I keep my mind focused; I am here to see mom and that is all I am going to think of. I walk between the old graves and I find my mom’s where I kneel and sigh. “Hi, mom…”
It has been quite disturbing; not knowing what is threatening us only makes our lives more difficult. As if finding some sort of balance with humans wasn’t hard enough. To have my children so far and it makes me homesick; only Caleb’s love keeps my sanity. My phone rings for the third time, I check again and, just as before, I see Caly trying to reach me. I will call her back when I am done, my mother is right now my priority.
I caress the stone and pick up the dead flowers. I put them in a bag and replace them with the new bouquet I brought with me. There is a sadness in me and I can finally let some tears run down my face, this is the only place I am able to be me and not the Luna of the Wolves. I start to feel a tight pain in my chest and I sit on the grass. I am surprised that my pain is so great.
‘It is not only your pain…’ A sudden voice surprises me.
I look around and I see no one but Alex leaning against the car far from me. ‘It is pain and anger…’ The voice continues and this time I hear it more clearly. It is in my head.
‘Who are you? What are you?’ I ask as I study my surroundings.
‘Luna? Are you talking to me?’ Alex responds as he looks towards me.
I am more than surprised and I get up to look everywhere. ‘Alex… someone is talking to me in my mind… can you hear it too?’
Before he can answer, a large Angel-like creature lands in front of me; I give a step back as I gasp looking at him. Those blue eyes; pale and sad. I know them, I recognize them. A long time ago, those same sad blue eyes played an important part in one of our battles. I remember his name. “Lucifer…” I whisper
He lifts his arm and I see right behind him Alex, already in his wolf form, floating, trying to reach to me. “You remember me…” He says as he keeps Alex unable to do anything.
I nod. “I remember you, and your help… Again, thank you for that… But please, let him go. He is only trying to protect me…” I ask and nod to Alex. ‘Please do not attack him… I know him…’
I feel Alex’s anger and frustration, but he acknowledges my request and stops growling. ‘If he tries to move I will bite his head off…’ He says back to me.
Lucifer’s hand lowers and gently lets him go. Alex moves carefully to my side and remains very close, watching. “He surely can try…”
My eyes widen, as I can’t help to be even more surprised. “You can read his thoughts as well?” I ask. He just gives me a nod of confirmation. “What are you doing here? Why now?” I demand a bit frustrated.
He doesn’t move, and again I notice he doesn’t even blink, his chest doesn’t seem to move like he is breathing. It is almost like a living statue, one of which its presence unnerves anyone who looks at it. “I grew tired of watching you all fail… I am done with that.”
I frown and look straight into his eyes. “Indeed, this new world is a product of our failure, I see that…” I say without hiding my anger.
His eyes seem to change slightly, his pose doesn’t. He watches me for some seconds and then finally he speaks. “I believe that was… sarcasm?”
I roll my eyes, Angels. Why am I not surprised this one doesn’t get things very well? I nod. “It is a very common form of expression when someone is stating something obvious. Your help was extremely important and valuable. But we were not going to fail in the end, one way or the other, we would have managed to achieve our objective…”
His eyes change a little again, I am glad I am able to cause some sort of effect in him. I try to calm myself a bit more as I ponder his previous words. “You are not afraid of me…” He says.
I nod. “I am not afraid of you,” I respond with honesty. “I know you are powerful, and I know you can kill me if you wish. But I also remember how you helped us and I felt you were concerned for us… I don’t know how or why, but you were concerned… or else why would you help us?”
This time he makes a sudden change in his posture, he seems to adjust his position. I find these details interesting. “I foresaw your survival… And I felt you were the one who could advocate for me…” And he stops talking.
I feel something strange tightening my chest. There is a pressure that squeezes me and I have trouble breathing. “Alex…” I whisper and I kneel, both hands to my chest.
Lucifer must be aware of something we are not because he lets Alex go, who rushes to me. Lucifer itself has come close but giving me his back. ‘I… I can’t breathe…’ I send to Alex.
He whimpers and drops down next to me, feeling something strange as well. We are both feeling this so I am convinced there is an unnatural reason why we are the way we are.
It gets harder to breathe and my vision blurs. I look up at Lucifer looking for answers, and just then he finally speaks. “Your powers are hurting them. You still have much to learn.”
He speaks to someone, and I just can’t understand or see who. “Amra, stop… you are hurting them!” I hear Caly’s voice just as I lose consciousness.

I rush to my brother as I feel him in some emotional situation, and the first thing I feel is Carl stopping me at the door. “Please wait… he is trying to sort this out, and he warned me you could have felt him and would be rushing to him… but...”
I frown and put both hands on my waist. “Move away,” I say as I make a stop gesture with my hand to Ivory and Ebony, who landed just behind me.
I know I don’t sound very convincing, but I am tired of the way everyone treats me. He lowers his head and steps away from the door, so I rush in and chase the scent of my brother. I walk into the living room and I stop dead on my tracks. I see Xavier with a pained look in his face, but I see Zana and Dana, and they don’t look very happy either. “What is happening?”
“Sol!” I hear Zana’s plead and she rushes to me and hugs me. I feel her shaking as my arms wrap around my friend.
Dana stands up and comes closer, giving me a small smile as she takes a deep breath. “We just got back a little while ago, and we found out that… well, that things are more complicated than we thought.”
“What do you mean?” I ask to her as I let Zana go.
“Well… we found our mate… apparently…” Dana continues, and I smile at her.
“But that is good news!” I say with relief.
Dana half smiles and then chuckles. “Well, it is your brother…”
I blink in surprise. I look at Xavier and he is still serious and quiet. To be clear, he hasn’t said a word since I walked in. As if he is in shock. “Xavy… is this true?”
He looks at me and gives me a nod, but he doesn’t say anything else. So I look at Dana and take a deep breath. “Then we have to be happy that in times like these, there is still some happiness for some. It is a blessing from the Goddess, Dana…” She chuckles and looks at her sister, who has her head down and I perk a brow. “Ok, what aren’t you telling me?”
“Because it is not only Dana my mate… but also Zana…” Xavier finally speaks. My eyes widen as I look at both of them and then back at my brother. My head is spinning with the news; it is not unheard of, there were some cases of two male mates and a woman, as well as two women and a male. They are all nervous, and it is understandable because they never expected this.
So I start to laugh.
They look at me as if went crazy, but I can’t help but laugh. Xavier is frowning and not very happy but I just can’t help it. I feel my breath heavy with so much laughter. “Well… The Goddess is wise, brother… your ego is so big, maybe you needed two mates to be tamed…” I finally say.
Dana laughs and Zana starts laughing as well. My brother rolls his eyes and finally joins in with some chuckles. He walks to me and nudges my head, looking down at me with tenderness. “Leave it to my little sister to put everything into perspective… I just hope our parents take it the same way…”
I giggle and lift in tiptoes to kiss my brother’s chin. “They will… have faith brother, our parents will enjoy some good news during these troubled times…”
