001 : Lady Tyra
I didn't want to die. I wanted to live. I wanted to graduate college and work. I wanted to have a spouse and then have my own children. I wanted to grow old and them eventually die a normal death. I didn't want to die this way. Life is so unfair. I was just a seventeen year old student studying for this up coming major exam. An exam that could change my life forever. Unfortunately, fate wanted to play a little game with me. On my way home from the library, I ended up getting involved in a serious car accident that led me to my sudden death. I ran out of ways to curse the heavens for letting me meet my end without prior notice. Just when I was starting to get my life together. A day prior to the accident however, I had been obsessed by a novel called ' The Hidden Princess and her Knight'. I recall spending three days just binge reading to that thing and finishing it. The plot was attractive and so were the characters. Scenery borderline gorgeous and the way the writer expressed her words felt like syrup drawled on pancakes. Basically, the story follows a young girl named Lilian who had lived all her life at a nearby humble village. One day, a couple of Royal guards show up and there they claim that the king had been searching far and wide for the missing princess : her. Lilian returns back to the palace and there she meets the villain of the story. Lady Tyra - the first born of the King's second concubine - became jealous of Lillian. Compared to Lilian, who's graceful and considerate, Tyra possess the personality that resembles a witch that's isolated herself from people. She's fired almost everyone she comes to dislike and steps on people who are below her. While it took Tyra a long time to gain her father's attention, Lilian managed to capture it the second she stepped foot inside the palace. The king showed more favor to a daughter he only knew existed recently, rather than the daughter whose been trying to gain his love and affection for years. And of course, what's a romance story without a love interest? Three to be exact. A Prince, mage of the high tower and the royal Knight. "Lady Tyra, it's time to wake up." Oh. And did I forget to mention that right after the accident, I had woken up as a baby within the palace? Sixteen years before the story officially began. Crazy, right? Life back then wasn't easy. I was a daughter of the second concubine. A seedling from a woman who was barely there for me. Needless to say, she despised me simply because I was born a girl. Had I been born a boy, that would automatically place me as a candidate for the next line on the throne. "Lady Tyra." There goes that voice again. It's already been sixteen years since I've woken up inside the novel of 'The Princess and her Knight'. And although the life of a princess can be exhausting, it does have its perks. I don't have to worry about money or the fact that I'll have to clean up after myself. They have the palace staff doing all that. In the story, Lady Tyra dies at the hands of the Knight under the order of the King since she was caught trying to poison the princess. You'd think for a villain, she got what she deserved. But it's different if you've become that villain of your favorite story. The second I realized that I was Lady Tyra, I was set on to change my fate. I didn't want to end up dying under the sword of anyone after all. I died once. I cant die again all because of some stupid plot. And besides, even if I change my future, I doubt it'll affect the original story line. I'll just have to step aside when the characters finally meet each other. I'll then have secured my life and we all live happily ever after. So ever since I could start walking, I made sure to show the cheerful side of myself regardless of how hard it was. I tried not making so much fuss while growing up and treated the staffs of the palace like real human beings. "Lady Ty-" "I'm up, I'm up." I groan as I shoot up from the covers, hair a mess and a drool cascading down the side of my lips. I refuse to peer my eyes open so in the mean time, I just sit there with my eyes closed. "I'll prepare the bath now, my lady." Mira gently says, seconds before she exits the room. Mira's my personal handmade. After living here for sixteen years, I realize there are a lot of people who just naturally hate Lady Tyra. I personally picked Mira as my hand maid since she's closer to my age. She must have had a minor role since the story never mentioned anything about her. Or her name. In the original story, Lady Tyra would get up even before the sun would rise, properly dress up before stopping by the King's office to greet him a good morning. I stuck to that role in hopes that maybe I could gain favor from the king. It did not work. So after fifteen years of shamelessly seeking for his affection, I decided to stop completely. Tyra visited him every day in the original book. Can you imagine how exhausting that is? But since I'm in Tyra's body, I refuse to greet someone who barely acknowledges my existence. One way or another, Lady Tyra was one stubborn girl. Even when the King showed no interest, she kept doing what she did. Anything to gain his good side. The ginormous door creaks open and in comes Mira. "Your bath is ready now, my lady." Did I mention the way people talk here is way too formal? Unfortunately, jargon still hasn't been invented in this era. "I'm fine on my own." Mira barely shows any reaction, staring at the ground with a soft smile contouring her lips. "I'm afraid I can't allow you to do that, my lady. I'm here to serve you after all." I know that. But the thought of having someone bath you is just so..weird. Even if I've been here for sixteen years already. I gave up adjusting myself to their customs the second I could read. But not everything of course. Things like bathing and dressing myself, I prefer to do it without any help. "I know. But really. I can handle this." After a moment of silence, she reluctantly agrees. "Very well, my lady. But if you changed your mind, I'll be right here when you need me." I'll definitely not need you. I murmur in my heart. "Awsome. Laters." Mira looks up, showing confusion in her eyes. But I'm already inside taking my bath, missing her reaction.
