0.1 Prologue

409 Words
A simpleton was walking through the less crowded streets of his village after witnessing his father march off into war to fight against the Murim Order.   His father wasn't skilled at warfare, nor was his father a part of an army. He was a farmer, who was fighting for the little land he had left. It goes without saying, that his father was about to die in this war, with the lot of farmers who chose to fight alongside him. But they had something which no ordinary man carried with them in this harsh world; willpower. They had the will to fight for their lives, instead of begging for it. But in the end, they lived like ants their whole lives, and were about to die like ants.   While thinking about this, the farmer's son walked slowly, with no emotion decorating his usually lit-up face. He continued to walk, until he noticed what he believed was a beggar. As the son of a man with a greater status, he didn't hesitate to stop and ask, "Old man, while the whole world fights, why do you sit in peace?" The man who was sitting in the corner of the street, wore old, torn, loose clothing. His hair was long and scruffy, while his beard was in the form of stubble. His eyes were closed, but anyone could tell that he was in fact, awake. He broke his silence by saying, "We all have the choice to live in the world we desire.", in his strained, deep voice, yet he did not open his eyes.  Pleased with the answer, the 17 year old walks away, masking the small amount of happiness he felt on hearing that. He walks and walks with the same attitude, and by the time he reaches the small hut he lives in, he finds a resolve.  Of all things, he decides to cut his hair. Why? Because he found meaning in what a beggar said. He believed that the beggar meant to say that he could change himself and accordingly, his whole world would change. And so he did change. After cutting his hair with a dagger, he decided to be a monk.  He decided to avert all actions of violence, by dodging them.  As he looks at the dagger, the monk smiles as he sees his bald head, taking pride in his decision. He steps out of his empty house, and walks towards the battlefield, with a naive idea to change the world.
