Prologue

I opened my eyes and was confused when I realized that I was in an unfamiliar place. I'm lying on a luxurious king-size bed. My vision was still blurry, so I couldn't properly identify if the ceiling was colored with brown or maroon paint. I tried to lift myself, and that's when a searing pain hit my head. I almost cursed when my visions made everything in the room move on its own. I am dizzy, and I felt like throwing up. What happened last night? I can't seem to recall what had happened, which confused me even more. All I could remember was going home after hearing the CEO's conversation with a woman I didn't know. I remembered having a drink. Then I didn't know what happened after that. When my visions were back to normal, I roamed my eyes around. It's a gigantic room. It was even way bigger than the unit that I am currently at. It has an exquisite and luxurious interior, which shouts of royalty. It's like a king owns it. I lifted the blanket covering me and tried to make my way out of the room, though I was almost on the verge of stumbling down and hurting myself. I followed the long corridor, which led me to an elevator. I know my body's still weak, but I wanted to leave this place. Since there are people after me, I might be in great danger, knowing that this was not my apartment when I was supposed to wake up in my living room. When I reached the first floor, I immediately heard voices. Since the house was huge and covered with thick walls, so their conversation resonated throughout the floor. I almost flinched when I heard a frustrated voice, a voice that was very familiar to me. "I thought you wanted to reject him?" a man's voice said. "Shut up, Atticus! I'm as mad as it is" I heard his voice, the CEO's voice. Atticus? The CEO? They're here. "So what do you want to do now? It's already obvious that you can't ignore the bond," a woman said. I heard the same voice at the CEO's office yesterday. "f**k it, Laura! I said it's not about the bond. I'm just…" he replied but couldn't finish what he was about to say. 'What bond are they talking about? And why am I even here?' I asked myself. "Just what, Zach?" the woman asked again. My heart skipped a beat upon hearing his name. I hate it! I hate the fact that he has this great effect on me, but I don't on him. I almost jumped when I heard a monstrous growl. ' Just what the f**k was that?!' I asked myself. I'm too terrified even to sneak a peek at them. I don't want to see him. "f**k! You know it's very rude to listen to other people's conversation, right, Mr. Larsson?" My heart almost dropped when I heard him call my name. I have no other choice but to show myself to them. When our eyes met, I thought the CEO's expression went soft for a second. Everyone was here, also the woman that hired me that day. "W-Why am I here?" I said, trying so hard not to tremble. "You should stay in bed. I know you're weak because a stupid jerk refuses to heal his Luna." I looked at the owner of the voice and immediately saw a worried look from Atticus, the CEO's lawyer. I was not really sure what he meant by that, but the CEO shot him a deathly glare. I looked down and could feel the CEO's eyes on me, intimidating me. "W-What happened to me? Whose place is this? And why am I here?" I asked simultaneously. "You don't remember?" the woman asked. I assumed she was Laura. I just shook my head while I was still looking down. I was scared. I was scared of him. He said he didn't want me to be near him, and now I was standing in the same room with him. Why do I have to act like this when his around? "You were at…" Before Laura could even finish her sentence, the CEO grabbed me by my wrist and dragged me back to the elevator. It's even more suffocating now that we're in a small space together. We were quiet, and the moment the elevator door opened, the CEO dragged me back to the room I came from. "U-Uhm… S-Sir, I just want to go home," I said, almost choking on my words, while he was just looking at me. "Stay here," he said "W-What?" that's when I looked back at him. I immediately noticed a wound on his neck. It looked like a scratch from a very sharp nail. It seemed pretty deep. Before I spoke, I tried my best not to reach it and do something about it. "Are you deaf or what? I said stay here," the CEO said as he looked at me firmly "I-I can't, sir. I have to go home. I-I have…" before I could even finish, I was shoved to the wall. I flinched at the impact. 's**t! It hurts like hell,' I cursed inside my head. "Stop testing my patience, Mr. Larsson." That's all I heard before everything went black.
