Chapter one waking up late

983 Words
Violet's P.O.V    I could hear my mother yelling at the top of her voice, standing at the bottom of the stairs.   "Violet! If you don't get up now, you're going to be late on your last day of school!" My mother yelled to me. I pulled my rose blanket over my head, trying to block out the sunlight. My alarm had already gone off several times and I knew I had to get up, mom was right. I sighed, threw the blanket off me and got out of bed. I stumbled to the bathroom, only half awake and turned the shower on, setting it to the right temperature. I got in, washed myself quickly and got out, grabbing my favourite fluffy towel off the rail and wrapping it around me. I scrambled to dry myself off and blow dry my hair, I walked into my walk-in closet and picked out a gray top and a pair of skinny jeans. I looked at the time and I was running slightly behind, so I rushed to get dressed, grabbed my knee high boots, put them on and sat down at my dressing table. I put black eye-liner and a little eye shadow on and then just a touch of lip gloss. I put my hair up in a messy bun, as I didn't have time to do it properly.   "Not bad, not too bad at all." I said out loud, looking at myself in the mirror, I should be in a rush more often I laughed to myself. I looked at the time, ran out my room and downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a bagel with cream cheese, kissed my mother and father on the cheek and raced outside to my car. I had to go pick up Kate and Lisa, but I was running later than usual and just because I was late I didn't want them to be. I sped through the streets, all the time thinking about how busy the next two weeks were going to be, not just for me, but for the whole pack as well.   The Alpha was going to be stepping down and crowning his son Jordan as the next Alpha tonight, after that Jordan would start looking for his mate. I kept thinking about Jordan and how he and his girlfriend Hope had been dating for a while, maybe she was his mate, only tonight will tell and then we will all know. Tomorrow is my birthday as well, I will be turning eighteen and shift for the first time, maybe even finding my mate. I shrugged that thought off, shaking my head, graduation is next week and I have too much to think about to worry about finding my mate. I reached Kate and Lisa right on time and they were already standing outside, waiting for me when I pulled up. They both got in the car with big smiles on their faces. Kate was talking non-stop about the crowning of the new Alpha tonight and my birthday the day after. She playfully elbowed me to get my attention.   "Hey we should go out tomorrow after the shift ceremony. We need and deserve to have a little fun after a long year." Kate said, excitedly and Lisa agreed, her blue eyes were glowing with excitement.   "Yeah you know what, why not? We can go out and have some fun. I can't wait, besides I probably won't even find my mate tomorrow so we should enjoy ourselves." I said, smiling from ear to ear. We drove for a while longer and finally reached the school, we all sighed at the thought of going to classes, but it was our last day and hopefully it would go by fast. We ran to our first class and made it just in time for the bell to ring, it went by pretty fast and soon the bell rang for our second class. After attending all our classes the school day was finally over, I was so happy that when I left the last class I didn't watch where I was going and ran right into a hard chest.    "Oh….I'm sorry…" I said, looking up right into a pair of beautiful hazel eyes. It was Jordan. He stood there for a moment looking down at me, smirking and suddenly his whole body stiffened up, he started sniffing the air and then looked down at me once more. Jordan just shook his head and walked off, leaving me wide eyed and confused.   "What was that all about?" I said, looking back at Kate and Lisa, but they didn't miss a thing.    "Did you see that? It looked like he was looking for his mate already. I wonder who it could be?" Kate asked, looking thoughtful at Lisa. I just shrugged.   "I don't know, but that was weird. Let's head home, so we can relax and start getting ready." I said, as we all walked to the exit and got in my car. I dropped Kate and Lisa off first, then headed home. The ceremony isn't until ten tonight, so I had enough time to take a nap and then get ready, I thought to myself. When i walked in the house my mother was in the kitchen, waiting for me.   "Hey, your dress is hanging up in your room and I've put the matching shoes next to your bed." My mom said, she too was excited for tonight.   "Ok, thanks mom. I'm going to go take a nap before getting ready." I said, smiling at my mom, she just nodded her head and carried on with what she was doing. I walked upstairs to my room and took my boots off, I set the alarm on my phone to wake me up and lay down on my bed. I don't know why I bother setting my alarm though, I know my mom will come and wake me up well before it goes off.
