Chapter 1

1170 Words
Chapter One My name is Ambrosia Donahue. Looking at me you’d never know that my life is a mess, you’d think I had the perfect life. The perfect parents, friends and family that a person could ask for. But what you don’t know is, I’m threatened on a daily basis, by my d**k of a biological father, who just so happens to be Zeus, Ruler of the skies, earth and holder of the lightning bolt, The God of Olympus. I wasn’t raised by him. Thank the gods. I was raised by my other father, Hades (Ruler of the Underworld, Riches/Wealth and The Cosmos) In the underworld.  My home. Where I belong. Or so I thought. But I haven’t seen home in 3 years since my Dad, Hades died or so they say. I still don’t believe he is dead. He can’t be dead; He is after all a God. His death never made any sense to me. I replay that day in my head like it was yesterday:   *FLASHBACK*    *Ambrosias Prospective*     “Ms. Donahue!” Yelled Mrs. O’Hare. “When you’re in my class you will pay attention! Quit staring out that window and do your work! Don’t make me call your Uncle again!” I took my eyes off the window long enough for her to see me roll my eyes at her. Mind you, I wouldn’t normally roll my eyes at her, especially when she’s on her war path, but today, I had enough of her s**t. “OUT!!! GET OUT OF MY CLASSROOM!!” She bellowed. Oh, s**t I thought. That did it. She’s really lost it. All my classmates turned around and stared as she barreled across the room towards her phone on the desk. Her fat jiggling just enough to make her look like penguin trying to run. The class began to snicker and whisper because of how she looked. I too, would normally join in, but today, I just couldn’t. I felt like if I took my eyes off the window, off of him, time would unfreeze. He would un see me. I couldn’t risk even a blink. For I would miss the intense stare of Lucian Mourningside. Those dark mysterious ruby red eyes always made him stand out. Let’s not forget the huge white angel wings either. We aren’t allowed to ask Lucian about his wings though. He’s, let’s just say, sensitive about it. He is the only one with angel wings mixed in with us gods and goddesses. Which is fine by us, but to him, it’s a slap in the face. My uncle took Lucian in when he was just a baby. He was cast out of Heaven by “God” because he was afraid Lucian would over throw him and he couldn’t have that. So, when Uncle found him, he immediately took him in, feeling his pain of abandonment and showed him true unconditional love. The classroom door slammed open; pulling me out of my trip down memory lane, but I didn’t bother to jump, because I knew who she called. The Gods and Goddesses guards and the principle. He smiled, that devilishly handsome grin. God damn, he may not be my uncle’s biological son, but somehow, he inherited that same stupid s**t eating grin.  I cracked a small smile and tucked a small strand of stray hair behind my ear. I lightly bit my lower lip and batted my eyes and I could see by his intense stare that he was interested. YES!!!  Finally!! He noticed me as more than a child! Score! I was yanked out of my inner freak out party as I heard the alarms sound. He must have heard them as well, because he spread those big wings and gave me a wink. Causing my heart to go directly into my throat and my stomach to tighten and my pulse racing for its life. His grin got even bigger, showing his bright white vampire like teeth. I swear he could feel what I was feeling and it was as if he was enjoying it. Like a lion stalking its prey. As the Guards got closer to me, he vanished. I spun around, pissed as hell for them interrupting whatever the hell that was going on between us. “Ambrosia, calm down.” Demanded Octavius. “Oh, my dear Octavius, do you want to play? I snickered. His eyes widened with fear. “Then let’s play a game.” I threw my right hand up to the sky calling the lightening, it surged thru my fingertips, down my arm and threw to my chest. Feeling the electricity race thru my body, damn does it feel good. My dad’s magic is powerful. It used to be my strongest. I slowly circled my left hand conjuring up the sea. It trickled down my bicep, up my forearm and entwined around my hand and fingers. This was always calming, especially since I knew I was about to electrocute this asshole again for the 9th time this week.  “You shouldn’t have done that my dear Octavius. Tsk. Tsk. What shall I do with you now?” I bet Uncle Hades could use some more souls down in the underworld. My eyes went from their normal vibrant purple, to a deep dark burgundy. The tips of my red hair turning blue as I conjure my necromancer side. I’m going to yank these fuckers’ souls straight from their chests today. I’ve had enough of this s**t. Just as I was about to launch a bolt of lightening at Octavius, Uncle walked in: “Ambrosia, you put that lightening bolt away this instant!” He commanded.  As if on cue, my magic withdrew and slammed back into me. I hated when he used that tone with me. He always won, and it was painful when my magic slammed back. I scowled at him, I cannot believe he did that to me, in front of everyone! He made me look weak! I fell to the ground, clutching my chest. I couldn’t breathe. I started to panic, my lungs filling with ocean water. Fathers lightening surging through my body still. I was basically electrocuting myself inside.  It looks as if I was having a seizure. My eyes flicking open and shut, turning cosmic. My skin was starting to streak with lightening bolts. Uncle picked me up and carried me out of the classroom screaming and withering in pain. “shhh, my darling, I know it hurts” he whispered. “It’ll be over soon my love; this is why we don’t use our magic outside of home.”
