Prologue Dewi I knew the moment she stepped foot in my London offices, even if she was many floors and thousands of tons of glass and concrete below me. I knew. It was like the earth stopped spinning. My fingers shook and only clasping them around the back of my chair seemed to ease them. My head was suddenly filled with the sound of my dragon as he fought to be free. He could sense her too. And he wanted to go to her . To wrap his talons around her and take to the sky. To take her somewhere safe where we could explain to her who we were. Who she was to us and above all keep her safe. That was all I had ever wanted to do. And yet I had failed time and time again. And I must live with that. That gnawing emptiness that came with failing her. With losing her. Our bond, the bond that she had forgotten when I sacrificed my heart to save her life slammed against my ribs. She was so close now. Would she smell the same? Would she … As if in a dream I made my way to the door. Pausing only to gather my breath. So close. My Amelia, my heart and soul and the mother of a daughter I had never met she would be travelling up in the lift now. Metal bringing her closer to me by the second. And I wanted to see her as she stepped out of the metal box. The moment she stepped out of it. A year apart was more then enough. It was time she came home. Plastering a smile on my face I opened the door and waiting for my whole life to arrive.
