Chapter 1. Picked Back Up.

234 Words
Diana sighed as she felt the familiar pain in her lower leg that slowly became numb from the ice. She mumbled her most used profanities as she pushed herself back up. She peeked her eyes to the clock that hung on white wall. 11:00. She had got here over two hours ago, she always arrived late coming to the rink. Diana never liked skating with other people. She liked privacy. Diana hadn’t noticed the eyes of the janitor, Rayne, staring at her through the glass while latching onto his mop that also provides as his walking stick for his limped leg. Diana and Rayne had a weird relationship, she had known him ever since she started skating — which was forever ago. It wasn’t father-daughter per se more like that mysterious uncle that you get along with. “Diana, closing time.” Rayne yelled to the young bruised girl. “One more hour?” She pleaded pouting her lip, it had already been well over closing time — still Rayne could never decline Diana’s puppy dog eyes, nothing had changed since she was younger. Diana’s face beamed when Rayne gave her a small, curt nod and proceeded to mop the floor. Diana was quick to continue her skating. Every night she pushed herself harder and harder to her limit. Her injury still restricted her from many moves never the less Diana ignored it, she had treated it like nothing ever happened.
