Mate

930 Words
Summer exited Elias' room and returned to the party. Grabbing a bottle of wine she started approaching the guests with empty glasses and offering a refill with a sweet smile on her face. She was listening to everyone’s conversations casually, hoping to find someone important within this group of supernatural beings, hoping to find a human that could help her. But soon enough she found out that none of the leaders were actually humans. There were Hunters, yes, which were basically humans with enhanced abilities but by the way they were looking at her she knew they wouldn't be of any help. While she was thinking of another approach to her plan, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked around to see a tall man with dark skin and grey eyes looking at her. “Miss, please follow me, my Alpha would like a word with you” Summer nodded confused and followed him. After all, they were guests and she didn’t want to make a scene that could cause her Master to get angry at her. She followed the man to a balcony where and even taller man with short dark hair, tanned skin and brown eyes was looking at her up and down.  “Where is she?” he said annoyed. “Excuse me, sir? Where is who?”  “The girl whose smell is all over you… I can smell her in your clothes. But I can’t find her anywhere in the castle.” Summer looked at him as if he was crazy until all the pieces clicked together. Her face changed from one of utter confusion to complete understanding… and panic.  "Why do you want to know?" "That is none of your business, human." "Then I have no need to answer your questions" she said while turning around ready to head back to the party. She heard a loud growl behind her but she kept walking without even flinching. "She's my mate..." Donovan answered in slowly. "What?" Summer turned to look at him suspiciously. "Your mate? Are you sure?" He just nodded at her. "And what would you do if I tell you where she is?" "Claim her as mine and take her to my pack, obviously" he said annoyed at this conversation, but, at the same time, he knew that answering her questions was the fastest way to her mate. "Would you hurt her?" Donovan looked angrily at her for the accusation.  "Of course, not. She's my mate!" "Abusive alphas is not uncommon..." "I'm getting tired of this conversation, human. I'm being more that courteous answering questions I have no need to answer. So tell me where she is right now", he snapped his fingers and his Beta grabbed her arme forcefully.  "You can hurt me but I won't let you hurt her more." she said with defiance and determination in her eyes. Donovan stoped his Beta with this. "More, you said?" Donovan looked at her quizzically. He inhaled deeply and walked closer to her. "The only reason I'm here is because I want to take her home. Where she belongs, as my Luna. No harm will come upon her, I solemnly swear as an alpha and the ruler of the Foresta District". He said without looking away from her, trying to show how sincere he was.  She glare at him for a while before finally exhaling defeated. Not completely convinced but this seemed like the opportunity she was looking for, at least for one of them. She looked around searching for her Master, trying to figure out if he was somewhere near. After confirming clear coast she approached Alpha quickly, making the man that brought her here to grab her before she could walk any closer. The Alpha looked behind her and nodded for his man to let her go. Summer got as close as possible and said everything quickly in a soft whisper, hoping his wolf’s hearing will suffice for him to hear her but not Elias. “I think the scent you're mentioning must be Aubrey. She has been chained in Master Elias bedroom. I just saw her, I couldn’t understand why he would do that… he told her that she couldn’t be at the party. I think… I think he’s hiding her from you.” Donovan’s anger was visible and his eyes went completely dark. A low growl escaped his lips when he spoke . “Where is Elias’ room?” “Upstairs, to your left. Last room at the end of the hall.” Donovan nodded and started walking. “Wolf...” Summer said a little bit higher and Donovan turned around “... please save her.” Donovan left without saying another word, mindlinking his Gamma on the way. 'I found my mate, Troy. Alex is with me. Let’s go get her'. Aubrey was pinching her sandwich, wondering if she should eat it or not; the chain around her neck itching every time she did a small movement. One time she tried to starve to death and the only thing she accomplished was for Master Elias to force-feed her. The memories made her shudder. But the goosebumps didn’t leave her. Something was different. She couldn’t tell what but she was feeling anxious. Like something was about to happen.  Donovan was standing outside of the room that blond girl mentioned, he could sense magic protecting it. He tried turning the handle but it was locked. Without giving it a second thought he kicked the door that broke easily against his strength. Aubrey screamed when she saw the door opening abruptly and scurried as far away from the door as the chain let her. The most gorgeous man she has ever seen walked in scanning the room, once his eyes met hers a smile crawled up his face.  “Mate…” he growled softly.
