Prologue

Have you ever felt that your life just isn't yours? That no matter what you do, nothing goes your way? The pain and frustration of not being able to have a voice or to do what you really wish to do. That everyone around you wants to control you like a puppet. Being born rich does not mean you are born free.     The nightmares coming to you like a flooded river. The hunger that needs to be satiated, but you can't choose how to. The dreams of a better life and a better future are far just because of what you are or where you come from. Being with someone who cares, someone who no matter what, it's always there for you.      Accepting you for who you are, and not who your family is. That is all I want.     Imagine a better world. Outside of these walls. With no one ordering you or pretending to be a happy family. In reality, it is just the opposite. You just want to scream and escape this nightmare. 'Be proper' they say. 'Sit up straight, don't chew with your mouth open, a lady always smiles, a girl does not climb a tree or run around, a girl never fights, and a proper lady does not feed on trash'. Oh yes, perks of being born a vampire in a golden cradle.     Those were the words I could hear all the time. I just wanted to live my life. To try new things. New adventures. To dress the way I want to. To fall in love. It is horrible to have your family arrange your whole life, just because their greed overpowers love.     Trying my best to go along with it. But on the inside, I was screaming like crazy. I needed to get out of here. I needed to taste freedom, smell the fresh air, enjoy nights full of life, enjoy the sunlight without having to hide, taste fresh blood, not just what my parents would get me. Leave this suffocating situation. Luxury and I just don't go hand in hand. I was unlucky to have been born in this life.     Was there something for me? Someone to love? Friends to admire? I would never know unless I try it.      My life had changed as soon as I met him. Handsome, sensible and kind. He made me feel loved and appreciated. He changed my way to see things and taught me to appreciate the finest things in life. I am thankful for that guy who without knowing me, offered his friendship. I just hope that he never finds out what I am, or I could lose him forever. And I needed him in my life.
