Chapter One

1820 Words
Opening Song: A Little Wicked by Valerie Broussard *** "Who do you work for?!" He barked in my face as he held my hands sternly behind me. "I- I work alone" I stuttered, seeing that he was already analysing his opinion about me. That's exactly what I wanted. "Then why are you here!" he shouted the same exact words for the umpteenth time since he caught me, and I had to resist the urge to barf due to the smell of his breath. He had something that looked like cheese stuck in his bushy beard, and his cold gray eyes held no life whatsoever. Not that I expected better. Instead of answering him, I just looked around. The old warehouse was almost broken down, and it really puzzled me as to why they did business here. But then again, they are vile creatures so why wouldn't they? "Since you are not gonna answer me, I think I have a better alternative for you" He gritted out before planting handcuffs on my hands and pulling me towards the direction I had originally emerged from. Finally. "Wh-what are you gonna do to me?" I asked in my best scared voice as we stepped into the cold outside air. A shiver ran down my spine as the cold metals rubbed against my wrists. "You'll see soon enough" was all he said as he yanked me in the direction of a backyard. Disappointment immediately dawned on me when I saw that he wasn't taking me to a car or anything to get away from here. I wanted him to take me to him.  "You aren't taking me to your boss?" I asked, stopping dead in my tracks which halted his too. He gave me an annoyed and stupid look before shaking his head and attempting to pull me again, but I didn't budge. "Why not? Isn't he the one who is supposed to kill me for trespassing?" I basically bit out, dragging him back when he tried to pull me again. "Becauuuuse..." He drawled annoyed, "It's safer when we do it. So if you had hoped to use that pretty little ass of yours to get out of punishment with the boss, think again" I huffed in pure irritation and completely pulled myself from his grasp. He looked taken aback by my strength, and if I wasn't so upset about the situation, I would've flashed him my signature smirk. "Well you no longer have a purpose to me" I sneered as I swiftly swung the cuffs around his neck. He writhed and wiggled under my hold as I continued to squeeze the pathetic breath from his body. I would be doing the world a huge favour anyway. Finally he stopped struggling, and I let his limp body fall at my feet. I searched for the keys of the cuffs and my gun that he had taken then quickly made my way to the woods. I was so close to getting what I wanted. I really thought I had this one in the box, but I was back at square one. Now all that's left for me to do is go home and find an alternative. Somehow. "Hey stop right there!" A voice called out, hindering my attempts to escape. I groaned, hating the fact that I would have to face other jackasses. I really wasn't in the mood for a fight either. Slowly, I turned around to face whoever stopped me, and I was shocked to see seven men lined off at the door of the old building. I gripped my pistol tighter as I carefully eyed each one. Most of them had their eyes on the man I had just killed, but the others glared daggers right at my face. "Are you the cause of this?" A man with a thickly accented voice asked me. I folded my arms over my chest and parted my feet a little more so I was standing firm on the gravel. My eyes narrowed in slits as I watched each of them carefully before letting them fall on the one that asked the question. "And what if I am?" I asked boldly. "Then that wouldn't be good for you" He gritted out, taking a step closer to me. "It will be better for everyone if you just let me go. He was a d**k anyways" That seemed to be the breaking point for the dude, since he bolted towards me with a darkness in his eyes. I acted fast on impulse and quickly jumped out of his way, causing him to stumble a little. I took that as a chance to kick him flat on the ground, which only caused the others to erupt in anger. I huffed in annoyance since I really didn't plan to have a fight, and I was really unprepared. The plan was for me to come onto their property, be caught and be taken straight to the boss. Of course, I wasn't stupid enough to come into enemy land without at least one weapon, but it wasn't enough for taking seven men. Well it's either kill or be killed. And quite frankly, I wasn't ready to eat the dirt just yet. I hopped to the side when a slender dude pounced at me. I swung my fist right to his nose, causing him to fall to the ground with a grunt. I knew that wouldn't