Chapter One - New Home

Emily Lavoie was crying, again. Her father, George had married her off to a neighboring pack called Blue Moon and she was scared. She didn't want to leave but clearly, she had no choice. Her mother told her it was to benefit the pack and who was she to object? She had seen the sadness in her sisters’ eyes as their father had announced it. She didn't want anyone to think her weak, but she was so torn up by the events. She looked at herself in the floor-length mirror and shook her head. She wasn’t exactly the prettiest wolf. She was ever so slightly overweight, although her mother referred to her as curvaceous. Emily knew she wasn’t fat, but she defiantly wasn’t skinny like her sisters or even her mother. Her long dark reddish hair and light grey eyes with her heart-shaped lips were what she considered her best features. Her breasts were medium, and she guessed the term ‘full’ was appropriate. She turned slightly and gave her ass a look. It was round and firm. She was average height and she had no idea what males liked. She had never had any wolf pay attention to her and she wondered what her mate would think of her. “No, he isn’t my mate,” she said aloud. She frowned at her reflection and turned away. She sat down in front of her dressing table and blow-dried her hair. She didn’t bother to apply any makeup and got dressed. She had carefully planned her outfit as George had told her that the pack's colors were gold and blue. She pulled on the dark blue denim and slipped on a pair of wedged black boots. The only top she had with gold in it was a ruffled cross over which was black with spots of gold. It wasn’t the most flattering top she owned but she did want to make an impression when she met him. All she knew about him was that he was the beta of the pack and his name was Carl. “Emily Lavoie! How much longer are you going to be?” Her mother, Andrea, stood in the doorway of her bedroom. She turned to her and made a pathetic excuse of a pose. Her mother looked her up and down. “No, that top is disgusting and it’s a good thing I got you this,” she held out a flat box and Emily took it, lifting the lid. She pulled out a tunic style top in dark blue with gold trimming. It was beautiful. Andrea closed the door and watched as Emily quickly changed tops. It looked good on her as she eyed herself in the mirror. “Now that looks way better, in fact,” her mother grabbed the ruffled top. “This belongs in the rubbish,” she smiled before leaving her alone. “Well, this is as good as its gonna get,” she muttered. She decided to put on some soft pink lipstick and blush. Giving herself one more look over she grabbed her bag and left her room. Making her way downstairs and outside where her family and pack were waiting to see her off. “I am going to miss you!” Felicity exclaimed as she grabbed Emily in a tight hug. Sasha smiled at her but stood back shyly. Emily went to her and hugged her. “Be strong little one,” she whispered into her ear. She turned to her parents, who quickly hugged her. She waved at the pack members and smiled at the big guy standing in front of a blue SUV. When her father gestured for him to come closer to collect her bag, the reality of the situation became all too real. She looked nervously at her mother who just smiled at her. “I am Peter, the Blue Moon’s third,” he introduced himself and grabbed her bag. She followed him and he put her bag in the back before opening the passenger door. She got in and looked down at her hands. This was it; she was leaving, and she wasn’t going to look back. When Peter got in the car, he grinned at her. “And off we go,” she tried to smile back but was afraid she would cry so instead she just gave him a small nod. As he started the car and backed out of the driveway, she could hear the pack cheering and she refused to look up as her journey started. “Are you alright Emily?” Peter asked her. She still didn’t trust herself to speak so again she just gave him a small nod. He didn’t say anything more as they drove on. She knew that it would take them about an hour to get there and she was mentally preparing herself for whatever was about to happen. “Mind if I put on some music?” “Sure,” she whispered. He pushed the button and a random love song filled the car. Emily listened to the words and hope-filled her. She wanted this to be her time to find love. She had no idea what Carl was like and she peeked at Peter. He had a shaggy look to him with shoulder-length brown hair and – “You are staring,” he interrupted her evaluation of him. She turned a bright shade of pink and quickly looked away. “Ss-sorry,” she stuttered, and he giggled softly. “No worries, you sure are beautiful but I don’t think Carl would appreciate me eyeing his fiancé” She felt embarrassed and his term of ‘fiancé’ was enough to keep her quiet throughout the rest of the trip.   