Prologue

I don’t believe in fate. Or karma. Or any of that rubbish. How could I after everything that had happened? Was still happening. This couldn’t be my fate. I wouldn’t let it. I had to be strong. Stronger than I had ever been before because I do believe in a debt owed and the man lounging in the door frame, watching me with hooded chocolate brown eyes owed me. He owed me tears and misery and more heartbreak then any person, human or otherwise could handle. So, I had to be strong. I couldn’t let him see the tears that threatened to spill out of my eyes. He had had all the tears he was going to get from me. “You look beautiful Ami” Taking a deep breath, my finger idling pulling on an iridescent pearl at my waist, I didn’t raise my face to him. He could say whatever he wanted to; it made no difference to me at all. I would do what I needed to, to stay alive and then I would make him pay the debt he owed me. I just had to get through this day first. My wedding day.
