Chapter 2

Unknown POV She was so perfect and beautiful, I thought my body would explode right then and there. I’ve never felt anything like that before. I wanted to scream for her but my voice was weak. I wanted to help her, hold her, kiss her, save her but couldn’t. I’ve never been this desperate in my entire. Is this what love feels like? I’ve never believed in love at first sight or the tales my mother told me about love but she seemed to embody all of them. She was the one, I was sure of this. And I was going to have her for me sooner or later. She was mine, Mrs. Bliss. Fate gave her to me. Mia’s POV My body was trembling like crazy. It was him! He was so handsome and powerful, a wave of fear and magical desire flooded my body and I was unable to refuse him. He grabbed me by my hand and threw me to the bed with force and precision. I was too shocked to even scream. This is what I wanted, wasn’t it? A hot guy to kiss me and take pleasure, to feel his body next to mine but this… this wasn’t exactly what I envisioned. I was ugly, helpless, dressed in rags and he was going to treat me like one, too. No. No! This is NOT what I want! I struggled against him for a bit, even managed to hit his shoulder with the poor umbrella but it soon flew out of my hand, he pushed himself on top of me and I was helpless but I didn’t stop fighting. When he leaned for a kiss, against the deep desires of my woman’s heart, I spit right into his dreamy eyes and while he leaned back to remove my salvia from his perfect angel face, I did the unthinkable and slapped him, not once, not twice but over and over again, screaming desperately like a madwoman. He was shocked just as much as I was and then, when he finally realised that he would need more than his strength to subdue me, he realised his mistake- his wand stayed in his silky coat on the floor by the door. I scratched his beautiful face and a drop of blood showed on his marble face. Fury overtook him and as he sprang up to get his wand and punish me, I jumped up and stood on the heavy bed. He grabbed his wand and with hatred in his eyes, grabbed me forcing me to fall to the ground. It hurt but I didn’t stay down for long. I quickly got back on my feet and moved to the broken furniture behind the curtains where the two birds were screeching like crazy. I didn’t care. “You’ll pay for this, you stupid worthless daughter of rebels. You have no magic! I have all the power here and I WILL NOT BE DENIED!” he shouted with fury and put his hand up. I knew what was going to happen and quickly curled into a ball. My hand landed on the metallic cage of the two birds. What happened next, I will never forget. Everything became hot and red. The wizard moved back, afraid for his life and before I understood what was happening, he was out the door squealing like a little girl. I opened my eyes, stood up slowly and turned around. In front of me stood a handsome angel-like figure of a young man with amber eyes. His face, perfectly symmetrical and manly was looking at me with absolute admiration, passion and desire. No one ever looked at me like that. Then I noticed the rest. His blonde wild hair was on fire, just like was his half naked body. He was on fire! I shrieked with utter fear, closed my eyes and tried to take a few steps back but could not. Something strong grabbed me by my waist and before I knew it, I was engulfed by the flames. I heard a huge bang and in less than a second, I found myself in the air, high above the orphanage. The creature roared with fury. I was so scared I didn’t dare to open my eyes. Then another roar, different, calmer, answered his and I heard another bang and the sound of wings beating the air. I opened my eyes. I was hanging in the creatures grasp and below me, in the street in front of the arcades ran panicked and screaming wizards and witches. I even saw Mrs. Bliss run out of the building and look with hatred at the creature holding me. I looked up and saw against the blue starry sky a blue, glowing figure of a beautiful dragon engulfed in blue flames. Then I dared to look at the creature holding me. He was golden, glowing with the most beautiful flames. His whole body was magnificent and grand and I truly wouldn’t have screamed like I had safe for the fact that he, too, was in flames. He looked at me with pity as I tried to free myself but nothing worked. Maybe if I were a witch I would have at least hit him with an exploding curse but no. I was nothing more than a human. He opened his wings and soon we were both soaring through the sky. I was terrified. He could drop me. He could eat me or worse, BURN ME! The red flames licked the cold air. Good thing that his arm wasn’t on fire. He flew high and fast above the cursed Moon City and the forests beyond it. He flew fast, reaching the blue dragon. I had no idea where we were going or how long we would stay up in the air. I was exhausted, my entire waist was crushed and it was painful to breath. I was slowly falling into the darkness of hopelessness until we reached our destination: a lone, high tower, standing like a spike out of the ocean of trees. I could even see the icy, moonlit peaks of the Forbidden Mountains against the black