1. Mr. Boss

719 Words
I blew a deep breath, shifting nervously on my feet. This mansion was too damn huge. How was I supposed to get my way around without getting lost? An arm touched mine and on impulse, I raised my eyes to meet kind greenish-blue ones. Even still I pulled my hand away quickly, struggling to fill my lungs with air. "Don't worry, my brother doesn't bite though he is a little too serious with life. His wife Jenna on the other hand is really nice," Hunter smiled encouragingly ignoring the fact that I just blew him off less than a second ago. I nodded timidly, my gaze now assessing the million-dollar glass table with several fashion magazines arranged neatly on top. Hunter had warned me his brother was rich but I had not imagined it would be to this extent. He would probably buy the whole world with the stroke of a pen on his checkbook. "I can't thank you enough Mr. Callaghan, "I said, breaking the pin-drop silence in the room. "It's my pleasure and please just call me Hunter," his smile was warm and the first genuine one I had seen in years. I smiled in response, tagging back a strand of black hair on the back of my ear. My slender fingers clung on the straps of my rather old backpack. It had all my belongings, or at least what I had managed to salvage before fleeing. "There they are, finally. I was beginning to wonder whether they were counting how much money they have in the bank," Hunter joked and I had to smile at that. Sure enough, there was a young woman, probably in her mid-twenties, making her way down the stairs. Her figure was accentuated by a grey skirt pencil dress and black stilettos. Judging from the broad smile on her face, she could be as nice as Hunter claimed. We both stood up, her persona somehow intimidating me. "Jenna," Hunter smiled yet again, "I was actually starting to think you'd never show up," "Well, it's my house Hunter. Is she the one?" She asked referring to me. "Yeah. Bloom Sullivan this is Jenna Callaghan, your new boss, Jenna this is Bloom, " I internally winced at the use of my full name but quickly covered it up with a small smile. "Call me Jenna please," she shook my hand. "Thank you Ma'am," I replied in a quiet tone. "It's just Jenna but you can work on that later. My husband should be here in a minute," As she finished her sentence, a man just a bit older than her, rushed down the stairs, a red striped tie with a black leather suitcase in one hand while the other tried to work furiously on the three top buttons of his shirt. He placed a quick peck on his wife's lips. By the time his wife helped him up with the remaining two buttons, I had already caught sight of the hard outline of his chest. My eyes unknowingly traveled upwards, dishing on his perfect square jaw, to his pink lips and to the bluest eyes I had ever seen. My lips parted slightly in wonder as his rugged wet hair made him look like he was straight out of the front page of the Vogue Magazine. "I thought your work does not start until Eight?" Hunter questioned. "That is usually the case but a potential client called for a seven-fifteen meeting," His British accent was thicker than Hunter's. "Done," Jenna announced patting her husband's shoulders lightly. "Thanks, sweetie," he then turned around, his lean but fit body now on my full view. His eyes briefly scanned his dressing and then he raised them, meeting mine. His gaze was arresting and even though it was wrong, I let myself sink into its power. Heat seeped through my skin, flaming up my entire body as if I was just made of paper. "She is the new maid I told you about last week, remember?"He nodded, almost as though he was half in a daze. "Babe this is Bloom, Bloom this is my husband Vincent. Now we must go to work but Hunter you could stay with her until Rose arrives," This time Vincent broke her gaze on me and headed for the door. "Sure," Hunter replied.
