Chapter 2

"5000 gold coin?!"

"Yes, 5000 if you could killed the whole people"

I watch carefully toward the mayor in the south area sitting calmly on his seat while talking about murder not only one but a whole town which has more than 18 people there. It was known as the sorcerer village where they tend to live in their own world and no outside could come inside or disturb them.

There are new rules about land taxes and everything which is the people there ignore and didn't make any payment to the nearest city which is the south Mencong City.

I am Alaric Thanatos or what people called beast since I am working for the people who have money to pay me, uncared if the job is illegal or not.

Wearing a mask is what I always do so no one knows my true face, even though I know some people start using my name for getting a job but only important people who had more money know how to contact me, the real beast for their dirty job.

And right now, the offer is too good to be rejected.

I nod my head and we shake hand before I grab the coin in the small bag on the table, they know how I work, money first and I'll finish whatever they asked me to do.

I'm a hunter or assassin, the best one.

I'm working alone since I'm only 16 which is 10 years ago. At a young age, I am good, now with more experience, I'm unbeatable.

"You won't hear anything about them anymore in the future" Was my farewell words before jump from the window and run fast to disappear around the crowd.

I can't stop smiling for thinking about the money in my pocket and that it's going to be an easy task.

If only I know that this is the beginning of my curse as a real beast, I won't accept the stupid job.

STAB.. STAB.. STAB..!!!

For four days I've been sitting in the tree while watching the people around the sorcerer's village, why it called sorcerers, I have no idea because they look normal to me.

I'm here to studying their behaviors and habits before I make my moves to destroy and kill everyone.

True that it has 18 people in the village and none children, I wonder how they have no children when they seem to be coupled.

They have their own food by farming and having their own animal to eat, which make the village is prosperous without any help from another village, I guess this is why the mayor decides to increase the land taxes.

But, it's not my concern, I am here only to kill them and tonight will be the night.

After they sleep on 10, I'll sneak to their house one by one before stabbing them in their sleep so no one will make any sound and I'll be gone faster without drama.

With blood on my dagger and hands, I move to another house before sneak silently inside then push the dagger into their heart.

Some people open their eyes to see me before I watch them limp lifeless beside their lover.

Chuckle in amusement and happiness when the last person finally dead, I walk lightly from the room to go outside only to get stopped when I watch them all standing outside.

How?

I killed them all...

'You sure dare come to our place and do dirty ways to erase us'

I heard a voice on my head and was taken aback when they move closer to where I stand.

Why are their eyes red?

'The beast'

'That's what they called you'

I didn't dare to make any comment, to shock with what I saw with both of my eyes. They can't be alive, I check their heart stop beating one by one, so why?

'I see you're confused'

I don't know who's speaking because I just hear the voice in my head and see no one open their mouth for speaking.

This is confusing...

Who are they?

'We're called sorcerers not for nothing, Beast'

'Human try to rule us but they know not to cross our path or else...'

'You think we didn't know you're coming?'

'We're just want to see how far you will go'

'And I can say I am proud of you'

SWOOOOSHSHHHH.....

I jump back when I saw them flying before huddle around me and chant weird words.

"What are you ?!" I finally found my own voice at the same time my body burning "AARRGGGHHH!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME??!!! AARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!"

'We just turn you into what you really are'

What?!

'A beast...'

'You'll become a real beast and no one, human or any creature could rectify when your heart is still a beast'

"WHAT!! AARGGHHHHH RRROOOOAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR...." My sound changing, it wasn't my voice, it more like a demon voice, what is happening to me?!

RROOOOAAAAAARRRRRRR, I felt something change with my body now before I felt myself fly a few meters from the ground when they keep chanting their strange words.

'Rise now the beast.... You'll get what you want by being a real beast... Alaric'

Gasped, I was thrown back down, and in reflection, I stand easily on the ground without any pain after being thrown more than 5 feet tall.

My throat burns like I need a drink after a run for a mill.

I look up to see them smile before one by one disappears into the thin air.

I have no idea what happens to me, slowly I try to walk only to fall back since I'm moving so fast inhuman way.

"What the..." I try to grab my sword and fall when it cracks from the grip when I hold it.

What is this power?

Ok.. Ohok...

Water...

I'm so thirsty.

Walking around the village I watch there's a lake nearby so quickly I run only to get shocked when realizing how fast I am like a wind itself.

What did they do to me?

I drink the water and drink and drink and drink but it seems didn't satisfy me and make me more thirsty than before.

What is going on?!

Tap.. Tap.. Tap...

Then I hear it, the sound of the horse with two people riding a cart.

Reflect I run toward them and before I knew it, I put my mouth into their neck and drink their blood greedily like its a water. Even two people didn't satisfy me, so I move to their horse and kill it too.

