Welcome to my first book! This is my first book so please excuse my flaws. This started my journey as a writer and I hope you enjoy Hyan and Charrie's story. ------- "My flight to Japan was delayed for 50 mins." Charrie placed her phone between her shoulder and her ear, her hand was busy unpacking her laptop. She spoke with her good friend Joe, her friend since college and working for her company as one of its top executives. She ate the last piece of cookie she took from the food counter and sipped the water while speaking with Joe. It was a good thing she upgraded her airline ticket to first-class using the miles or points she accumulated out of her many local and international trips. At the very least, she was grateful that she was comfortably seated and able to do some work while waiting in the private lounge with the rest of the business and first-class passengers. She re-opened her laptop, which she closed before the flight delay announcement. After waiting in the airport for more than an hour, she was done reading all her pending emails and the reports sent by her staff. She also reviewed some of the business proposals, and now she runs out of things to do. "The time I spend in airports waiting are longer than the time I spend on any of my appointments. Why are these flight delays so rampant nowadays?" Charrie told Joe while pouting her mouth and shaking her head. He laughed, "Maybe-- when we are richer, we can have your trips chartered." Joe could imagine how restless she looked at that moment. "Yeah--That's what we will do!" she smiled. "Alright, let me find something to keep me occupied. Bye Joe." Charrie ended the call Realizing another hour of waiting would be her ordeal, she searched for a k-drama to watch using a Netflix subscription. Kdrama gained a lot of followers for many years. One of her friends forced her to watch one series several months ago, and she was hooked thereafter. Watching those series helped her relax, although she wished they were dubbed. She discovered that k-dramas were fun to watch, they project beautiful sceneries, and storylines were above par. She has just finished a famous series, with a beautiful Korean actress and a very handsome actor. She even liked the official soundtrack (OST) of the said series. She admitted, instant attraction to the lead actor. It was a kind of attraction she had not experienced before. She liked the actor for his acting and his appearance. She also learned that the actor was in Manila for an endorsement contract. She wished she could meet the man in person, to fill her curiosity if the man on the screen was the same as the man in person. Charrie wondered about the character of the man. The man who captivated the hearts of millions of fans must be interesting enough to maintain his fans' support. A good appearance was not enough to draw the number of fans he has all over the world. His acting prowess was not enough either. There was something in him that she couldn’t figure out. She smiled when she thought that it might just be her boredom that made her mind wander too much. She was never attracted to a movie star prior, or any man in that matter, but-- why did she seem attracted to the actor? A fan mentality? Odd, weird…whatever. She silently muttered. At the back of her mind, it was all nonsense. She was too busy to indulge in the fan-girl activity. On top of that, as the CEO of an established health technology company, she was not fit to be a mere fan. The actor’s world and her own were so different, their paths wouldn’t cross in this lifetime. Shaking her head, she heaved a deep sigh and scolded herself, "Really, Charrie? A fan? You are a CEO for heaven’s sake, and yet, you are considering being a mere fan? Wake up, girl!” It was as if a whole bucket of cold water was poured on her. She cringed at her own foolishness. At twenty-six or rather twenty-seven, she corrected herself since it would be her birthday the next day. She's an accomplished business person, running the family business her parents built and gearing it up to a new level of competitiveness. Charrie spent the last six years of her life learning the ins and outs of the company. She had very little time for herself and was always on business trips as they solicited clients locally and in countries all over Asia. She devoted her time to growing the company that her parents established even before she was born. She introduced new product lines which enabled it to compete and conquer the global market. There was no chance that she would be a fangirl. She closed her eyes and tried to relax her muddled brain. A few seconds after she closed her eyes, her phone buzzed, —a call from Candies. She was another good friend from college, also an executive in her company. Both Joe and Candies were her reliable work support; without their cooperation, it would have been hard for her to grow the business. "Yes, Candies," she closed her eyes again while speaking with her friend. "Check your email please, I sent you the final contract. We revised the last draft," Candies informed her. She seemed in a hurry, Charrie figured, but not surprised. Their office work had increased over the years and they needed additional staff. She was fortunate her officers and staff were not yet complaining. Charrie immediately did as she was told and replied, "I'll give you feedback later," she was not in the mood to examine its content yet. She had just finished checking two contracts earlier and was a bit tired of looking at legal documents again. "Okay girl, take care, see you in two days." Candies ended the call as she was about to attend another meeting. After Charrie put down her phone, she continued listening to the OST; her eyes remained closed while she listened to it. After a few minutes, and she was feeling a little better, she then looked for Candies' e-mail. The content was the contract they needed for tomorrow's contract signing. Since it was a legal document, she carefully read the content. The same document has been revised several times. She figured it was the final draft. They found a Tokyo company to partner with and the contract signing tomorrow would seal the deal. The trip to Tokyo was important for their company. Firstly, she and Joe would be attending a conference for technical companies. This would offer them a chance to network with tech companies globally. Secondly, to close the deal with