But all she hears are the sounds of the trees softly swaying. The color of her hair almost resembles the color of the snow that falls on it. Suddenly, howls sound from the forest. She gets up and starts to run. She dodges the trees as she hears footsteps running behind her. She runs in the direction where she knows there is a cliff. She has run through these woods many times now and spent days preparing for this day. She runs as fast as she cans and knows that if she slows down the werewolf behind her will kill her. She finally sees the edge of the cliff but she doesn’t slow down, in fact, she speeds up more and once she’s at the edge, she jumps. She closes her eyes as she falls and calls out. “Archion” Pain flows through her body, her body grows in size. Wings grow on her back and golden scales protrude from her skin. When she is almost at the ground, she spreads her wings and flaps them. She flies up and glides on top of the forest scanning the scenery. Knowing where she needs to go, she flies to a clearing where wolves fight. She sees a big brown wolf, butterflies flutter in her stomach as she recognizes her mate. The Alpha sees her and gives a loud howl. Every wolf fighting from his pack retreat leaving the enemy confused. She inhales a deep breath and then expels it. Fire spews from her mouth engulfing anyone who gets in the way. The enemy retreats, they now know they can’t win this fight. “And now they will cheer for you. How unfair is that.” Archion says annoyed. “Stop being a baby, we won, and that’s all that matters. Now they know that it would be suicide to mess with our pack.” Victoria tells him. Archion sighs. “You know, I used to be a god amongst the supernatural beings, and now I have to be at the mercy of a little girl.” “Well to be exact, I would be your great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great... I lost count. Great-granddaughter times hundred?... Maybe? You get it.” Victoria says in her head to Archion. Archion sighs again. "Well, it's still not fair. I have all the control now but I easily get tired and can't hold this form for too long... but know that if I could, I would have taken over already." Victoria giggles. "No, you wouldn't. I know you will never admit it but you care for me." Archion grumbles annoyed but doesn't deny it. He descends through the air and slams on the ground on a field near the packhouses. Archion gives a big stretch and then starts to shift giving Victoria her human form back. Once she is in her full human form, from behind her someone puts a blanket over her covering her naked body. “You were amazing Vic.” Luke says now hugging her. Archion sighs in her head. She smiles at him and hugs him back. “Did you have any trouble here?” “No, they didn’t attack any of the packhouses. Isaac was right.” Luke says. “Is Isaac back yet?” She asks. Luke nods his head. “I saw him in the front. He’s unharmed.” Victoria smiles and kisses Luke. In the few months that passed, they have all gotten closer even though they still butt heads. It is not easy for any of them to be mated to each other but they always manage to put their differences aside and work together to make their relationship work. They walk to the front where they see Isaac now in human form giving orders. He sees Victoria and walks fast over to her. He pulls her to him and gives her a rough kiss that lets her know that he is hungry for her. She pulls him back and smiles. “Everything worked just like you said.” He smirks. “That's because I am good at what I do.” (He is right, he is good in everything he does.) Victoria thinks to herself. “So now what?” She asks. “Now, since they know that brute force won't win them anything, we wait for negotiations.” Isaac tells her. “Do you think this will all be done before we start school again?” She asks him. “I think it will, but we will see.” They will be returning to The Waver Academy in a week. After the attack at the academy, parts of the school were rebuilt but only the important parts, like the classrooms and magic rooms. There was a lot of damage that required the students to leave so they waited until winter break to do it. “Do you think our room will be ready by then?” Victoria asks as they walk back to the house. “God, I hope so. Sharing a room with this ogre and only with him was a nightmare.” Luke says pointing at Isaac. “Yeah well, it’s not a field day for me either princess.” Isaac barks back at Luke. “Oh come on, don’t start you two.” Victoria says knowing that they are going to start an argument. They both roll their eyes at each other and then head inside following Victoria. After they all get cleaned up, they head to the dining room. “So they won’t bother us anymore uncle Isaac?” Ella, Isaac's niece asks. “That’s correct, aunty Victoria scared them away.” Isaak says picking her up. Ella claps feeling happy. Archion scuffs in Victoria’s head. “I, scared them off.” He says and Victoria rolls her eyes. During these past few months, relations with one of Isaac's neighboring pack have become unstable. A new Alpha took over and he seems to want to expand his territory. He is stupid and young. Even without Victoria’s help, Isaac's pack is three times bigger than his and can easily take them. “It’s your bedtime, Ella.” Isaac says. “Oh come on. I wanted to play with uncle Luke.” She wines. “We can play tomorrow Ella.” Luke says. She hugs everyone and leaves happily with that. They all sit around the table feeling tired. Victoria sighs. “That was a long day.” “Do you need a massage? I'd be happy to give you one.” Luke says and Isaac rolls his eyes. Victoria smiles at Luke. “Yea, maybe later.” One of the pack members brings them their dinner and they start eating. “Have you heard anything from the headmaster about Scarlet?” Victoria asks. Isaac shakes his head. “No, he’s not giving me anything.” After they apprehended Scarlet the teachers took her away. The head of the supernatural council called the magistrate took her, at least that’s what the headmaster told them. They don't know where they took her. “Once we are in school, we can poke a bit more. We’ll find out where she is.” Luke says. Victoria knows that he’s right. The best way to find out more about where she was taken to is when they get back to school. They continue with their meal completely oblivious of what is happening somewhere else at this moment. Miles away, witches assemble in a circle. They chant and cast a spell that they have been preparing for months now. An older witch walks over to another younger one that stands in the middle of the circle. The young girl, with long black hair and almost black eyes, looks at the older witch. “Are you ready my child?” The old witch asks. The younger one takes a deep breath and nods. “Yes, high priestess.” “You are a vessel, the only one born in three generations. My child, be proud. Your soul will die but your body will go on. And you will be, powerful.” Surrounding them, besides the witches, there are four silver bowls that contain items and ingredients for the incantation. One contains something pure, the heart of a child. The next one contains something elemental, the wooden skin of a dryad. (Dryad-Tree nymph or tree spirit.) Another one contains an item made out of pure magic, the scales of a draconian. Then there is the item that is linked to a powerful witch's soul, an old amulet. And the last ingredient, the willing vessel, the nineteen-year-old girl that stands in the middle, waiting for her death. The grand priestess lifts a red crystal up and all the witches start to chant louder. Even though it is already night, the skies turn darker. Thunder can be heard from the dark heavens. The items in the silver bowls ignite. Fire consumes them. Then, lightning strikes the red crystal and it deviates to the dark haired girl. The girl shakes violently, the white of her eyes turns completely black. The smoke from the burnt items swirls around the girl as if they had a mind of their own and then they enter her through her nose and mouth. Her body stops shaking and she falls to the ground. They all stop chanting and wait. The grand priestess slowly walks over to the girl's body. “Jenny?” The girl stirs, lifts her head, and looks at the grand priestess. “Endora... my name is Endora.” The high priestess kneels in front of Endora and bows. Endora gets up and starts to study her hands as if they were new to her. “I feel empty. Weak.” She says in an irritated tone. “We know how to fix that my mistress.” The high priestess says still kneeling. "Once we finish with our preparations, the soul will be ripe for the taking." Endora smiles pleased. “Good.” (Author) I announce updates and notifications on my Insta (@norisha.may) and f******k (Norisha May)
