I knocked patiently on our door, waiting for someone to answer. By now the rain had stopped and the warm sun had sent its rays down at us making it almost impossible to believe that an unfriendly rain had just poured on me. The door was swung open and Dale poked his head out to confirm whose presence was at the door before he revealed himself fully. He looked surprised to see me standing, hugging myself right, as a means of self protection and to provide warmth for myself. "What happened to you?" He questioned, pulling me inside the house. "Please make me some hot chocolate." I ignored his question and instead went upstairs to get change of clothes. I didn't need anyone to tell me that I was going to catch a cold. Spikes was still making me feel mad. Usually, I'd feel extremely terrible for hitting someone who was nothing more than a stranger. I didn't believe in leaving bad impressions on the first few meetings but he was different, I felt more glorious than hurt. I felt that would keep him away from me permanently. I opened my bedroom door and immediately walked towards my closet. It wasn't a walk in closet, another thing I had added to the list of things that I would change when I was finally married. I walked to the mirror to check my breasts out. They weren't a woman's dream size as they were incredibly small but thanks to the invention of padded bras, which I wore double all the time, it was hard to tell with clothes on. I was super shy of them in Job's presence and I wondered what he'd say on our wedding night when I finally allowed him him have s*x with me. Surely, he wouldn't throw me out by then. My thoughts were cut by a loud sneeze against my volition, reminding me to pull a sweatshirt over my head. * By evening, I was down with a terrible cold. I still hadn't found a way to get a new phone so that I could mostly call Job and apologize to him. I was lying in bed with at least three blankets wrapped around me and two boxes of tissues with my store's brand name on it.  The wall clock in my room read 'seven thirty' on the dot. I needed rest, so much rest. "Lana?" Dave called as he knocked from the other side of the door. He didn't wait for a permission response from me before coming in. "You have a call from the store." He said, and came to sit by the foot of the bed. "Why?" I asked with a nasal twang to my voice and it was all thanks to my clogged up nose. "I have no idea." He started. I reluctantly received the phone from him and sneezed at least three times before calling into the phone,"Lana William on the phone." "Hi miss, there's the Spanish snacks we've been waiting to have, and they have sent their representative to come have the deal finalized so they can begin supplying us." A female staff announced to me on the phone. "Why this time of the day? " I frowned as my eyes landed on the wall clock once more. Dale by now had begun pacing around the room. "They were able to get the approval contract today ma'am." She replied softly. "Well go ahead, I'm si-" "But ma'am we've done every thing we need do,all that's left is your signature." "Whatever, tell them I'll sign it tomorrow." She cut me off one more time,"you know it's a new brand and they have a lot of offers, if we miss this one big opportunity, who knows if we'll ever get another chance at the offer. Knowing very well that i'd lost, I sighed and nodded through the phone "I'll be there as soon as I can." "Yes ma'am, I'll inform them." I turned to look at my brother who watched me with wary eyes. "Is everything okay?" "Yeah a contract which approval we sought, has finally been approved. And I need to be there right now, so we don't end up losing it. "Why can't it wait?" "I don't know either." I sighed and got up from my bed. "Listen, just go get the car ready for me. I'll be on my way." * The store wasn't filled with customers when I got there. It was most likely to blame for the rain and the late hour but then I didn't exactly mind. I had already called the store to let them know I'd be signing the contract in my office and so they could send whoever it was in while I waited. I turned the heater in my office all the way up and rested my head on the desk and internally promised myself to ensure that a few rules were made and adjusted so that I was never disturbed at a time like this unless I wanted it. A slight knock came on the door and the knocker didn't wait for my response before coming in. The knock came a bit as a little shock and I raised my head up to look at whoever it was. My eyes went so wide, I was almost certain they were going to pop out of their sockets. It was Spikes again! Why he was here was here I had no idea but I most certainly wanted to get rid if him with immediate effect. It seemed to be that everywhere he showed up in my presence, bad things came along. I wondered who on earth let him in here. My office was just for official purposes, nothing else. "Excuse me? Why are you here?!" I frowned and folded my hands while I stood go my feet and begun walking towards him. "You again?" A smirk played on his lips. "Seems like fate constantly wants to bring us together, don't you think?" He chuckled as he said the words and then walked right past me and went straight to sit on one chair opposite mine. "Don't tell me you're the