Chapter 3

My thoughts were quickly pushed aside when I heard a soft snore come from Tyler. I smiled and stared at his sleeping state. He was so angelic. I had to admit he did take after me. He had soft brown hair that ran in long strides. His skin was fair, that of a porcelain doll. He had chubby cheeks and his eyes squinted when he smiled. Almost making them looked closed. He had my same button nose and plump lips, his hair was exactly like mine. Although his skin was a softer shade of white than mine. He was my male replica. Everything accepts... His eyes. Along with his brother. Identical to be exact. The same face and skin tone. The only difference? Their hair. Tyler's hair was smooth and straight and a light brown while Ashton's hair was black. Everything else was exactly the same. Same cheeks and nose. Same skin tone. The Same eyes... My eyes resembled the ocean. Pure blue and soft. Tyler and Ashton's eyes, on the other hand, were bold and cunning and a hazel shade. Just like their father... like HIM... I shook my head. The twins are nothing like him, that monster. The twins are loving and innocent while HE was cold-hearted and a bastard. I decided that I would go and see him. I had nothing to lose, right? Maybe? But I'll plan ahead, if tires anything, I'll just call the cops. I'll have the number dialed and my finger will be hovering over the call button at all times. I could also scream and yell for help. Maybe I could ask someone if they could pretend to be my boyfriend or a friend. A bodyguard? Something. I glanced at the clock and read the time. 2:00. Well, I have an hour to get ready and go to the park. I grabbed the baby bag and checked it to see if I had everything. I wasn't going to stay long so I pulled out some clothing and diapers. I changed out of my uniform and into some sweatpants and a t-shirt. I started to tie up my sneakers and then I decided to wake up the twins. "Tyler honey, wake up, we're going to the park. Ashton sweetie, wake up." I softly whispered. Tyler stirred and then opened his eyes. He rubbed them and sat up. I smiled at him and picked him up. I set him on the counter and put on his tennis shoes. Ashton soon woke up as well. He sat up and pulled himself to his feet. His small hands clutched the side of the crib as he watched me put on Tyler's shoes. Once I finished I set Tyler on the floor letting him go off and explore the house. I walked to the crib were Ashton was waiting. He lifted his arms and I picked him up. I gently placed him on the dresser and started to put on his shoes. Tyler grabbed his teddy bear and held onto my leg as I fixed Ashton's shoes. Once I finished with Ashton I set him down and he quickly ran to grab his stuffed bunny. I grabbed the car keys and the baby bag. I looked at the time and it read 2:30. I still had thirty minutes. Might as well wait for him. I walked to the car with my keys, my phone, and the baby bag. I held Ashton's hand while Tyler held his. Walking slowly so that the children could keep up. We made out the way to the car in silence. I was nervous about the meeting and was having second thoughts about going. A voice in the back of my head told me I that everyone deserves a second chance. I sighed and helped the twins into the car. I strapped them in their car seats and Tyler gripped his bear and Ashton played with his bunny. I climbed into the car and took a deep breath. I tried to calm myself. ‘I will do this. I will be strong. I will not let him win.’ I chanted to myself as I watched myself in the rearview mirror. I started the car and drove to the park. At least I won't be alone. I know that the park must be crowded. It almost always is at this time.
