Chapter 1

I ran through the trees quickly, bow in hand with arrow notched. The deer was just ahead of me and Arianna was going to head her off. When Arianna jumped out the stag froze in surprise and his last mistake. My arrow flew straight and true. I dragged the deer back to my home before I gutted it quickly and separated the meat. The skin I would scrape the meat off later before leaving it in the sun to dry before using it as another pallet for my bed. I built up the fire before I threw some pieces of meat on the skillet I’d stolen from my brother’s pack. They had quickly declined under his rule. Patrols were none existent now and it was scary how easy it was to get into the pack house undetected and steal a few things I needed to live. The 40 mile run was nothing for me now. I left a large hind quarter for Arianna to eat when she was hungry before tying the rest of the meat up and weighing it down in the stream to keep it fresh for when I needed it. My life was great though a little lonely. I had tried to join another pack but soon gave up that idea after being chased and nearly killed by three wolves that didn’t give me a chance to talk. I no longer trusted anyone except Arianna. If it hadn’t been for Arianna I would have gone back to the pack out of loneliness but ever since I woke up next to Arianna I didn’t feel lonely anymore. We made the perfect team. Our days consisted of hunting when we were hungry and exploring the rest of the day or napping. I got to admit it got pretty boring sometimes. I sighed before I got up and after stripping I climbed into the stream downriver from the food and took a bath. I rubbed some of my stolen shampoo into my long raven black hair and washed it out. I climbed out and dried off before I put on some clean clothes and ate the meat that was now done. Arianna joined me and cuddled up beside me lending me her warmth. ‘Lis I won’t be around here tomorrow. There are some things I need to do and no I can’t tell you what it is. I’ll be back tomorrow night.’ I fell asleep planning what I was going to do the next day. Liam-POV I sighed and pushed back from my chair. Being alpha of a rapidly growing pack is far from easy. I know have to expand my land so that we can live comfortably and still grow. Some land not too far from us with some big hills named Twin Peaks was in the center of it. Tomorrow we would have to go in and either run off any rogues or let them join us. I sighed again. Today had been one long day. I got up and climbed the stairs to my room ignoring the sounds of mates in the other rooms. God how I wanted my mate. I had yet to find her and it felt like I’d never find her. I went to bed dreaming of finding my mate.
