1599 Words
BIANCA’s POV. Define a douche bag? No, not a douche bag. What do you call a lady who lost her virginity at the age of sixteen, got celibate after, then after years f****d her boss behind the stage, tendered her resignation letter, got married to a man who lied to her then finally divorced him because she discovered he does men too, that lady is me Claire Greene “About the Boss?” I hear one of my old employee say and I move very close to my little office’s door to listen further. “Yes, you know I just got hired. I need tips from an oldie to please the boss.” The new worker replies. “Right. If she wasn’t the one who hired me, I wouldn’t have believed she is the boss.” He starts and I place my hand on my waist. “Really?!” The newbie asks and I roll my eyes. “Her name is Bianca, but that’s not her real name.” Alec continues. “What’s her real name and how did you know?” She asks. “She got herself drunk last Christmas and you know the true confessions that comes with drinking strong liquors. She told me a lot that night and I listened to all, but after that day she became my best friend. Don’t be too surprised when you see her dress in an apron, trying to join us.” Alec tells her and I smile. “She cooks and serves just like I will be doing?” Newbie asks and my phone vibrates in my hand. “Mila.” I say into the phone as I walk back to my swivel chair. “Bianca, I am coming back to Bianca’s palace. There’s no coffee and omelette  like yours, like ours. Alec told me we’ve gotten a newbie.” She rants. “That’s fast, but I am not surprised. How about you start coming now? Because as soon as I turn the bar sign from close to open, we are going to have customers rushing in for breakfast.” I reply. “C’mon, why are we best friends? I am at your apartment already neat freak.” She says and I roll my eyes. “The newbie seems to be scared of me.”  I start. “If only she knows. Okie I think I am bored already, I am coming to work like right now. We aren’t going to be twenty seven forever.” She says with a high pitched voice and I end the call with a small laugh. I get off my chair, taking my apron off my desk at the same time. I step out of my office and drop my phone into my pocket. “Bianca.” Alec shouts as soon as he sees me. “Eggs, flour, baking powder…” “Minced meats and oil.” He completes as he walks towards me with a tray containing the contents I have just requested for. “Newbie?” I call out and she runs over to my side. “Boss?” She says bowing a bit and I grin. “oh my, Alec. You didn’t tell her about that too?” I ask. “Oh! And never call her boss, call her name because she is nice.” Alec adds as he leaves our sides. “I forgot your name.” I say as I begin to mix. “Steph, but you can call me Tiffany.” She says with a smile. “Seven cups of empresso  and seven of latte. “I tell steph and she nods. “Begin the noodles, the b***h is coming back today.” I tell Alec. “b***h called me first.” He replies and I watch Steph smile. “By the way Steph, since Alec has told you a lot about me, I guess he is trying to draw you into our friendship group.” I say as I mix the dough. “You are nice actually, right from the time you interviewed me.” She replies and I smile, then shake my head as I continue. As soon as we are done with the first , I inhale the aroma of the prepared meals. I walk over to the door and turn the bar sign. I sit at the far end of my café and watch the people rush in. There is this feeling of satisfaction I can’t seem to explain as I watch people eat based on my own recipe, but that is wasn’t my dream… “Bianca?” I hear Alec call out to me and I stand up. “You seem to have an admirer.” Alec says. “She does, always.” I hear Mila’s voice and I turn to look at her. “Mila.” I say and I give her a hug. “So I am back, what’s newbie’s name?” She asks as she pats my back and pull away. “Tiffany.” Alec replies and she nods. She takes her apron off the stool and walk over to me. “If he keeps on watching you, why don’t you go on and ask him what his order is.” She whispers and I shake my head. “No, I am never letting any man near my heart again.” I reply and she smiles. “Why am I your best friend? At least know his intention before you conclude that he wants you.” She says.  “It is what they wanted,  Xavier, Kayden and him, the man I can never forget White Sean Flemmings.” I say and end my statement with a sigh. “He doesn’t care about you.” She replies. “No, maybe he did but he never showed. I resigned first.” I say. “Nevertheless, you do not know this new man’s intension. What if he is just here to grab a cup a coffee and he isn’t even interested in having you? You didn’t even look at the hottie I am pointing at.” She says and I turn to look at him. I don’t want to sound cliché right now, but damn. This man is really hot, but his scythe-shaped eyebrows are nothing compared to Sean’s thin and narrow crescent of moon eyebrows. His roman nose is nothing compared to Sean’s imperious nose, his… “Bianca?” I hear Mila say as she waves in front of me. “It’s fine. Before you become dramatic, I will go and take his order myself.” I say and take one of the available food menu. I control my nervous self as I walk towards him and his hands balls into a fist on the table. “Hi.” I say, ignoring his eyes flickering at me with curiosity embedded in them. “This makes it exactly twenty seven minutes and someone is just coming to take my orders?” He asks with anger lacing his manly voice. Scratch any thought of crushing on him, I am allergic to bad mouths. ‘You would be angry if the same thing happens to you.’ Right, thanks inner mind. ”We are sorry about that, would you still love to place an order? You should. For a bad service, you will get a free cup of coffee and trust the taste.” I say, trying to compensate and he sighs. “Okay. It’s a breakfast restaurant, give me the best on your list.” He says without raising his head from his phone. How rude. “Okay.” I reply and walk back to where Mila, Alec and Tiffany seems to have find something very interesting since they have their teeth out. “He looks super rich.” Alec says as he smiles to me and I blow my bangs with my mouth. “Take his orders, he wants the best on our list.” I say and Mila grabs my hand. “You should.” She says. “Trying to set me up with a man won’t work and you know it.” I reply. “This, I didn’t set up. I know it’s difficult but you can make friends? Alec can’t be your only male friend.” She pesters and I nod. “I don’t see a thing happening between me and that man. I don’t even know why we are talking about a stranger.” I say and she pats my shoulder. “Tiffany, let’s make another seven.” She says as she leaves my side and I watch Alec take Mr. Arrogant’s  order to him as I walk into my office. I take off my apron and drop it roughly on my desk, before moving to sit on my swivel chair. I turn my back to the door and watch people walk by my window as thoughts run through my head. “Bianca?” I hear Alec’s voice as he opens the door without knocking. “Yes?” I say as I turn in my chair to face him. “He is requesting to see the boss.” He says and I raise my brows. “What happened?” I ask. “He is being rude.” He answers and I stand up. I walk out after Alec and shut the behind me. “How did it taste?” I ask as I approach him and he raise his head to look at me. “Very good. Did you make it yourself? No, that’s not the question. Are you the boss?” He asks and I narrow my eyes at him. “Alec you can leave.” I say and sit right in front of Mr. Arrogant. “You look like someone who wouldn’t sit in a minor café. Why are you here?” I ask, propping my hands on the table. “You don’t want rich people patronizing you? Actually you are right. My secretary and body guard claimed to find the figure I have been searching for.” He starts. “A figure you have been searching for?” I ask. “Yes.” “Who is the figure?” I ask and he smiles for the first time since he walked in. “You.” He replies and I scoff. “What are you talking about?” “Every lady out there is willing to work for me. To appear on the vogue magazine and front of every advert board in this country and beyond…” He wants to continue, but I stop him. “I know where you are going. If it is becoming a model, I am not interested.” I say and get up, but he grabs my hand. “You should check out this contract papers. My company’s address is at the top, show up when you reconsider, Claire Bianca Greene.” He says and my mouth falls open as he places the money for his order on the table and walk out.
