Turning the Time in Reverse

1247 Words
--Streets of Helmington, 1900 hours-- The city is busy even in the evening. Steam cars going around the city, people walking on the sidewalk, some workers on the buildings... ...And there's me just blending with the others. I am Eva Chronodia. I am stepping to 18 years old this summer. And let me tell you a thing, I really, REALLY love walking around the city. Sometimes I find myself a lot of interesting stuff whenever I took a hike, like a penny, dropped document (literally), and someone who accidentally dropped other things that belonged to them. Last time, I found myself a ruby earring just lying there on the road. People don't really care about me digging into the road corners, despite me being an ignorant girl. I don't really care about them, I only do what I like to do. I take my time strolling around the city, while looking for any valuables that I might stumble upon. I usually wear my hat and my silver gloves whenever I go outside my house. Oh! Not to forget my metal belt, too! It's very shiny, you know? "Hm?" I veered my eyes into a group of caped man. Wowsies... are they what I think they were? I decided to sneak up on them to a small alley. I hid myself behind a wooden fence that distanced quite far from them. I want to listen to what these fellas gonna say... because they're the renowned Crimson Meisters! "Hm... I wonder what are they talking about? Are they gonna discuss about magic or something? I'm super curious, right now..." *GUBRAK* "O-Owww...." I rubbed my back after having the wooden fence fall over. Am I that heavy? Owie... Oh, wait, the meisters! I sight myself at the meisters to see if they're still— Shite. They're gone. . . . I stood up and pats my brown dress. "Oh, well... I guess I'm out of luck. Well, time to go— wait, a sec..." My eyes got sight onto a red shiny brooch. Oooh... it's cool! There's a combination of red and black color in the stone... But this symbol... wait... I uselessly smelled the brooch, and stared it for a while. Then I realized, it belonged to one of the meisters from before! "If they dropped this important thing... weren't they will be in-ow-owww-owowowow..." My back still hurts from falling over a fence. "Ungh... whoever it is that implanted the wooden fence must've been a stupid carpenter! Hmph!" I relentlessly squawk at the pain on my back. "But still... those meisters lost an important item... I might need to return it to them... lessseeeeeeee...." I took the path and ran into the sidewalks. Then, I scanned the area. Nope, not a single caped man in sight, not even a strange man can be found. It's just the Helmington people and little old me! "Huft..." I pouted. I don't like it when an important item being left off, weren't they gonna get scolded when they notice they don't have it with them? Poor guys... "Lessee... eh... it's 19:25, eh? It looks like if I can shift it a little... things might work out real good!" "Whelp! Let's do this thing." I touched my belt momentarily, shortly, my belt lits up in cyan-colored light and emits a circular illusion of a clock ticking. [Clockwork Phase One - Time Return!] The world stopped moving... and starting to move backwards like a rewind. I tried to determine which time did those meisters appear... I think it's around fifteen minutes ago? Okay, let's go with that first. The clock illusion moves backwards along with the world I'm standing on. I didn't return to the place I go to fifteen minutes ago. Which means... I altered the timeline a little. . . . Aaaaaand... stop! Fifteen minutes have I returned. Now... for the finishing... [Clockwork - Continue!] ... ... --Streets of Helmington, 1910 hours-- The world returned back to active timeline once again, but with me being on a different place than the ones fifteen minutes ago. Okay... now just to wait for those meisters to come by. I didn't have the brooch with me, the time return ability made objects that I didn't wear return back to its previous place. Twelve minutes later, the group of caped man from before arrived again. This time, I don't bother listening to them, because I felt a bit exhausted from using the skill before. When I walked away, I heard a sudden clanking noise... followed by a rumble of clothing. I rushed into the voice's source... it's from the place from before! "What the...?" I got stunned after looking here. Two cats were fighting against each other and one of them hit the fence behind it. I dismissed the clashing cats because I saw the same view again from before. The brooch. The Meister's Brooch. It's still there. . . . I hate to repeat something again, so I decided to take the brooch with me and headed home. "Nggaaah..." I thought I could get them back their important stuff... but it seems the 'fate' says otherwise, huh...? I reached my apartment. A three story apartment. My room is on the second floor, though. "I wonder what mommy and daddy would be doing now...?" My parents worked for the government outside this city since I was twelve. They asked me to come along with them, but I refused, because I loved Helmington too much, hehe. They bought me a room here in this apartment and until now, I'm still using it. I went inside and closed the door, thus locking it afterwards. I sighed a long breath, "How exhausting today..." I exaggeratingly said. Ten minutes later, I already had my body on the couch. I put off my hat, shoes, and gloves. "Hm... how am I supposed to return this brooch, eh...? Uwaaargh! I hate it, I hate it when it's like this! I super HATE IT when my powers don't work the way I want it to be, aaagh!" I pouted over and over, kicking the poor couch. *ding-dong* My doorbell was sounded. I took a quick jump and headed to the door. "Yes...?" I answered the door. "Mailman." Oh. Who could've sent me a mail in this evening, anyway? I accepted the mail and let the mailman took off. "Lesseee...." I examined the envelope he gave to me. From there I saw the Crimson Meister symbol... Could this be! They're inviting me to join their ranks? Oh, god! "T-T-This isn't a dream... r-r-r-right...?" I pinched my cheek a bit, ouch, it hurts. OK, I'm not dreaming, although it's already time for me to go to bed. "Okayokayokayokayokay- *ding-dong* My doorbell rang again. I rushed to the door and opened it slightly. "Ahahaha... Pardon me, ma'am... that message was meant for next door, I just realized I misread the address. Thousands of sorry, ma'am. If I may have it back..." A dim silence. The mailman took back the unopened envelope and thanked me before headed next door. I closed the door and felt gloomed by the 'false-hope' I'm upbringing... Maybe I'm just not yet seen as a perfect mage here... huhuhu... I eventually went to bed after taking my dress off. What a depressing evening... I thought I'm gonna get a chance to enter the famous mage organization... oh, well... maybe a stroller like me does not yet have the chance. Sigh...
