Romance Freak

582 Words
My name is Andrea Sanders. I am what you would call a romance freak! Yep a totally helpless romantic! Over the years I’ve lost count of the number of romance novels I had completed; don’t even get me started on romance movies! You name it, I’ve watched it! I am a sucker for romance. You see I am this way due to my upbringing.   My parents are what most would call a perfect couple. They love each other unconditionally and have been together since they were 17. Despite being together for all these years they still manage to do romantic things for each other. I think the cutest thing about them is the way their faces light up when the other walks into a room. So romantic! In fact just last year my parents took my twin brother Aaron and I with them on a vacation to a white sandy beach resort in Hawaii where they renewed their vows.   You may think that the reason why my parents loved each other this much was because they had no problems which allowed them to be happy all the time. As a matter of fact their marriage was far from being problem free. My parents always wanted lots of kids. Unfortunately despite trying to conceive for 7 years they raked up enough money by saving and taking small loans to afford fertility treatment which resulted in my brother Aaron and I. Despite wanting to have more children they simply could not afford it. It took them years to pay off their debts and be financially well off. Dad says that’s one of the reasons why he loved mum so much because she stuck with him even when he had nothing. Now that he has everything he makes sure to show mum just how much she means to him.   Watching these two love birds created a deep longing within my heart. This may sound cliché, but I dreamed of being swept off my feet by my very own Prince Charming, a handsome, caring, kind hearted man who would love me forever and ever. Now don’t get me wrong, I didn’t intend on being the helpless female who needed to be rescued. As a matter of fact, I could rescue my Prince seeing as I have a black belt in Karate! I’m not your average girl. Yes I do love dressing up and getting my nails and hair done but I also believed that inside every woman there is deep strength. A strength that can help her overcome anything.   Due to being such a hopeless romantic, I never was interested in dating someone in high school. I mean which teenager except me of course wants to think of forever these days? I wasn’t short of potential dates as I am what most would consider attractive. I have long black hair, olive skin and light brown eyes with an hour glass figure but my heart was certain that if I was to meet my true love I should be patient. My brother thought that I was weird he started dating Sarah from the age of 16. She’s sweet I love her like a sister. I somehow believe that my brother has met his true love. I see a lot of mum and dad in the two of them.   Something about today feels different. I couldn’t help but feel that perhaps today would be the day I meet my true love, my soul mate, my forever and ever then it happened.
