1. TRUE LOVE Serah sat with her legs crossed at the edge of her bed. She tried to focus on the white laptop in front of her but she just couldn't. Serah was distracted. Her thoughts were running all over her mind and this made her head feel hazy. She really needed to have a grip on her thoughts or else she would not get her assignment done in time. She tried to fill the spreadsheet entry which was part of her assignment but she couldn't feel the vibe. She was exhausted. A thought struck her mind and she decided to implement it before it disappears just like everything else. Stepping off the bed, she made her way to the full length dressing mirror standing at the far end of her room. The paint of her room was made of a perfect combination of baby pink and light grey. This was her taste and her parents honoured her wish by hiring the best interior architect to do the job. Her parents were filthy rich and that is why they went for the best. No lousy work was ever tolerated when you deal with the Sloans'. Her dark brown eyes looked tired but she forced a perfect smile as she looked at herself on the mirror. Her dark hair that was a tangled mess stared right back at her and she did not like how she looked at all. Taking a deep breath, she walked back to her bed, resuming her earlier position. “Ugh!” She sighed once again as she pulled her phone which was initially placed under her fluffy pillow. Coincidentally enough, the phone rung and Charlie’s name flushed on the screen. She allowed it to ring for she was afraid that if she heard his voce, she’d c***k. Her heart imminently grew heavy, making it race. She had to do something or else she was definitely going to lose him. Loosing him would be like the end of her world and there was no way she was going to let that happen, not while she was still breathing. She had to find a way out somehow. She knew that she needed to try and do something different, something to reassure him that the two of them will be together forever and that he didn’t have to be insecure about the two of them, ever. He needed to know that she was always going to be there for him no matter what. As though he was reading her mind, Charlie texted. I need a reassurance baby. I know you are doing enough with the staycations and everything but I need more. I need to know that you and I are always going to be together. I need to know that you will be mine till infinity. I deserve to know that Serah, I really do. She could almost hear his voice as she read the text. Her fingers hovered over her keyboard, typing on it quickly as the words flowed through her mind. You have every right to ask for assurance. Give me a few minutes and I’ll be there. Her brain cells began working quite furiously, all the tiredness leaving her body. She was going to give him the assurance he needed and she was going to give it him today. She loved him too much to just let him go. Charlie was the man she loved and will always love and for the first time, all she cared about was showing him just how he meant to her. Nothing could ever change the way she felt about hm. One could almost say, he was her life line. With that resolve in mind, she shut down her laptop as she stepped off the bed. Glancing down to her clothing, a grimace instantly popped on her face. There was no way she’d be stepping out in a tank top and sweatpants. After all, she was the daughter of Mary and Joseph Sloan, a very reputable family. Who would not know the Sloan family in Peaches town? Even the kids will tell you that the Sloan family took the crown of the wealthiest family in town and probably beyond. With the family owning a very fine winery, it was easy to understand why they would easily be floating on money. Most people, if not all, wished to trade their lives with Serah so that they could be like her, the daughter who got it all. Born on a silver platter, she was the-I-want-this-I-got-this kind of a girl. She had it all and no one certainly expected she would fall in love with a nobody. She was confident Charlie loved her too and that is why she would never doubt that about hm. Since that first time she had seen him, she had known he’d be more than just another guy in her life and she’d had been very right about that. Making her way to the walk-in closet, she ran her French manicured fingers along the dress before she finally settled on a sexy, white dress with a plunging neckline. Snapping a picture of it, she sent it to her stylist who was quick enough to tell her what heels she’d wear to go with the dress. “Nude heels it is,” she whispered under her breath, a smile touching her face. If there was one thing Serah loved, it was heels. They always made her feel classy like she was on the top of the world. After taking a quick bath, she slid into the dress, taking a moment to appreciate how it sleeked over her curves so perfectly, accentuating them and marrying into the expansive layers of her creamy skin. She sat on her dressing mirror and after a careful consideration, she choose the red lipstick. It was her favorite and she loved how it blended so well with her skin, making her look even creamier. A smile lit up her face as she stared at her image. Yeah, now that smile looked better. She glanced at her Rolex wrist watch that her dad got her for last week just to make sure that she still had time to get to Charlie’s place. The last thing she’d want, was to piss him off by being late. As soon as she walked out of her room, she scanned the entire place to ensure that no one was watching. Dating Charlie was a secret and the last thing that she wanted, was someone finding out now. That could rain a whole hoard of problems on her. However, Polly, her elder sister, was not different from her. With the guy that she liked ignoring her, she was pretty stressed and spent her days sulking and constantly checking her phone. It was pretty pathetic watching Polly being ignored like that and still hope that things would turn around, but who was Serah to judge when she could barely make it known about the guy she was dating? Polly loved Logan. Heck, one could even say, she lived and breathed Logan. They had been friends ever since they were young and she wanted him. She fell in love with him so hard. Logan was from the Diaz family which was a prominent family but not as prominent as the Sloans. They also owned a winery and don’t get me wrong. Despite having the same business, they had no bad blood between them. As a matter of fact, they were friends and very good friends at that. The two families were exceptional and never for once competed with each other. Instead, they worked together to make their wine better and they had really succeeded in that. The wines they produced together had a unique sweet taste that the entire world was constantly craving for. They have been good family friends over the years and they intended to continue on being like that till eternity. Well, that was if eternity was a possibility. Polly was the girl who secretly wished that Logan would one day notice her for more than just his friend and they would be together forever. You know, the typical fairy tale with a happily ever after. Serah tip toed down the stairs, her eyes constantly checking out for anyone appearing in the vicinity and so far she had successfully made it to the bottom of the stairs. She picked the car keys of her Merc from the top of the glass table and before she could step out, her sister was right in front of her, arms crossed with an eyebrow raised. “Polly, you scared me. I thought it was mum,” Serah gasped lightly when her sister showed up, her hand resting on her heart which was beating a little too fast. “You should be more careful. Who knows? Maybe next time, mum will be the one who will find you sneaking out and you know she won’t like that at all,” Polly said with her sweet deep voice that made her stand out. “She won’t find out,” Serah was quite confident. “She’s mum. She will find out soon enough. Besides, I don’t think it is worth it,” Polly said as she crossed her hands in front of her. “What is worth it?” Serah asked with her eyebrows arched up in surprise. “That boy you have been seeing. He is just using you because he knows you are wealthy and pretty. He doesn’t really love you for you. We both know that,” Polly said as a smirk played on her lips but that was cut short by Serah slapping her so hard on her cheeks that turned red in an instant.
