Black... Red... Yellow...

Prologue - Past... The rain was heavy and hit hard against the roof of the car. Penelope was frightened by the noise coming from outside, but she didn't want to show her parents that she was scared.  The little Chinese American girl thought it would be embarrassing if they knew about it. After all, she was already 10 years old and no longer a little girl; no matter how many times her father called her a little princess in Chinese, that was just a nickname. The little family trip continues against the storm, and it should only take another 30 minutes for them to get home and find their beds and the warmth of their duvets. However, despite the bad weather, the Chen couple wouldn't change anything on that day. Penelope's ballet recital had been beautiful, a complete talent in her parent's eyes. She was one of the few Asian children present at the only ballet school's performance in the small town they lived in. The recital was a partnership with the school in the nearby town who owned a larger space that would support all parents and relatives of the little ones. This is why the family Chen currently is passing by the steep mountain that separated the two cities... ... In reality, the steep mountain wasn't the only way to return home, but it was the fastest. And after long hours of work, the idea of spending more than an hour and a half in the car wasn't tempting at all.  They were near the last curve down when she felt something strange in the car, and she noticed that it wasn't getting slower... Just... Getting more and more accelerate while going down the road. She heard her mother yell at her father in Chinese; however, with the noises from outside and the desperation in her mother's voice, Penelope couldn't understand what she was saying. The car turned around, and she could have sworn it looked like the wheels had come off the ground... Or at least two of them, the ones from the driver's side.  But she couldn't say for sure, after that all went like a flash before her eyes, she heard a loud bang and thought it was something like a clap of thunder that had fallen close to them until finally everything was overcome by the darkness of the night... ... When Penelope opened her eyes again, she could no longer hear the loud noise from the rain, but a man's deep voice was what made her wake up. Penelope found from where the voice was coming... He was standing in front of his mother with his hand close to her neck. "ARE YOU FEELING SOME PAIN?" When their eyes met, he asked her in desperation. The little girl opened her mouth to answer; however, it was at that moment that she felt the full impact on her small body. She couldn't speak... Her voice didn't come out, and she was getting more and more short of breath, and the fact that she had now noticed the broken front glass and the blood on all sides of the car made the situation worse for the girl, who became desperate when she realized that her parents didn't move or make a sound either. The panic that Penelope felt was so big she didn't even notice when she was pulled out of the car and placed with her back against a tree.  The man now stood before her with a terrified expression and waved his hand before her eyes... A few moments she saw... Others, no... And that made a breath of life managed to escape her young lips... "I-I... do-don't... want t-to die..." she asked as tears streamed down her face, not from the pain but from the fear that her life would end there. She could see that the man had been shocked by her words, and for a moment, he froze before placed his wrist over her mouth. "Da-damn it! There's so much blood! I don't know if it's yours or mine!" Her vision was blurry again, and the rain was getting stronger more one time when he sighed, pulling the collar of her shirt aside. "I hope this works..." She could hear him murmur against her shoulder before she felt the pain of a bite. It didn't feel like it had been him. It feels like it had been a dog; she'd been bitten by one before, she knew that pain perfectly. But that was nothing compared to the pain and pressure that was increasing in her chest... Hardening her breathing... She could see his eyes for a moment, bright yellow... "Like the wolves in the book..."  She thought before everything around her grew dark...