Then I hear it...

More voices...

More people...

I grin happily to know there's a village nearby, I move fast to go there and destroy the whole people like a real monster I am.

It takes more than 10 years for me to be able to hold my thirst and act like a human instead of the beast I am.

Since then no one ever saw or heard about the Sorcerer's village anymore, it's like they vanish.

Even when I go in the same direction that I remember was the way to their village, I can't found anything there.

So I am stuck in my condition as a real beast like they told me I am.

Living alone in the hidden place, I get to use for the animal blood and sometimes human blood but I have learned to not drain them and just take the small amount which only weakened them.

But today, for the first day since I've been turned, I had a vision. Pictures that come into my head that I know are given by the only witch who helps me find my way back into a human couple of years ago, Naina.

I just hope she'll give me good news about the cure to turn me back into a human.

So I grab my stuff and put it into a bag before running fast with my full power and arrived two hours later in another country called East Maine City.

The sun didn't affect me, it just annoys me since my senses strengthen so too much light sometimes annoy me, I can eat a small portion of human food but I have to at least drink blood once a day or I'm getting crazy for the thirst of blood.

I don't know what am I now.

I just called myself a monster, a beast.

But Naina called me a Vampire...

East Maine city is a big city with so many people since it's near the sea where the sailor used to go to another place around the world with their boat.

I walk past the crowd into the house beside the hill where I know is Naina's, since I was the one who builds it for her after our long training.

I just on my way to raise my hand to knock on the door when it was open.

"I'm glad to see you here, my son"

Was the greet I get from Naina when I just take one step inside her house. I meet Naina 7 years ago in the forest she crosses after I drink her companion there, at first she was shocked to see me with her six sense eyes but then with a raised hand she gives my sanity back and offers me a way to hold my thirst and the beast rampage.

Since then we're living together in the forest for a year, I build her a small house there until she decides I was good enough for my own.

But deep down, I still have the fear of being mad like I used to, so living alone the only option for me.

I watch Naina come with two girls beside her as a helper since she's blind.

"These is Kally and Becka" Naina speaks, know that I am uncomfortable meeting new people, so I give them a nod before turn my gaze back to the old woman.

"Why you call, Naina?" I asked bluntly when the two girls leaving us alone.

Naina just chuckles before give me a dagger.

"What is this?" I asked her in wonder before taking a seat in front of her and grab her hand.

Naina taps my hand repeatedly "It's the answer" She said calmly with a warm smile which makes me almost jump in triumph.

"Seriously?" 

I don't know how to react, it's been a while since I let myself get a high hope to heal from my condition, For more than 10 years I'd become what people called a monster.

"Your cure is in the dark forest, drink it and your beast won't harm you anymore" Naina continue, know how I feel for being a Vampire "Go to the Dark forest on the 23rd day in the full moon and you'll find your answer there"

"Are you serious, Naina?" I asked her with a serious tone because this is what I want.

A way to make myself a human again.

I learn my mistakes by being a beast isn't what I want and if I'm back to be human again, I'll be a better one, not like I am used to.

"And the dagger?" I comment while studying the thing on my hand carefully.

"Stab it heart when you drank the blood" Naina explains and I nod my head in understanding while thinking about the goal I'll get for finally getting back into a human.

Oh God, how I could do anything...

"The dark forest?" I asked the old woman who nods, everyone knows that so many dark creatures in the dark forest but since I am a beast myself, I guess meeting one of the beasts won't scare me.

That's why I make my move to the dark forest because the 23rd is the day after tomorrow and I won't let myself being late for killing one thing that could turn me back into a human.

It takes five hours at my full speed for me to get to the dark forest before walk inside and with my sense, I could feel there's more than animals here.

But I guess they know who I am because no one dares to come near me when I arrived at the point of a place where the creature will arrive tomorrow.

I take a look around and saw weird animals staring back at me and I only need to show them my fang to make them leave me alone.

Smiling in happiness, I look up to see the largest tree before a jump to the tree trunk and sat there while waiting.

I pulled out the dagger and studying it for a minute to see strange carving around them.

When the sun falls, I also close my eyes but still could sense every move and voice around me. It's the power I have since I become a Vampire.

Vampire...

I don't know when I start using that word to called myself.

But, it was better than the monster or the beast.

 "ALLOORAA..!!!" 

A voice startled me and make me have to open my eyes to see the source only to get surprised to see her standing at the point of a place where Naina mention the creature that could change me back into a human.

"Onna? (A girl?)" I murmur in disbelief with what I saw.

The cure is a girl?

A human girl?

So that's mean I should drain her and stab her heart with the dagger to turn myself back into a human?

 "ALLOORRAAAA...!!!!!"  

Is this for real?

What's the difference from just killing another human?

What's different with her?

Why her?!
