There was chaos, utter and complete chaos, blurs of whites and greens filled my vision and people panicking around me, their screams of panic sending a deep chill down my spine. No, not on this day. Of all the days, please let it not be today. Please tell me that I was dreaming, I had to be dreaming. I whip my head around, trying to find my family in all of this chaos, my pulse in my throat, nearly causing me to gag. I heard my name being yelled in pure terror, but I couldn't find out who was yelling it. That's when I felt it, complete and utter fear. The pounding in my head mimicked my heartbeat pounding in my chest. The rush of adrenaline caused my limbs to go weak and I fell to the ground. When I fell to the ground my hands fell into a sticky substance that smelled terribly of iron. My stomach churned as I looked down at it, red blood stained my arms and my ivory dress. Without being able to control it I let out a shrill scream that could make a plane fall. Three Months Earlier I was sitting across from my mother who was sipping on her cup of coffee that she had been sipping on since I had arrived at the coffee shop. It was the same shop I had met Logan at when I had first moved here, I chose this place on purpose. This place made me feel happy and I just knew that sitting across from my mother I would have to deal with her, which also meant that my patience would be tested to the fullest. "Sorry I was late; I was meeting with a client who insists that her house be painted lime green. That's nearly an impossible color to decorate an entire house with. Kitchen included." I explain to her as I sit my purse down in the seat beside me and the coffee and brownie I had ordered. She smiles and raises an eyebrow, "You can't change tacky, you can only manipulate it." I smile, she was eerily calm right now, probably wondering why I didn't ask her to meet her at my house... Logan's house... In the past two months I had basically moved into his apartment and neither of us were complaining. We were having s*x like rabbits which helped us because we both went into our work day incredibly more relaxed. "Which is what I will spend all night attempting to do. She wants it all done in two months." I say with a fake smile. Mom smiles and looks around at the room. Her make-up was perfect, and she was dressed in a clean (expensive) business suit and high class flared denim jeans with heels. She never had a bad day, she was perfect. "So, we are meeting... here." She waves a manicured hand in the air and smiled. "It's my favorite coffee spot, I love it here." I said, hoping she wouldn't start her questioning so soon. "I got your wedding invitation. I wasn't expecting you to get married so soon after moving away." And there she goes... "Yeah, well, I fell in love and I am sure this is the man for me." I assure my mom. I wasn't lying, I could spend the rest of my twenties looking for other opportunities but where I was right now being where I wanted to be forever and that's with Logan. "I will not be denying your love. You know I believe that if you are in love you shouldn't wait for things. But I also believe that you should get to know this man. It would be different if you'd known him longer." Mom said. "You married Bryant after knowing him for two weeks." I deadpan. "Our case was a rarity." She defends, "But that is not the point. I would at least like to meet this man and help you plan your wedding." I sigh and roll my eyes, "Mom, of course I would let you help and meet him." I didn't want to poke at her protective side where she would raise hell every day of my life until she got what she wanted. Don't get me wrong, I loved my mom, but she often made me want to pull my hair out sometimes with her micromanaging me. Ever since what happened with James happened, my mom has tried to keep me close, nearly to the point of suffocation. I didn't blame her though, at some points in my life I needed that. "Well what do you have planned? If I know you any better, you wouldn't have anything planned." She says knowingly with a smile in her eyes. I face-palm, she was right. The wedding was in three months and I had yet to plan a damned thing excepting picking out the groom. Logan hadn't been pushing me and I didn't really have to correct sources of female friends to plan my wedding. I hadn't even chosen a dress or a location. "I am here for two weeks; I will help you plan the ugly parts. Should I fly Pascha out to help you out with the more fun parts?" mom asked. Pascha was my cousin back from home, we got into a lot of trouble together with our friend Kimberly. "Kim too, I need a lot of help with this one mom." I said with a smile, "Logan is being the man so he hasn't even mention the wedding. He just knows he wants to get married." Mom pulls out a notepad from her D&B purse and a pen and fires off with her questions just like the business woman she is. "Do you want it in a church or outdoors?" Mom asked. "A church, Logan is Catholic." I answer. "How many bridesmaids?" I ponder that question for a moment and I count my female co-workers and my only female friends. "Five." "Tell your fiancé he needs to find five groomsmen, I crave symmetry." "Yes ma'am." I nod, thankful for her expertise. "What type of flower?" she asked. "White roses." I answered without thought, it