Chapter 3

"Kayden..." I wanted to ask him what was wrong but the next sentence he said hurt me badly. "Stop calling my name! And don't ever come near me!!" He took a step forward and hesitated for awhile before sprinting off in full speed away from me. Water droplets were hitting the ground. I reached out for my face and realised I was tearing. I clenched tightly onto my shirt, breathing in and out deeply. My heart was hurting so badly as if someone has tore it apart. I headed back to class, walking like a zombie. Seeing my puffy eyes, Chloe kept on asking me what has happened. I shook my head, not wanting to answer her questions. Not now, I thought. "Dafina, are you sure you will be fine?" Chloe asked me with a worried tone. "I will be fine. I'm just acting strange. Out of character." I went on mumbling how inappropriate I was feeling. I shouldn't be sad. I have no reason to be sad. He has a choice. Everyone has a choice. He chose not wanting to talk to me. Moreover, it was just the first day. Relationship wouldn't just develop instantly on the first day. Maybe I should go and try to make friends with other people instead. Madison and Ava seemed to be nice. But I just couldn't help it. My thoughts would drift back to Kayden. Should I give up? Or should I try harder to get him talk to me? I let out a frustrated groan and stopped myself from thinking about it. I headed to where I've packed my bicycle and rode back home. I washed myself up and lie down on the bed. I tossed and turned a thousand times, unable to get my mind to rest in peace. Till the next morning, I woke up with a pair of panda eyes. I couldn't sleep. My mind was filled with Kayden. Kayden's voice, Kayden's eyes, Kayden's back, Kayden's nose, Kayden's face, Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden Kayden!!!! Argh! I think I'm going insane soon!!!I screamed in my mind. I dragged my feet down my bed and headed to the bathroom. I looked into the mirror and got a shock of my entire life. I looked like some ghostly figure. Guess I really didn't manage to sleep well. After preparing myself, I headed to school with some anticipation. I hoped to catch a glimpse of him today despite of what he said to me yesterday. When I reached school, I realized Chloe and Aiden were standing at the corridor waiting for me. "Dafina, what wrong with you?!" Chloe looked at me from top to bottom. "You looked as if a bus has just rammed over you." "Do I look that bad?" I asked and sighed. "It's nothing. Just unable to sleep well." Chloe looked at me with a pair of worried eyes. "Is it about... Kayden?" I played with my fingers while saying, "I don't know. I'm getting strange feelings." I looked towards her, not sure of how to explain to her the feelings I felt towards Kayden but she seemed to understand. "You feel an unusual attraction towards him?" I nodded in response. Chloe kept silence for a while before continuing. "You just have to give him more time." "Chloe, what do you mean?" I eyed her suspiciously. Does she know something that I do not know? She just met Kayden yesterday too right? Oh wait. Kayden is Aiden's friend. Aiden is Chloe's boyfriend. So Chloe might meet him beforehand. No wonder yesterday Aiden only introduced his friends to me. That makes sense. "Do you know something that I do not know?" I asked cautiously. Chloe hesitated for a while and looked at Aiden. They seemed as if they are communicating with each other through their mind. After a few minutes, Chloe turned his attention back to me. "Dafina, I'm sorry for hiding some things from you. There are some things I couldn't say before. But now, situation has changed. However, I am still not going to reveal things yet. We just got to wait till the time ripes. The only thing that I'm telling you is don't give up on him. The feelings that you felt for him may be kind of abrupt but just don't deny those feeling." I raised my eyebrow, not quite understand what Chloe was trying to tell me. She sighed a bit and patted my shoulder. "You will understand someday. In the meantime, just try to make him open up to you. I will help you!! We will all help you. Right Aiden?!" Chloe nudged him using her elbow. "Yea! Of course!" Aiden smiled widely at me. "Okkkk...." I dragged my answer. My mind was still trying to sort out what Chloe was trying to tell me. Honestly, I was quite confused. I wasn't sure did I understand correctly or not at all. During all the lessons, I was not concentrating. All I heard was the teachers were rumbling about some theories. My mind was focusing on lunch time. I was hoping to see Kayden there. My mind was running through the things that I could say to him if I did meet him. As soon as the lesson ended, I packed my stuff and walked over to the canteen with Aiden and Chloe. To my disappointment, he wasn't in school today. As we reached the table. I could see everyone there except Kayden. I thought he was somewhere in the campus but they told me that he didn't come to school at all.
