Stone cold. Those are the words to describe how Bliss felt. She laid on a twin sized bed in the middle of in a cold darkness with a feeble thin sheet that hardly blocked out the cold breeze that engulfed the room. She woke up since what feels like hours ago, but she couldn't bring herself to move not an inch of her body. Her body was stuck to the bed like it held some type of literal magnetic force over her. Her vigorous headache did her no favors, it could be a variety of things that provided her with the headache, perhaps it was the countless alcoholic drinks she remembers drinking, or it could be the horrid scent of the dead rat that she's been smelling since she's woken up. As she stared into the blank darkness, Bliss thought about her family. Oh how she wished she was with them. Even her step-mother Helen. God knows they didn't end on the best of terms. Their last conversation ended with Bliss calling her a "manipulating street prostitute with no prospects" and "a leech". Bliss resented Helen. She felt like somehow Helen was there to replace her dead mother. What type of person replaces someone dead—maybe a manipulating street prostitute with no prospects. And as for her father, he was really the one to blame, he's the one that let an unfamiliar woman into their lives. He took Helen in like she was stray dog in need of home and turned her into housewife to replace his dead one. It was obvious that it wasn't in his intentions to do so but nonetheless that's what happened. One thing Bliss was grateful was for her baby brother, he was turning one in a couple of weeks. The only good thing that somehow made Bliss's life that much better was her nine-month old kid brother. He just got off of breast-milk and started on formula. The little boy had her heart. She'd close her eyes a envision his beautiful laugh, that flooded her heart with love. Bliss didn't have much tolerance for anything or anyone. She's very short-tempered but when it came to baby Derek, he had leniency. Unlike anyone else in her life he had her heart; her kid brother had a hold over her. She'd do anything for him and she knew this since the first day she held him and looked into his soft brown eyes. She slowly sat up just to lay back down, she underestimated just how sick she felt. Why did she feel this way? Where was she? She needed to know—where ever she was, why was she there? Was she kidnapped? And if so, by who? Who would kidnap her? Anyway she was so blacked out last night, she wouldn't know even if she did anything with her kidnapper, most of everything of the night before was a blur. And just like that she regretted going out that night. She felt terrible, and so she groaned in agony. A pain shot through her stomach, she felt something begging to come up. She leaned to the edge of the bed and began to spew out the contents of her stomach. Just to add to the unforgiving scent that already filled the room. She laid on her back and closed her eyes. A bright light flashed onto her face, slowly she opened her eyes to the painful light. Before she could see, she heard light footsteps walking towards her. She tried sitting up, settling for just leaning on her right elbow. "Hello?" Bliss croaked. She found it hard to speak, her throat was dry. "You're awake." An unidentified feminine voice said. "Who are you?" Bliss asks, squinting her eyes. "My name is Gia, short for Gianna." She said taking a seat next to Bliss's leg. "Where am I?" "I'm just going to get right to the chase, you are in an underground auctioning." The woman said so simply as if she didn't hear the words that came out of her mouth. "What?" Bliss goes with a confused look on her face. Her head still hurts, so she was not entirely sure if she understood what was being told to her. "Wh-what do you mean 'underground auctioning' ?" "You're going to be sold to the highest bidder." "What, like as a merchandise?" Bliss asks. She could not believe what she was hearing. "Exactly." Gia spoke so simply, so unfazed, like she's done this countless times before. She looks to the floor and notices the vomit. "How about we take you a shower, maybe get you something you eat? Then off to examination." "Examination? What examination?" "It's a physical, no need to be afraid. It's for warranty reasons." Gia says. "Warranty reasons? What am I a product? You're going to sell me in auction, like I'm product?" "Exactly." "What type of person does that?" "The type who has a Ferrari to payoff, a type of person who loves staring at them multiple digits on their bank account statement and I hardly get the full percent of the sell. You know how it is, working off of commission." "What the f**k? Who the f**k are you?" "I'm going to be your best friend until you learn some f*****g manners—ladies do not use profanity." If Bliss wasn't so weak, she would've slapped the girl hard, and run as fast as she could towards the white light, but she was weak and she bet Gianna knew it too. ______ __ ______ "Here," Gianna said throwing a towel and dress Bliss' way. Bliss stumbled as she took hold of the items. "Take a shower, you got 15 minutes, then you go eat." Gianna said plainly closing the door as she walks out of the porcelain white wash room. Bliss looks down at the floor under her feet, and squinted her eyes a bit, she was still getting use to the lighting. She walk up to the sink and put her head up so she could see her own reflection in the mirror. She was repulsed by what looked back at her. And she did look awful, like she had been cleaning out a hearth. She looked how she felt, sick and disgusting, like a disease that infested the inside of her own body. She places the towel and plain white dress in the sink and begins to take off her clothes. Her body was so frail and she finally took notice of it, she resembled staving child who hadn't eaten in days. She never before seen her body in such nature. Not to mention the bags under her eyes, they didn't help he situation. Bliss let her dirty clothes fall to the floor and walks over to the shower, she steps in. Turning on the hot water, she lets the warm shower beat down her body as if she was a plant in the desert desperate need of a storm. She uses what she sees and washes her body and her hair. She did the best she could with her hair considering how she didn't have a comb or a brush to detangle her curls. And her hair was naturally very curly. As she bathed herself, she wondered how was she going to get herself out of her current entrapment. She figured she'd find food first and get a bit of her strength back, then she'll try and make a run for it. Easier said than done. She was sure that this mysterious place was locked down tight, but it was the best she could think of at the moment. The way Gia spoke, it sounded to Bliss as if she was implying that where ever she was, it was ring for human trafficking. Well that were explicitly her words. Therefore, Bliss definitely need to find a way out no matter what. Who knows what could happen if she doesn't find a way out quick. Someone loudly bangs against the door. Her body jumps slightly, startled. "Five minutes!" A male voice says. "O-okay. I'm almost done!" She said just loud enough for him to hear. She rinsed off her body one last time and shut off the water. She steps out and grab the towel, dries herself quickly and put the dress on. She take the dirty clothes from the floor. Opens the door slightly and peeks out the door to see a tall indistinctive man, he had all white on, and his face stood dull. 'Security?' She thought. "Are you done?" "I think so." He turns back, "Follow me." He leads Bliss down the hallway and makes a right turn to another white hall. Could he really tell the difference? Bliss wondered. "Where is Gia?" She ask. Nothing. He doesn't turn back and he doesn't utter a word, Bliss lets out a sigh and glances behind her. "Would you at least tell me where are we going?" Still nothing. "What are you deaf? Can you not hear the words that are coming out of my mouth?" He still says nothing. Bliss stops in her tracks. And boy did that get his attention. He turns to face her. "Walk." He sternly orders. "Why? Tell me why. Tell me where I am." She demanded. "Walk." He says again monotonously. "No!" She refuses. "If you don't walk, I'll carry you." She tosses her clothes to the ground, "Be my f*****g guess." She says. He swiftly picks her up and throw her over his shoulder. She closes her eyes and slowly fall asleep.
