The Cursed Castle

A Mother's Curse

She walked. faster and faster though she couldn't see where she was going. The hall was dark. very dark. But she kept moving. The castle reeked of blood, burning wood and carpets, sweat and surprisingly a scent, a faint scent, the scent of baby breath. she didn't know how far she had walked, all she knew was that she still hadn't found a way out of the cursed castle. 

The castle was cursed thousands of years ago by a mother who sacrificed her son for her people. She was the queen of the Vampires and was married to the vampire king but she had relations with the king of the demons, the devil. She got pregnant with the devil's child and bore a beast, a Vampire-Demon. Half Vampire, half demon. he was uncontrollable and just had to be locked up least he wiped out their race. she locked herself in the castle with her son and cursed the castle - whatever came into it would never go out except the beast was killed, which was nearly impossible as no one could ever touch the beast.

No one had ever seen him because of his immense speed. In the bat of an eyelid, they would have their guts spilled out on the floor and their blood would be his meal. No one knows what happened to the queen but they all believed that he must have killed her.

She began to run. not looking back. she didn't care about the castle's tales. she just had to find a way out. no matter what. she stumbled on a vase lying in front of her. she fell and sprained her ankle. she tried to move but was restricted by the sharp pain in her ankle and a sharper pain in her thigh. it seems she had also fallen on a piece of broken glass. 'oh no'.

She could hear screams and wails, sharp metals hitting against each other, claws swinging through the air. She heard wood burning, a part of the castle was on fire. Items fell, bodies fell, the castle was in chaos. Skyler silently prayed that Artemis would never find her. But the truth still remained that if he didn't see her he would definitely smell her out. She had to keep moving.

It was stupid but it was better than doing nothing. She heard a shril and cold laugh coming from the lobby behind her. It was Artemis. He had separated a man's head from his body and was obviously pleasured by the sight of the headless body that lay still on the ground.

"Weaklings !" The beast roared in a dark voice that sounded like thunder, shaking up the entire castle.

Skyler froze.

Her eyes widened knowing that he was not very far from her and very soon he would find her. Her entire life was miserable, her family had made sure of that. They treated her no less than a swine. No, a swine couldn't live the way she did. It was that bad.

Her parents were vampires. Both from the alpha rank. These were the strongest vampires after the royal-blooded vampires. All her siblings and step-siblings were born vampires, but somehow she was born a human. Callum, her father, felt betrayed. Even though he knew that if his wife had cheated on him with a human the baby would have been born a half vampire, he heard none of it. He wasn't able to stand the thought of his beloved laying with another man so he killed lydia, his wife.

His mistress, Yvonne, who already had a son for him and was also an alpha vampire soon became his wife. After their marriage, she had no other children. She took very good care of Lydia's three children making sure they lacked nothing. All three except Skyler and Callum couldn't even care.

Skyler couldn't scream even though she so badly wanted to.. Streams of tears flowed down from her eyes. She had fallen down again this time falling with her full weight on her injured leg. Blood gushed out. Her breathing was heavy, her chest burned as she tried so hard to fight back the tears. 'what is going on?' 'How did I end up here?' she couldn't stop the tears.

She knew her family hated her but what she didn't know was that they were ready to do anything to get rid of her. Even if it meant pushing her into the cursed castle with the rest disobedient slaves.

Whenever a slave was disobedient their masters reported them to the council. who imprisoned them and then threw them into the castle to be killed. The council were a group of people who made the decisions in the city. They were composed of the strongest, smartest, wisest, calmest and most disciplined vampires in the city of Dashish. since the city had no ruling king.

The Vampires' king was Artemis. His mother had named him after her favorite greek god. Whether they accepted it or not, he was still their king. So until he dies they could not enthrone anyone. The council was created by the late kings brother, Ozim before he died. so the council was called The Council of Ozim.

Her family had accused her of theft and unruly s****l indulgence. They claimed she tried to lure Alex her stepbrother to bed to the extent she drugged him. And of course they planted the right evidence in the right places and so she was proved and declared guilty. Though everyone in the city knew that she was not capable of such they could not ignore the evidence and as such,they passed judgement - "Death by Artemis".

Artemis' intimidating and horror filled laughter jolted Skyler back to reality. She tore a piece of her dress and tied it tightly around her wound. She had learnt this from movies. Gathering all the energy in her, she stood up. Dragging her injured leg she moved as fast as she could. leaving trails of blood behind. Trails of blood which caught someone's attention -
