Chapter 1

One day, in a town near the city of Eynorwa, where bandits attack regularly, plundering and looting everything there was, the town's Elder was giving a speech. Every town had an Elder. Someone respected by all and who was charged to decide the fates and act as a judge. “Today, we pay back those murderers and plunderers by taking the life of one of their own!” The crowd was reminded of the terrible damage that the bandits often inflicted upon them, the sons and daughters who were lost to them, and it was natural to rejoice in those words, it felt just. “Let her death serve as a warning to all criminals who dare think of attacking this town, that we will not sit idle while our children are raped and killed!” said the Elder as the crowd gathered near the execution square to witness. “I'm not one of them . . . I told you . . . I'm an explorer,” said the girl in chains awaiting execution. “Silence! We will not hear your wicked lies; too many times did we fall for this! But never again!” responded the Elder as the crowd's cheers grew even louder. Everyone was preoccupied and so no one noticed a figure drawing near. He was clothed all in black and a cape covered most of his body. The only parts that were revealed were his brown eyes and pointy nose, his sharp mouth and long black hair that covered half of his face. “What's going on?” he asked one of the crowd. “She's a bandit that is going to be executed! What don't you understand?!” the man answered him, surprised that someone would not have heard of the news so far. “Her? A bandit? Don't make me laugh,” the shadowy figure sneered as he gazed into the chained girl's eyes. The henchmen stood at the ready, awaiting the Elder's command. The Elder waved, and the henchmen drew his large axe. The bandit girl only saw what appeared to be the axe's shadow coming closer to her . . . But the shadow stopped. She looked above, and there she saw the shadowy figure, who had stopped the axe with his long, sharp sword. A sound was aroused from the collision of both weapons, and a huge wind hit the place, a wind that appeared to come from the sword. “W . . Who are you? Why are you doing this?” the Elder asked. “Don't take it all on yourself. I'm putting an end to this freak show you've put together,” the shadowy figure replied. The wind shifted his cape, exposing his shoulder for half a second. And there it was, an emblem of some sort that was tattooed. “Th . . . That emblem! He's from Dragon Tooth! Run!” a voice shouted from among the crowd. All raised their voices and cries in fear, they began running away. The henchmen kept staring, pressing his axe against the sword. “Dragon Tooth or not, I will destroy you with my axe,” challenged the henchmen. “Take a closer look,” said the figure in a bitter, taunting tone. The henchmen gazed at his axe, and just as his eyes laid on it, the axe began to break. “Willpower! Impossible!” marveled the Elder. “What is your name?!” he asked the tattooed figure. “It doesn't matter. I'm taking her with me to the Guild. If you want her, come and get her. Just so you know, she didn't do it,” he said, and in a blink of an eye, he cut off the chains and took her with him. “How do you know she wasn't with them?!” enquired the henchman. “Because I've just annihilated the bandits that hurt your town. They won't bother you again,” the shadow said. And with that, he disappeared in the fog.
