Prologue

ELLA’S POV             “Why are you still here?” I hear my mother screech at me from the other room.  “Didn’t I ask you to go out to the forest to pick some blackberries so you can make us some blackberry pie tonight for dessert?”             I want to speak back and tell her to do it herself, but I know if I do so that it will make her angry even more which will result in punishment on me.             “What are you waiting for you little brat?!”             “Sorry mom.  I’m heading out now.”             You would have thought she had told me a hour ago and I was just rebelling like a teenager and not listening, but no, she literally asked me five minutes ago to go.             It is not fair that I am treated the way that I am.  My sisters are treated like little princesses because they are just like my mom…. narcistic and way too proud of their behavior.  But since I have always been the quiet, bookworm, my parents and family have never shown me any kind of respect or kindness.  Well, except for my grandmother who passed away last year.  She always helped save me from the cruelty towards me from my family.  It has been hard on me since she has been gone.             I look forward to the day in which I can finally leave this house.  They have refused to save any money for me to attend college and they spent all of the money in which my grandmother had left for me.  Unfortunately, I did not find out about this till I was registering for college just to discover that I had no money to do so.             You would think, why would she stay living there in these conditions, but I have no where to go and no money saved to start a new life.  But as soon as I can, I will be moving out and never turning back.             “I’m leaving now,” I shout back from the backdoor.  Although, I don’t know why she couldn’t do it herself.  They are so lazy.  It’s not like she does anything else all day but tend to her looks and go shopping. Ugh, I am so sick of this.             As I make my way into the depths of the forest, I notice a pink, sparkly flower a little bit away.  It almost appears translucent.  I make my way slowly through the forest to look at this.  I have never seen anything like it before.  As I get closer, I notice a strange cave which a whole array of the flowers was covering.             How strange, I’ve never noticed this here before I think to myself.  At this point, I have completely forgotten about my task at hand and find myself being pulled by an unknown force into this strange cavern.
