A normal day for an assassin

I woke up by the sound of lightning and thunder crashing in the dark of the night. The rain was ticking softly on the roof of the shed which I call home. I normally preferred to sleep outside underneath a willow but the rain made it almost impossible. I sat up straight against the wall and stared through the small window close to my head. It wasn’t exactly a window as it had more similarities with a hole in a piece of wood. Which it probably was. Just a hole. I looked down the bunk bed which I was currently seated on and saw the rest of my team still asleep. Good, I thought. They needed every minute of sleep they could get. I shoved the thin woolen blanket aside as I made my way to the edge of the bed. My bare feet touched the wooden bars of the ladder and soon I would be standing in the middle of the room. The shed was not that big, but big enough for a couple of rogues to survive. There were 8 bunk beds for 16 persons including me. Nearby were two buckets, one which served as a water bucket while the other served as our toilet during cold periods.Next to the buckets was a small chest with some spare close, just in case, someone needed it. So yeah, I was used to living with nothing. I tried to open the shed door while making sure the squeaking sound wouldn’t wake someone up as I stepped outside. The cold January wind was slamming against my face, but I never flinched. The sun was making its rise to the sky, casting an orangey glow over the forest trees. I estimated the time around five o’clock in the morning. The rest of my group wouldn’t wake up for another half hour. This was an exception for James. James was currently guarding the property so the others would have a safe sleep. The rain started to slow down as I made my way over to the line of trees where James was standing guard. I felt the wet grass underneath my feet as I did not own any shoes. James' looked tense as I came near him. He probably sensed someone coming closer. The moment I came in a 20-meter range, he turned around, ready for an attack. He stood his ground when he saw it was me. I gave him a quick nod as we both turned our gazes out into the woods. We stood in silence for 25 minutes. The squeaking sound of the shed door told us that the rest of the group was awake as well. The sun was already higher in the sky when everybody made their way over to the grass court. It was time for morning practice. Nobody said a word as I ordered them to stand in the setup for our usual training. I gave the signal, causing all of the rogues to scatter. They hid and/or fled into the woods. This training was about survival. Their goal was to either stay hidden without being found or to overpower me in combat. The last one was quite difficult as I was the best fighter in the group. This gave me the title of leader. I waited for like 30 seconds before I started my walk into the woods. The rain was pouring again which made it harder for me to find the individuals. Therefore I tried another technique. You see, I am a born werewolf which meant, my overall senses are way stronger than any human senses. This time, I focused on my hearing. Even though the sound of the rain was making it difficult for me. I knew some of the rogues would try to stop their breathing to minimalize the sound they produced but one can never stop their heart from beating without dying. The first heartbeat was on my right high up in the trees. I smiled as I thought of that person as an i***t. I walked further down the path knowing the person above me could jump at me any second. When he did, I was ready. Before the person could even blow a punch, I already turned around to push him in the chest. He landed right into a mud pool. I walked over to him and raised him in the air by his throat as a sign that in a real battle, he lost his life. I could've killed him with a single twitch of my hand and he knew it. His eyes were open wide and his body showed sweat of fear. I let him go and he apologized. He then walked back to the open area to practice defense techniques until more people were defeated. One person down, 14 more to go. I walked deeper into the woods and heard more heartbeats. Two of them were hiding. Big mistake. They flew to the tree line as I threw them away. More and more people started to come to me. Some tried a sneak attack all by themselves while others went for an overtake by working together. One by one they all went down until one more person was missing. I frowned when there was no other heartbeat. I walked back to the field where 14 rogues were now training in combat. It seemed like James was the one missing. A tap on my shoulder made me jump as I turned around to see James aiming his fist right at my face. I stepped aside just in time to grab his hand before pulling him down and kneeing his belly. He got up and swung his leg to the back of my right knee, making me kneel. He pushed me further down and rolled on top of me. He seemed ready to comment about my strength when I launched him with my feet into the field. Some of the rogues stopped training to see what was going on, but one look from me made them continue their training. They resumed as I walked over to James who laid unconscious against a tree. I woke him up with a slap against the face before offering my hand for him to use. He refused and crawled up himself. He scolded while walking away with a limb leg. One thing was for certain, my team needed a lot more training before they were ready for the first mission.
