✰ Chapter 1 ✰

“Come on Carmichael! Toe touch now!!” My head coach yells at me. I mentally groan then do as I am told, which makes my coach look at me with a smirk, and then a nod of approval. This is the last day of cheer camp for our school, and I am so pumped and ready to get out of this place. Plus, school starts next week on Wednesday, so I am a little excited because it is senior year. And I just applied to a couple of colleges where my boyfriend will play football at, he just doesn’t know which one yet. I know I shouldn’t rush him, and also with the fact that he told me before cheer camp that he does not want to be rushed. But his daddy has been on his ass about it for two weeks now, I know this because of him and his mama telling me so. “Okay, that’s good ladies.” I tell them. We then all gather around our coach. “Alright, first pep rally is on Friday during the first week of school, remember to arrive at school wearing your cheerleading uniforms.” Coach says. “If you guys didn’t get a uniform, for whatever reason, talk to me in my office, which I will be in for the next hour or two.” She adds.  “Yes coach.” We all yell in unison. “Now get on home ladies, and I’ll see your asses after school on Wednesday at 3 pm sharp.” Our head coach says. We then grabbed our stuff and before I was leaving the football field, I felt my elbow get tugged on. I turn around to see it’s my head coach. “Hey, so I have some news on our assistant coach, Rose.” She tells me. “Really? How is she doing?”  I asked her. My coach just shakes her head. “To be honest here, she isn’t looking so good. I’m not sure that she will be returning until maybe next semester.” She says with a sigh. This makes me frown. “Well, she was good part of the team.” I explained. “I know, but that means you need to help me out while she’s recovering, Carmichael.” My coach orders. “Yeah I will.” I tell her.  Honestly f**k Leukemia. I then walked up to my four door 2014 black Honda civic, and unlocked it, then threw my cheer bag in my backseat.   ------------------------- “I’m home mama, and daddy.” I shout once I make my way inside the house whilst carrying my cheer bag over my shoulder. “Oh, hey Macie, when you put your things away, I want you to tidy up Marissa’s bedroom. A famous magazine wants to come and look at her dance and pageant trophies.” My mom explains walking out of the kitchen with her apron on. “But Marissa hasn’t been here since June, so her room is obviously going to be super cleaned.” I sighed dramatically.  “Still, her trophies are probably dusty.” My mama said. Making me roll my eyes. “Alright mama.” I say whilst walking away from her and up the stairs.  I went into my bedroom, and threw my cheer bag onto the floor, and then decided to go take a much-needed shower. I then grabbed my brown cotton cheetah print pajama shorts, with a light pink tank top. It gets freaking hot at night, so I try to wear something warm when I go to bed, and I also I am a freak for comfy shorts.  Once I get in my bathroom, I plug my Bluetooth speaker next to my sink, and then play a song off my XS max, called All-American Girl by Carrie Underwood, and to be honest, I feel like I relate to this song in a way just can't put my finger on it.         ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ As I was lying on my bed watching Netflix, I hear a knock on my door, Making me look up to face my intruder, only to see my daddy. “Hey sweetie, for dinner we are having ratatouille, with some side salad, your mama really wants you to keep your image.” My daddy chuckles. Then leaves me alone. I like my daddy, because he doesn’t hover, he still acknowledges my existence here and there, but he isn’t too obsessed with my life, all except with my boyfriend Charles.  Good gosh, I feel like he’s more interested in Charles than he is with me. I’m actually shocked that he didn’t ask me about Charles today, like if he’s coming to dinner, s**t, he even lets Charles sleepover even though we both are seventeen years old. “Macie! Come on and eat!” I hear my mama shout. Making me pause my show and grab my phone and get out of bed and then go down my stairs. Once I make it to my dining room, I see my dad sitting at the head of the table, and my mom on the left of him, where her back is to the window, which means I’m on the right of him where my back is turned to the kitchen. “So was cheer camp good?” My mama asks me whilst pouring some Caesar dressing on her salad. “Um yeah it was good.” I say whilst grabbing two dinner rolls. This caught my mama’s attention since she is sitting across from me. “Are you sure you need two? Be thankful I’m letting you even have one of those things, image is everything Macie, I mean, Marissa would never.” She tells me whilst raising an eyebrow at me. Of course, she would bring up Marissa.  “Come on Penelope, let the girl have two rolls. I mean, it’s only two damn rolls, there are a lot of them in that basket.” My daddy says whilst eating some of his ratatouille. “It’s about looks Trevor; you wouldn’t want a chubby girl as captain of the cheer team, now would you?” She asks him.  I sighed then put the basket down, and then stood up. “I’m going to eat in my room.” I say agitated. I grab my salad bowl, and plate of ratatouille, also to piss my mama off, I grabbed TWO dinner rolls. Making her roll her eyes but start to eat her salad. “Baby eat some ratatouille; it’s going to get cold.” I hear my daddy say. “Well, I want to eat my salad first.” I hear my mama say back.  My f*****g family ladies and gentlemen.