Lana that owns this store." He rolled himself around comfortably in the office chair,"how Coincidental is that even?" "Okay first of all, I'd love to know who foolishly let you in here, and second, how did you find me again?!" I grumbled, pulling on his neck sleeves, effortlessly trying to get him to sit up. "I'm here officially." He said and extended his hand that had a sort of white envelope in it. I stared blankly at the envelope for a while and then involuntarily gasped when I came to figure out that he was in fact, the person that had been sent from the Spanish organization to sign the contract of approval for the store's snacks. "You work with them?" I asked, clearly still surprised by everything that was presently going on. "Apparently yes." He smirked again and stood to his feet. All of a sudden, I felt intimidated by his height and how he seemed to be towering over me and therefore, I took his seat so I could feel a little less smaller. "How's that even possible?" I groaned, "everytime I run into you, something insane or terribly bad, goes on." I palmed my face and shook my head regretfully. I looked up once more and self decided that it was best to rush the details of the contract so I could get him and what ever Ill luck it was that was stuck like moth and constantly followed him, out of my office and store. "Here, hand them over. I'll sign them so you can take your leave as quick as possible, the sight of you irritates me." I told him. I told him with a scrunched up face so it felt like I was actually in disgust. He sat once more as he previously had and an unpleasant frown glued to his face. "Excuse me but why don't you seem to like me?" He handed the envelope over. I sealed it open and brought the little paper piece in it, scanning it's content to go through and see where my signatory attention was needed whilst giving him answers to his annoying questions. "Well you see, we've only known each other for two days, just two days and in that short period, you've almost hit me with a car, splashed mud on me, caused me to lose my phone and the ice breaker, got me in a quarrel with my fiance." I spoke, not looking up at him for even a second. "That isn't reason enough to dislike me." He scoffed, clearly getting annoyed with the conversation's direction. I brought out a pen from a drawer in my desk and began to sign on all necessary and required places. "You think I dislike you?" I paused to look at him and shook my head with a fake ass smile. "I hate you, Spikes." The words came out faster than I could control and their harshness only hit me at the indescribable look that appeared on his face. I honestly didn't mean it that way. Of course I didn't hate him. All of these events that I presumed bad luck equally had me to blame for it and so I was only venting my frustrations at him. I opened my mouth to apologize but he stopped me short. "Then your f*****g loss!" He banged his hands on my desk, a reflexive act that made me flinch. "Hate is such a strong word if you have no idea and I don't think it should be used on anyone at all."  He stood to his feet and resumed his rants."I'm the kind of guy that every woman wants, the hero, the handsome, the unique, the intelligent, sexy Spikes and I can make any woman I want, fall in love with me, when I want." With his statement, my apology was immediately swallowed and I felt my ego shatter. What kind of attitude was he willing to give to me? in my own office! "Well excuse you, I'm not any f*****g woman. And, even if I wasn't engaged, I would never fall in love with someone who thinks so highly of himself." I scoffed. "Oh give me a break, if I wanted to, I would flip you over this desk in a second, rip your clothes and f**k the daylights out of you." He said casually as if the words his lips conveyed were weightless. I had no idea when my hands moved up on their own volition but, I hit him. I hit him hard across the face. My s*x life was something I didn't toy with especially since the incident with Drake. Still boiling hot in anger, I picked the contract form lying innocently on my desk up and right in front of him, ripped it to pieces that would eternally remain impossible to stick back together. His jaw dropped in awe as his eyes followed every piece of ripped paper and every pattern that each and every one formed. "What did you just do?!" He exclaimed in shock. "Well," I stated,"if the organization is going to send representatives just like you, then tell them we have no interest in keeping this deal with them." I scoffed and proceeded to dial security. "Security?" I called intensely into the phone while he just stood there phased and most likely surprised at my act. "You're f*****g calling security on me?" -"watch me." "I'll leave on my own accord." He sounded so shocked. It was almost as if he didn't ever expect to meet this side of me which must deeply explain why he was like that. Well, he left me no choice anyways. He hurriedly walked out the door, although not before he stopped to look at me, at least twice. I had a headache already and it was compiled with the fever the rain had got me. With frustration, I groaned at the thought of the fact that I had basically walked out of my bedroom's comfort zone all for no reason. That was two slaps, in one day.