keep him long, but I had to dodge the kick that was coming straight for my head. Getting sick of the bullshit, I threw two shots to the next two men making their way towards me, rewarding them with a well deserved reunion with their fallen friend. This, however, only seemed to anger the others more and I was thrown to the gravel by some unknown force. My gun went flying and I lowly cursed under my breath as I tried to reach for it, but my leg was pulled and I was thrown to the other side of the lot. With a huff, I quickly made my way to my feet again, dodging a knife that was quickly moving towards my face. I grabbed a piece of board that was lying on the ground and dashed towards the bastard who threw me. I connected the edge of the board to the back of his head, causing him to tumble down with blood spurring from his mouth. I wasted no time in attacking my next victim just the same, and both of them laid still on the ground. Dead. Four down, three more to go. Another knife was flung at me and my eyes quickly searched for the source of my almost demise. I caught yet another knife that was thrown and swung it to my left where it sliced the throat of a stout man who was coming towards me. I threw my leg backwards in hopes to kick the man with the accent when he lunged for me again. He stumbled back a bit, but I knew he was tougher than he seemed. Wasting no more time, I hurled the knife back at the coward who was aiming another one at me, and it plunged deeply in his left eye. I almost gagged at the amount of blood that was around me. I hated to kill, and hated even more when it was bloody. I never wanted to be the people I despised, but desperate times call for desperate measures. "Aaahh!" I screamed in pain when a foot landed on my side, sending me flying to the base of the steps. I clenched it in pain as I glared at the man that I undoubtedly hated even more. He smirked at me, thinking he had won. "You're quite impressive" He growled in his low Irish accent. "But not strong enough" He ended, attacking me yet again as he circled his calloused hands around my neck. I struggled for air for a while before driving me knee in his crotch. Hard. It was a rookie move, but it was effective enough for me to get free. As soon as his grip loosened, I wasted no time in driving kick after kick to his stomach until he coughed up blood. I elbowed him in the side of his neck, causing him to plummet to the ground with a grunt. Swiftly, I grabbed onto a knife that was lying on the floor and held it directly to his throat. But before I could make a move, a loud exploding sound was heard, and I felt a piercing pain in my right shoulder. My body fell to the ground as I cried out in pain and whipped my head towards the direction the bullet came from. My blood boiled when I saw one of the men that I had hit with the board holding my gun and pointing it directly at me. He was on the ground and he didn't look strong, so I assumed he crawled his way over to it. "Son of a-" I was cut off when he fired another shot at me, but missed miserably. I dragged myself to my feet and purposely strolled slowly towards the bastard. "You shouldn't have done that" I whispered in his face as I took the weapon from his frail trembling hand. I didn't see the need to waste another bullet, so I simply hit him with the hard metal in his head. Slowly, I watched as his eyes drooped and his chest movements ceased, and that's when I made my move to leave him. I could've gone home right then, but leaving one alive would've been a big mistake on my part. Especially since he knew what my face looked like. I rejoined Mr Accent at the base of the steps where he was trying to get a hold of the knife, but I smoothly took it up with two fingers as I clicked my tongue at his attempts. "I don't think so buddy" I muttered as I took a seat on the lowest step and held his face in my hands. "Who do you work for?" I mimicked the question his friend had asked me oh so many times since he 'caught' me. "I-I'm not tel-telling you any-thing" He managed to say, receiving a scowl from me. "If you tell me who it is, I'll make you live" I offered, but he was smarter than I thought, since he just laughed like a maniac at my statement. "I know you're gonna kill me either w-way. So do it" He bit out, and I wasted no time in bringing the knife to his neck. "Suit yourself" "Wait!" He shouted, holding my hand put. "Wh-who are you?" He asked with genuine curiosity, and I flashed him my signature smirk. "I'm Aella," I answered with pure confidence dripping from my voice, before gliding the knife across his throat. "Aella Lightning."
