Prologue

I lurked behind the long thick trunk of the tree with a hand on my chest and covering my mouth to muffle any screams or pants fighting to come out. The footsteps and clear voices weren’t distant anymore. They were nearing and it terrified me. My eyes shut tightly as I prayed to the lord to save me. With trembling legs and shaky hands, I tried to balance myself straight sticking to the tree like my life dependent on it. Who was I kidding? It did. “Where’s she now?” One man shouted to the others. “C’mon find her if you don’t want to be eaten alive by the dogs!” Another barked. The rustling and cracking of leaves was heard and it was so damn close. My heart thumped against my chest and my feet moved back to cling to the tree not caring about the ants that were crawling on it and near my foot. My inner screamed as it started climbing my legs and under my trouser. Not able to withstand it; I shook my leg as they fall off it. Feeling relieved for a second, I thought to move my place. It wasn’t safe anymore. Grateful for the darkness around me, I tried to seize this opportunity to move away making sure the ants weren’t on me. With a swift turn, my foot stepped on a twig and it broke under my weight throwing me off guard. My eyes bulged out as tears rolled down my cheeks. Checking around to find no one, I made a dash to the nearest cluster of trees to hide better. When I was close to it, I realized the sudden silence. My heart was in my mouth. My chest thumping in my ears and the stomach churned in anticipation of something was wrong. Did they just leave? Should I check it? Right now, my back was stuck to another tree and my chest heaved heavily. Waiting for another 10 counts, I opened my eyes and peeked through the leaves but found no soul. Feeling suddenly blessed, I turned to my right and Voila! Turning back again, I sighed in relief and decided to move out yet cautiously towards my freedom. Not before I walked out of my hiding place, a strong grip on my shoulder almost made me piss in my pants. I stopped in my tracks and suddenly the cool air around me turned icy like the hand holding me. The touch was enough to let me know who it was. “Tsk… Tsk… Tsk… Are you scared, love?” The mocking deep voice shook every cell on my body as I fought my tears at the bay. “N-No…” The whisper sounded more like a prayer from me. He laughed and despite his iciness; his laugh was melody in this night sky but I knew better! “Oh common Sari… You know what I’m here for. First you dare run away from me and now…” The cheery voice slowed and the intonation changed sounding more serious. “You’re lying…” he whispered close to my ear making me cringe. “Let’s see what punishment awaits you, bad girl.” He teased me with caressing the crook of my neck with the tip of his tongue making me shudder. “Now…” Suddenly all those lost men arrived rushing and grabbed me making me stumble on my wobbly legs. “To my pet!” he ordered and I shook in fear. “No… No… No please… Please sir. I won’t ever do it again… Sir please…” I screamed as the men carried me over their heads cuffing my hands and legs with their hands. I struggled screaming but none bothered as I turned to watch the sinister smile on my Boss c*m Professor’s face. They boarded a safari as it jerked several times before stopping at the huge residence of Martin’s. The name matched the owner- The Lord’s Residence. Exhaustion took best of me and the throat felt like sandpaper; even the tears dried as I decided to face it bravely. If he wants to see me broken; I won’t grant him this wish. Two of the henchmen, roughly brought me to secluded area and threw me on the ground before closing the door behind them leaving me in the dark. My eyes traveled around feeling the warmth in this darkness but suddenly, the dim light turned on and I saw a glass wall surround me. The water gushed in soaking me wet and I shivered. Protecting myself with my arms, I stood up and my eyes landed on the man behind all these- Mr. Adrian Martin! He watched me with a smirk and I hated him for this. Standing up and covering my wet body from him, I lowered my eyes. Mr. Martin, you won’t be content today. Ignoring his intense gaze, my eyes landed on his pet making my breath hitched. There was a huge lion sitting at the end of the room. My heart raced as I glanced back at the devil and his expression was unreadable. “Ari boy! See I’ve got a friend for you. Do you wanna play?” His voice boomed through a speaker as I felt dizzy. The lion didn’t buzz but his ears were erect. He appeared to be sleeping. “Wake him Up!” My boss ordered making my fists ball in anger. Out of nowhere, few pebbles landed on us and it irked the lion who groaned as he stood in defending position. His eyes landed on me and then outside the glass, finding his master. He wasn’t pleased and when he watched me again, like he was waiting for some approval before he straightened up. His head lowered, tail moved back and forth and roared with his head raised up and shaking it in negative! The deafening roar would definitely have made me s**t in my pants but yet again I was too engrossed in calming my aching heart. I thought I was having a heart attack and freeze when it started approaching me. “He-Help! So-someone Help…” fumbling with my own words, I backed slowly but it somehow annoyed the lion. *Roar* My ears hurt as my hands covered them automatically and I turned to run away from him but it must have threatened the lion. He charged towards me pawing my chest and my elbow caught in his mouth. The sharp teeth penetrated my skin. It alarmed me as I fought back. Adrenaline rushed while I tried to push it away using my entire strength. The lion wasn’t backing out. It let go of my elbow before scratching my legs with his claws. It was painful like my thigh was skinned and I groaned in pain, checking it. The lion held my neck before throwing my down. In the process, I was able to caught it’s limb but it only made him mad. It roared again and attacked my neck making me hiss in pain. My mouth sealed, trying to endure the pain but it blinded me and in another moment- I fell in the water. For a moment I forgot I had hydrophobia, that I can’t swim and my senses only alerted when another heavy body landed on my, struggling to get a grip of me. I panicked and writhed trying to free myself from the lion’s hold and push it away. Trying every technique to float above but I was failing and the fear grew. I did my best kicking my hands and legs but it made me exhausted and I coughed with the lack of oxygen. Water filled my lungs about to explode it; I stayed still feeling light. With closing eyes, I saw Ari still as he nudged me with his nose. The water splashed again and someone pulled me out before I gave up feeling tired. In my dream, I heard his voice yelling at someone and a bullet fired. It shook me but I was too tired to move a limb. “Get off her you freak!” His voice clear and loud before I felt warm lips on mine and my heart fluttered.    The heaviness lifted before I heard his voice again. “No one would touch her remember that” Again those warm lips were back on mine filling me up with warmth. Then again I was at loss of this warmness. “Only I can torment her, bully her, break her and r****h her because she is mine!” He yelled. "You can't leave me until I permit you. Do you get it?" His cold whisper near my ear was still demanding. "Yes Professor." I mumbled in my dreams. “Good girl.” Another warm kiss on my temple finally made my senses went numb like my body.