When Peter turned the vehicle right and they started going up a narrow road surrounded by a beautiful green forest, Emily gasped. Up ahead she could make out the Blue Moon village. He glanced over at her and smiled as she eagerly sat forward. The closer they got the more excited she became. When he entered the village, she was struck by the historic beauty that lay before her. The homes were built with what looked like large stones with gold and blue windows. Wolves were everywhere, females, males, and plenty of children. She smiled widely as she spotted three girls playing hopscotch. It reminded her of her sisters and she quickly sat back as the wolves were trying to peer into the passing SUV. “They are just curious,” Peter voiced. She nodded as she continued to take in her surroundings. The showy orchis seemed to be everywhere, which created such a magical setting that when she saw the massive castle ahead, she was taken aback. She had not been expecting it, as she could only ever dream of such an exquisite place like this. Peter pulled up alongside the castle steps and Emily waited for him to open her door. Helping her out, he smiled at her. “Welcome home Emily,” “Really?” “Yes, really,” he laughed as he left her side to go and grab her bag. Emily wasn’t paying much attention to him as she took it all in. She glanced up and she let out a delightful squeal. “I’m going to take that as a good sign,” Emily spun around and came face to face with one of the largest male wolves she had ever seen. He was smiling gently at her and she blushed. “It is beautiful,” she whispered shyly. “I agree, it was built in the 1980s,” he too looked up at the castle and Emily knew he was the Alpha. “I am Jeffery, Alpha of Blue Moon pack, and I welcome you to your new home,” she smiled at him and she felt a touch on her arm, she looked down and found a little girl holding up a single white orchid. Emily hunched down and accepted the pretty gift. “Hello,” said the little girl. “Hello,” Emily said back. Jeffery came around and picked up the girl. “This here is my youngest daughter, Jane,” he turned to Peter. “Take her bag to Carl’s quarters,” Emily blushed yet again and was embarrassed by her silly attitude. She wasn’t always this shy or nervous. “Emily, let me introduce you to my mate and Luna, Victoria,” she followed his eyes and saw her approaching. She was stunning, she had short black hair and she was heavily pregnant. “Finally, you’ve arrived,” Victoria said as she leaned in and kissed Emily’s cheek. “Congrats,” Emily burst out. They laughed joyfully and it made her feel less awkward. “I apologize that Carl isn’t here to greet you, he had to go see his sick mother,” Jeffery explained as they made their way inside. Emily didn’t even mind that he wasn’t here. It probably would have made her feel worse. She took in the interior design and was surprised to see that it had been modernized, despite the exterior. It was still amazing, and the art took her breath away. Jeffery had left the two she-wolves alone and Victoria had taken Emily’s arm for support. Emily hoped that they would become friends. Victoria gave her a short tour of downstairs and she smiled apologetically when she explained that since she was in her last trimester she didn’t dare try going up and down the staircase. Victoria then led her to the dining hall as lunch was being served. Emily stood in the entrance, looking around her. There were wolves everywhere and although she felt slightly intimidated, she smiled happily and took a seat next to Jane. “Hello again,” Jane said as she stuffed a carrot into her mouth. “Hello Jane,” Emily smiled warmly. She was surprised to find that she was enjoying the environment she had been thrown into. The time would come when she would be face to face with Carl but until then she wasn’t going to allow her nerves to have any control. She dished up some carrots and potatoes and looked around for the meat. She saw further down was a serving tray full of sliced ham and it was just out of her reach and everyone was talking and laughing so loudly, she wasn’t sure if they would hear her. As if on cue, a she-wolf spotted Emily eyeing the ham and quickly picked up the tray and handed it to her. “Thank you,” Emily whispered, and the she-wolf grinned and continued eating. After placing a few pieces of the delicious looking ham onto her plate, she began to eat. Back home, wolves only gathered like