oh, I am not done with you. I am not nearly done with you,” he said as he swept her up in his arms and carried her down the hall to his bedroom. They spent the rest of the night tangled with each other, their bodies writhing in passion. Just when Tarsha thought that she could feel no greater passion, he brought her to a new level that she had not known could exist. Once Tarsha had drifted off to sleep, too exhausted from their passionate s*x to think again of leaving before the night was over, Cole did something that he had never done before. He pulled her in to his arms and watched her as she slept. There was something about her presence in his apartment that made it feel more like a home than it ever had before and he was not sure why. He tried to sense what it was about her that felt so familiar to him, but he could not understand it. He tried to pull away from her, to sleep on the other side of the bed as he usually did with his conquests, but his inner bear would not allow it. His instincts wanted her close and everything good in his life had come from obeying those instincts. For that reason, he held her. He held her for the entire night. He did not sleep at all. He simply listened to the beat of her heart and the sweet sound of her breathing as her scent surrounded him. This sensation was something entirely new and he wanted to remember it. *
