By then, the casual relationship I’d had going with Richard was over, as I had predicted it would be. He had reconciled with his much-loved partner and I was quite happy for him. No hard feelings at all. The call had been about a possible heart attack of a male in his sixties on the fourth floor. Marco and I quickly rode up the elevator, and as the doors opened on that floor, someone was waiting for us. And that someone was Arthur Kindly. He wore a three piece suit and looked extremely grim. “Damian? Ah, hello. Wish this were better circumstances. This way.” We followed him down a hallway to an open office door. A sixty-something man in a suit
