Prologue

It was the winter of 1977 when Janet first moved to Gasquet California. She had no friends or family so she was feeling lost and alone. She soon got her first job at the local fish plant. It was nasty and smelly, but the money was good so she stuck with it. About two months later she met a nice young man named Nathen. They hit it off from the start. It was like they were the only two people in the world. They were so happy the got married that Summer and nine months later there I was.      I had the most amazing childhood. Every Summer we would go on vacation. Usually we would go somewhere near water. Either to places like Florida, or Oregon always camping at the beaches. Or we would go to water parks. They were always fun. We would play in the pools and water slides.      Everything was wonderful. My parents were always together. They were always smiling, always happy, and just so much in love. And of course they loved me. I never saw them fight, never heard them yell at each other. And they never yelled at me.  Even when I was a pain in the butt I was never spanked or hurt in any way. I know I know things sound to go to be true right, something is going to go wrong right. Well you are correct.      Yes the fairy tale ended and my world fell apart the day my father died. When he died it nearly destroyed my mother. It was as if her soul was gone. I knew her heart was broken.      Now we were never rich, but we were comfortable. but when dad died it was like all our money just vanished. My mother got a job for the first time in over sixteen years, and I got my first job as well. Even with both of us working we ended up loosing the beautiful house I grew up in. The new house was nice but nothing of my father was there so I started feeling lost and alone.      At first my mother was sympathetic and willing to help me, but she got to used to her life with my father and after a while i started feeling unloved and even resented by my mother. It was like that for a while then one day she started becoming happy again. I thought it was great, maybe she founds a new friend. I was happy she was happy. What I didn't know was her happiness would come at my expense.     Two weeks later I met Steven. He was so nice and sweet. We talked about everything. He was so sympathetic and loving or so I thought. But when my seventeenth birthday came around everything changed. And this is where our story starts.
