CHAPTER TWO
ARES
“Mum for the last time, I’m not going to meet her. I’m not interested in Lisa, not even the slightest. She’s just not my type of woman and you know it,” I was trying my damn hardest not to lose my cool.
The older woman, dressed in a blue designer dress with a matching purse sitting on her lap, was not giving me the time of the day. And where the hell was that secretary? I asked him to do one f*****g job and that was run through the contract with Heidi Company and he was an hour late already. How have I not fired him already?
“Who cares if you don’t like her or she is not your type? At the end of the day, business stays top priority. So I want you to be a good little boy, get her to be all over you then propose to her already. The earlier you get babies, the more probable her father would be willing to concede to a merger. You know as well as I do that a merger with Pink Entertainment would put us way ahead of the other companies. All the A-listers would want to sign with us,” she then frowned before adding,” Who even names an entertainment agency Pink?”
“Look mum, I’m already merging up with Heidi. So what I need to secure is more A-listers, not another merger,” I blew out an air of frustration, loosening my tie.
“Heidi? That company only started out like what? Three years ago?” She chuckled in mere amusement,” Pink almost thrice worth of that little wannabe company. If I were you, I’d be focusing on Lisa right now,”
It would be pointless to keep on arguing her. If there was one thing, I had learned about women was that it is always pointless to argue with them. Even when they are clearly wrong, somehow they’ll find a way to prove they are right.
“Fine. How about you give me some more time? One month to chill around and then I’ll get serious about Lisa faster than you can blink. Sounds like a good deal?” I raised an eyebrow, watching her eyes.
“She is a gorgeous, learned woman son. If you play around too much, she won’t be single for too long. Anyway, here is little something I heard. You know the new kid breaking in the industry faster than you can breath?”
“George Pitson?” He seemed to be all everyone was talking about for the last three months. At twenty-three he was making a mark in the modelling and acting world.
“That is the one,”
“Yeah. I’ve heard about him. So, what about him?” I questioned, my attention level spiked up.
“Well, he is cutting off ties with his former agency. I heard he is looking to sign to a new agency and so far he has got Pink Entertainment lined up. Now, if you can get him under Pink, that would be a huge step. He is young, has the looks and his popularity is already starting to shake the whole of the U.S,” I was the one working in the company but somehow she always found a way to know stuff before I did.
“I’ll make a follow-up mom,” I said.
She stood as she placed a kiss on my head, making me cringe. I was f*****g twenty-seven and she was always acting like I was a ten-year-old kid.
“I’ll see you in the auction on Friday and I’m very curious to see who you’ll bring,” she cooed as she walked out of my office.
The auction.
Shit!
How could I forget about it? It was one of those times of the year where mum got to flaunt me amongst her rich friends and try to set me up with their daughters. I groaned in annoyance at the thought of having to endure a couple of hours of that same old cycle. Where the hell was this bloody secretary? Forcing myself to stand up, I walked outside, ready to let out my pent-up frustration on someone. What was his name again? Steven? Seagull? Christian? No, it had an S at the beginning. I stopped a employee who was walking by.
“Do you know where the guy who is stepping in for my secretary is?” I asked between clenched teeth.
“Sebastian? He is down by his cabin. It’s the first one on the left,”
With determined steps, I headed for the cabin but before I quiet get there, my bladder just had to interfere. That bloody coffee. Cussing, I waked into the washrooms only for me to stop when I heard sniffling coming from one of the stalls. A whole damn man crying in the bathroom like a heartbroken teenager? Very funny.
“Please you can’t do this to me Jaden. I love you,” Wait, I know that voice? It was Sebastian’s. Now who was this Jaden person that made him cry in a f*****g bathroom? His brother perhaps?
“I’m sorry that I missed dinner last night. My boss was being a b***h again and so I had to work for extra hours so I can finish up. You can’t break up with me because of that Jaden. You more than anyone know how much working at one of the biggest entertainment agencies means to me. I worked so damn hard and so now I can’t do anything to mess it up even if this means having to deal with my boss’s stuck-up ass,” The anger in his voice took me by surprise. So behind that calm façade he displayed at the office was a very snarky, bitter man. Well, played. How dare he call me a stuck up ass? I was in no way stuck.
“S-Sir?” It was his startled voice that shook me out of my mental rage. His ash blonde hair fell effortlessly over his right eye which was as puffy and red as the other eye.
“I need the contract in my office by the time I get there,” I ordered between clenched teeth.
“Ye, Sir,” he scurried out of the bathrooms without a second glance my way.