this during a full moon. Right now, it looked as though the whole village was here stuffing food into their mouths. Jane looked up at her and offered her a piece of what looked like something the cat dragged in. Emily wasn’t sure what it was, and she didn’t want to touch it, but then again, she didn’t want to seem rude on her first day. She allowed Jane to drop the stuff into her hand. “Jane!” Jeffery scolded. Jane laughed and continued eating her food. “I am sorry Emily, she likes to give gifts, what did she give to you?” he must’ve seen the disgusted look on her face as she opened her hand to reveal the stuff. Jeffery howled with laughter and Emily blushed as everyone looked their way to see what was so funny. “What is it?” Victoria demanded and Jeffery managed to control himself, breathing in deeply he answered. “Emily, I know it looks bad but its just play dough,” everyone burst out laughing and Emily joined in handing the dirty play dough back to Jane. She relaxed as she finished eating her meal. She knew she was going to love it here. Watching the wolves interact was so new to her that she was caught staring on more than one occasion. Victoria had taken Jane after they had finished eating and as time went on wolves started leaving. Emily was unsure of what she should do, and she glanced over at Jeffery who was having what looked like an important conversation with Peter. “Would you mind helping me?” Emily looked up as someone spoke to her. A tall she-wolf was smiling at her and she recognized her as the wolf who had passed her the ham. “Of course,” she replied. She helped them clear the table and was happy to be doing something other than just sitting around. She wanted to offer in helping with the washing of the dishes but as she looked around the kitchen, she saw them packing them into the dishwashers. There were ten in total. “Amazing,” she muttered to herself. “Emily?” Emily turned and seeing Peter, she went over to him. “Jeffery wants to see you in his office, follow me,” he turned, and she followed him quietly. As they neared the office, Emily picked up a sweet smell. She moaned softly as the scent attacked her senses. Peter looked back briefly and then stopped at the office door, he pushed it open and gestured for her to enter. The sweet smell was stronger now and to her, it smelt like cherries. As she entered the room, she spotted Jeffery sitting behind his desk. Peter closed the door behind her, and Jeffery looked up, smiling tenderly at her. “Emily, welcome,” he got up and she looked at him, confused as the scent was so strong and her whole body was tingling. Her stomach was doing summersaults and her breathing was heavy. Mate! Mate! Mate! Her wolf was going crazy and she tried to shut her up. Jeffery was looking to her left and she turned to see what it was that he was looking at and she froze. “Emily, I’m pleased to introduce to you, my beta, Carl,” She heard him talking but she only had eyes for the hot, sexy, wolf sitting lazily on the couch. His eyes were dark, and he was looking at her intensely. “H-halloo,” she squeaked out. Carl raised an eyebrow and sat forward-looking her up and down. As he was scrutinizing her, she too took this moment to check him out. She could tell he was tall as his legs were long and the denim he was wearing looked tight. He had on a pale blue no sleeve top which didn’t do much to hide his muscular chest and arms. His hair was pitch black and cut short and his facial features were strong and sharp. Their eyes met and she quickly looked away. Jeffery seemed amused at the two of them eyeing each other out. “I’ll leave the two of you alone,” he commented as he left. Emily shifted as she glanced around the office, trying to look everywhere else and not at him. “So, Emily, do you like what you see?” he asked her. She blushed so hard as his voice caught her off guard. “Um…um…” she was at a loss for words. Was he asking her if she liked the looks of him or the office? When he suddenly laughed, she involuntary moaned in pleasure. He stopped and shot her a quick look of surprise. This couldn’t be happening, she thought to herself as he got up and came towards her. “You,” he paused as he stopped inches from her. “Look,” he leaned in and she held her breath. “Delicious,” he finished off as he breathed in her scent. Emily felt faint. “I’m gonna faint,” she heard herself whisper and he chuckled and stepped back. “Now that would be boring,” Carl left the room and when she was sure she was alone, she let out a very loud sigh. Her mate was totally yummy, and she wasn’t the only one to think so. Her wolf was making a sound very close to purring.