the Tokyo partner. Thirdly, their company was invited to participate in a product exhibit, a business mileage. They would definitely gain access to the Japanese market. Aside from that, Charrie, as the President and CEO of her company, would be receiving a plaque of recognition as one of the outstanding performing companies in Asia. Their company was among the five companies that were chosen from over 100 participants worldwide. She went ahead with her team, which was why she was traveling alone. The rest of her team will be joining her the day after tomorrow. Her team would handle the inquiries about the product and perform other marketing activities. Charrie concentrated on reviewing the contract that her friend had sent her and after reviewing it, she immediately emailed it back to Candies. She closed her eyes after she sent the document and murmured, which came out a little louder than she intended to... “Charrie! Close this deal!" She had her earphones and was not aware of her voice volume. Earlier, while her gaze was fixed on the document, she didn't notice the man in front of her watching her every expression. He had been staring at her intently and amusedly laughing silently at her actions. At first, he tried to get her attention since he planned to ask her permission before he occupied the chair in front of her. However, she never looked at him, so he proceeded to occupy the chair quietly. He was used to attention wherever he went. That was why some sudden lack of attention of the lady surprised him. It was the first time he encountered such a situation. The lady in front of him didn’t notice his existence. More so, after she was done with her task, her eyes closed while listening to the OST. Not once did she bother to look in his direction. If only she had glanced at him, she would have noticed that the man she wished to meet was actually in front of her. Her lack of interest intrigued the man... He was amused. He was a busy person, he worked on a very tight schedule, he traveled from country to country all year round. The visit to this country, in particular, was time-sensitive. They barely had a good rest in three days. In fact, he was able to sit in front of her right now,--was due to his insistence to allow him to rest for at least thirty minutes. Otherwise, he would be in front of the people waiting outside to get the last glimpse of him before they leave the country. He was so tired, so he grumpily ordered a few minutes off. He found her table in the corner. He quietly sat on the chair in front of her. He didn't have any intention of disturbing her relaxation. He wanted to ask before he sat down if it was alright to occupy the space, but she was engrossed in listening to something. When he looked at the phone on the table, he recognized an OST flashing on the screen. He smirked when he saw the type of music she was listening to. He continued to look at her lovely heart-shaped face and her smooth fair skin without any cosmetics. "She's cute," he murmured to himself. When Charrie finally opened her eyes, she did not notice him still. He saw her attention instantly glued on the laptop in front of her. The man was no other than Wang Hyan, a well-known name in the entertainment industry. An SK actor for more than ten years with highly acclaimed drama series and blockbuster movies. He gathered more awards than he could remember as his performance in every project was worthy of recognition from award-giving bodies. His solid fan base increased exponentially both in his homeland and in other countries. People gathered wherever he appeared. Being unnoticed, unexpectedly, was the first for him. "This is interesting," he thought, and he smirked. At first, he presumed he was being deliberately ignored by her. Later on, he saw how engrossed she was in her work and was intent on listening to his own OST. He had witnessed as well how her eyebrows curled while she carefully read the document on her laptop. Also, the bright smile she flashed when she was satisfied with the work that she did. More so, when she said the name CHARRIE, which he guessed was her name. All her reactions were noted by Hyan like he was watching a movie. Charrie's angelic face, clear pinkish skin, and her face so void of makeup caught his interest. Even her thin and delicate lips with a slight gloss, light brown eyes, and a pointed small nose, he noticed. He feasted on those details while he silently sat opposite her. Charrie's hair was styled in a messy bun, with a few strings dropping down to her shoulders and nape. She was like a delicate doll. He was sitting on this chair for the past fifteen minutes, and the lady never glanced at him. Hyan smiled at the thought that a person seemed to be disinterested in him. But--How come she was listening to my OST? Hyan was confused and at the same time amused. "Is she also a fan? Why was she listening to my OST?" he gave a half-laugh while gazing at her. Finally, Charrie opened her eyes. Immediately she saw Hyan was smiling while looking at her. There was still no recognition at first, she simply smiled back at him out of politeness. But, she blinked several times, then, her expression slowly changed when she realized who the man was. She opened her mouth and it formed an O. Hyan's smile reached his eyes, and his dimples appeared. He was gorgeous, looking undeniably Asian with his short brown hair, brown eyes set on slanted lids under the formed eyebrows, prominent nose, and thin lips. Very notable was his flawless complexion. Charrie swallowed hard, her face turned red and her eyes opened wide. "The man...Is he?" she murmured and in her thoughts, "Oh my god", still unable to speak a single word. She was stupefied. With a tender smile on Hyan's face, he said, "Hello Charrie?", raising a brow as he tried to confirm her name. Still open-eyed, Charrie stared at him as if confirming her vision. She blinked several times. Then she sat straight abruptly, she asked in a daze, "Wang Hyan?" it came out like a whisper. "Yes!" Hyan chuckled, bedazzled with the expression he saw on her face. Disbelief registered in Charrie's face, and then she blushed even more. She tried hard to shake off her mixed emotions. "H-Hi! Mr. Wang," she stuttered. She wanted to kick herself, to confirm if she was just dreaming. "Call me Hyan," he laughed, which made him more attractive, and it rendered Charrie even more speechless.