night sky. I turned to look at my captor and saviour at the same time. He was flying down and firmly towards the tower. I screamed thinking he would smash into it or something but he didn’t. Ge laid me gently down on the windowsill of a huge open crystal window. I crumbled onto the wooden floor, weak after the adventure. “And who is this, Luke?! Tell me, now!” demanded an old voice. “I don’t know. Don’t ask me.”, answered a young man with a bored voice. I looked up at my new host, an old man dressed in old purple robes and a pointy hat. A wizard! I got up as fast as I fell down and jumped towards the window but I did not reach it. My cold body touched something soft and hot. I turned around quick. It was the same guy- the one in fire that looked at me with such passion in the tower. He was closing the window with his right hand while he grabbed me with the other one, pulling me closer towards him. His eyes, full of fire and desire, were locked on my face. “She’s mine.”, he said with a possessive tone. A sweet tingling sensation appeared in my tummy and my knees began to tremble again. Can’t I hold it in my pants, like, ever?! I was furious with myself. The last time I thought of guys I ended up locked in my room. I wasn’t going to give in so easily, even if it meant fighting every inch of my body. “Ah, this explains a lot.”, said the man behind my back. He put his arms on my shoulders and with false politeness and calmness said “Ok, girl, we’ve got to get you something warm to drink and new clothes and… eh… what is your name?”. I answered coldly. He wasn’t trying to calm me down, no. it was the guy holding me. “ and get covered, Kai!”. At least it worked. “Molly, get here and prepare some supper!”, shouted the man opening the heavy door. His voice echoed down the staircase. A woman’s voice answered calling him a lazy clown who demanded too much of his cook and didn’t pay enough. She changed the tone when she heard that masters Luke and Kai were back. She jumped into the room joyously, praising the heavens for the return of the masters. She was round as a ball, short, all dressed in pink and white. She prepared the table swiftly, putting down the plates and food. Of course, only three sets. Like many before her, she forgot about me. She hugged each guy with intense fury, happiness and adoration and then turned to me. She stopped for a second, grasped and let out a cry of utter joy. “Another woman in the tower! Finally, Corbus! You know what I need! How nice!” she squealed and hugged me, too. Then, realising her mistake of not bringing enough plates, she jumped out of the room. An uneasy silence followed. I looked around the room. It was round, dusty and cluttered with books and magical instruments. Maps and parchment littered the floor. In the middle stood the little round table where the supper was set. Luke grabbed himself a chair and sat by my right side. He looked totally different from Kai. His hair was black like coal. He was taller and leaner, too. The only thing they shared were the amber eyes. He was dressed in a loose white shirt. He kept looking at me with great interest. I lowered my head, uneasy. Kai grabbed the chai and wanted to sit on my left side but the wizard, Corbus, stood in his way. He was forced to sit in front of me. I didn’t know what made me feel more uneasy. Luke’s careless, interest look or Kai’s possessive look. The wizard wasn’t happy. The atmosphere was dripping with intensity. Molly ran in with cakes, toasts, meats, tea and a set of plates for me. She made a lot of noise with her nonstop chattering, happy that no one cared to stop her. As soon as she left, again, uneasy silence befell the room. I ate my food slowly, trying to enjoy every piece of it. I’ve never eaten toast, cake and unspoilt meat before. And the tea tasted much better than the poison they gave us in the orphanage. It was almost heaven. The only thing making it something else were the guys. “So, Mia. Tell us something about yourself.”, said the wizard after a long time of tension filled silence. I had no idea what to say. I’ve never met a wizard who asked me to say something, let alone about myself. That was something new just like being kidnapped/saved by the dragons. “Um… sir… I’m Mia… nonmagical… seventeen but eighteen in a month… um… I don’t know…”, I said. “Do you have family?”, asked the wizard. “No, sir.”, I answered. “You’re a virgin?”, he asked making me blush. I only dared to nod my head. “Are you sure you’re not a magical creature?”. I didn’t answer. I was never sure. I hoped that I wasn’t but I never went through the rite. Luke cut in. “I don’t think this is the case. She did break the witches curse on the cage and us, feeing us from the hell, so, technically, she must be…” “Never mind that, for now. Mia, do you have anywhere you’d like to go?”, asked the wizard. “No, sir.”, I answered. “Then, there’s no reason why you should return to Moon city. We’ll try to find you safe passage through the mountains to the Wall…”, he began but Kai wasn’t having any of it. He stood up, almost knocking over the entire table. “She’s not going anywhere!”, he roared, “She’s mine!”. I almost fainted, fearing what truth hid behind these words.
