Chapter 2

1071 Words
A couple of guys were into me, but not enough to pick me as their mate. They asked me to dance, and they talked to me. It was sweet and nice but I don't think I'd become their mate. I still had hope that I would be Liam's choice, but I didn't know why he was waiting to claim me. "He was an ass," Liam says coming up behind me from getting pulled onto the dance floor by a blonde. As soon as she walked away he didn't look at her again. "Totally." I giggled, watching the hurt look on the girls face when she saw me talking to Liam. I don't know how long we have been here, but it must have been a while my legs hurt and my feet were starting to kill me. I was tired and waited to go home, and sleep. Or become Liam's mate and finally tell him I loved him. "Keres," Liam began but in the moment he was cut off by a guy he was tall, blue eyes and dyed blonde hair, he's roots needed a touch up. "Keres Robbins?" He asked me. Liam got in front of me putting his arm on me. "What do you want?" Liam snapped at the guy. He didn't flinch, he just looked super annoyed. "Alpha Kawan would like to speak to you." My blood went cold. "Why?" I asked my voice so low it was almost a whisper, if I hadn't been around werewolves it would have been a whisper. "He would like to claim you as his mate." the guy says. "Tell him it's too late, I've already claimed her." Liam growls. Pushing me behind him and out of his sight, sorta. "Don't speak to me that way." the guy snapped at Liam, I didn't see who threw the first punch but suddenly they were on the ground. Liam on top of the other guy throwing punch after punch. A crowd formed around us. People came to pull the two men apart, and others came to watch what was going on. I couldn't believe my eyes, I spent all night watching Liam dance and look at other girls but now he wanted to claim me? "Enough," a voice in the crowd growled out. Kawan stood there, glaring at all the people around. Staring at Liam the most. "I have picked my mate." "Over my dead body!" Liam growled ready to start throwing punches again. "Take him away." Kawan snapped at the guards that had pulled Kawan's Beta and Liam away. "Liam!" I cried out as they began pulling him away from the crowd, I went to go after him but Kawan's Beta grabbed my arm. "Do not run. Kawan won't like that." "Where are they taking him? Are they going to hurt him?" I cried, tears pooled in my eyes threatening to spill over. The Beta rolls his eyes at me, as if I was acting childish. I didn't care, I loved Liam. "Do not cry Luna." He snaps at me as he begins to drag me off. My tears begin to fall down my face. I have never been so far away from Liam. this wasn't supposed to happen this way. I was to be his mate. Kawan had walked away, and was sitting in a chair when the Beta pulled me in front of him. "Why is she crying?" He snaps at his Beta. "She is crying over the dog." The Beta replies. All day males have been looking past me, looking at me as weak and seeing me as a failure of a mate if they picked me. Kawan didn't look at me like that he looked at me like I could be strong. Even Liam didn't believe in me that much. And suddenly I felt my tears dry up. I didn't feel as sad as I had when I thought Liam wouldn't pick me as his mate. "I am not," I whispered lightly. "Then why are you crying?" Kawan snapped at me and I flinched at his tone of voice. "I'm scared." I tell him. "Odd," Kawan says. "Come." He lends me through the crowd away from the busy tables of those who were still around to find mates. He picks a nice quiet table. "Sit," I sit down in the chair. He stares at me for a while, I twist my fingers around and around waiting for him to see that he had made a mistake. I wasn't anything special. He would see that and find someone else. "Alpha Wolleson," I start to say but he cuts me off. "Kawan." "W-w-what?" I stuttered. Like I had the hiccups. It came out that way. I mentally slapped myself for being so weak. "My name is Kawan." He said it kindly, I stared at him dumbly for a second, I knew he would have a first name, but why was he letting me call him by his first name? No one ever gets too. And the fact that he talked to me nicely was surprising enough too. "Kawan, why did you pick me?" I asked him. This time I actually looked at him. He didn't look at me as he replied. "I wanted you." I blinked at him, not understanding his confusing words. I didn't even know him. "Why? I'm weak and pathetic." I told him. He doesn't say anything just simply stands. "It's time to claim you and go home." I blinked up at him, he was taller when he stood in front of me as I sat. I didn't know how to feel about that. He held his hand out for me, was this really happening? Was Kawan really going to make me his mate? Since it was almost over, the rest of us lined up by rate, the males on one side of the room and girls on the other. I could feel everyone stare at me as Kawan stood in front of me, whispers went around from those who weren't part of choosing a mate. Names were called out, they had to repeat mine because I hadn't been listening the first time. Even though I wasn't last or first I was halfway in between. "Keres Robbins." I heard my name get called. "Again mine," Kawan growled out. I flinched at his tone of voice. He made his way towards me, this time he picked me up bride style in front of everyone. Everyone gasps like they were afraid he would hurt me. He just walks out of the crowd with me in his arms. I was shocked. I just sat in his arms, not moving, not being able to say anything.