was our flower. "Do you have a color yet?" Mom asked. "I am not sure yet, I was thinking rose-gold." I answered. "I love that color." Mom exclaims, "Figure out with Logan what you want to eat at the reception, how many guests, groomsmen's numbers, bridesmaid's numbers, your song, and cake." That was a long list of things I would have to keep up, but I knew that my mom would most likely get this entire thing planned in two weeks with how insistent she is. I trusted this in her hands. "I will be paying for Kim and Pascha's hotel. We both know they would have zero issue with staying here." Mom rolled her eyes. Kim was taking a year off of Law school due to the fact that she was pregnant and a soon to be single mom, and Pascha freelanced on doing hair and stealing people's boyfriend. They could use a vacationing. I nod and check the time on my phone, it was nearly one and I had to be back at Logan's building to check on the installation of all of the fabrics and decorum. Logan's building was set to open up soon and my company had a design contract with the entire thing worth millions. To say were thrilled and stressed was an underestimate. I spent my days crisscrossing the city looking at houses and meeting with people to get people's vision finished and then running back to the Tower to check on all of that. I was stressed but going home to seeing Logan was worth it all, he made my day and my life worth it. It was paradise with him for the moment. We were three weeks off for the grand opening of the building and I was nearly pulled thin. Once I finished with this project with Logan, I was sure that I would be able to take a break for a moment to breathe. Especially with our two-week honeymoon coming right after that. "I have to go back to work, I will call you tomorrow morning with all of that information mom." I kiss her cheek, "I love you." "Love you too, Beth." I go to pick up my brownie and my mom takes it out of my hand, "You don't need that. Go now." Then she takes a bite out of it herself. Of course. I leave the shop and climb into my car and check my make-up. I check and making sure that everything was still in place and then I pulled out and make my way to the Tower. I had taken to calling it that since I started working on it and I was infatuated with its progress. There wasn't a thing out of place besides the lack of furniture. It was coming together thought. The part I was the most excited about was Logan's office. I was trying to make it perfect for him. At the moment he was working from home and only coming into the office when he absolutely had to. I refused to let him into his office until it was completed. My goal was to present it to him as a wedding gift. I had put my heart into it to make it perfect for him and I couldn't wait for him to see it next week. When I got to the building my car was parked for me and I walked in admiring my offices work, we had pulled a serious number on this building. It had still smelt new and people who had offices not decorated by us were moving their furniture in and talking to their people in the lobby. Even though the building wasn't open to the public, in some places they were up and running. Logan was already deeply successful financially, he was getting investors left and right and he hadn't even started up yet. It was his reputation we were working on right now, he was a millionaire hottie getting married soon and starting his own business, the media loved him and me apparently. I tried to forget that the media even existed even though I frequently found myself looking at the magazines to see what they were saying about Logan and me. In fact, I looked it a lot. It was sort of a bad habit with me. When I walked in I saw Ryan, one of my co-workers standing in the center typing on his phone. I walk up to him, "Hey, what's up?" Ryan, a tall rustic looking man in a purple suit looks up at me and smiles, "I just finished all of my projects and with this fat bonus we got I am planning to take my new beau out with on a mini-vacay." "Where?" I asked. "I was thinking of California, it's so rainy here and I haven't seen him in so long it feels like that I want to take him to a little paradise," Ryan says. "Aren't you dating Marcus?" I question. "Yes." Ryan says rolling his eyes. "You work with him; what do you mean you aren't seeing him?" I asked. "We don't have s*x anymore. I am dying. I walked in on him jerking off yesterday and I felt so bad. He has way more energy than me and I feel like I am letting him down. We haven't been together that long, I don't want to scare him away." "You won't. Just go on your vacation and me and the girls will cover anything you need to get done." I promise with a smile. "Oh, thank you, I didn't know how I much I needed you until I had you." Ryan says with a smile, "But what I am really focusing on is the fact that your beau is with a Caucasian boo." I raise an eyebrow, "What are you talking about?" Ryan hands me his phone and theres a photo of Logan walking out of a restaurant in daylight with a curvy blonde woman with a large smile. He was looking at her very intensely and the head line read: Logan Chase Steps Out with Logan Reed on A Mid-Afternoon Romantic Date! Is the Wedding Off?! My heart fell to my toes and a new emotion bubbled into my stomach. Rage.
