Third Person’s POV One accident that changed her life forever. One night, Myra was walking hand in hand with her fiancée, Bruce, on the sidewalk. She wanted an ice-cream, and being his fiancée he couldn’t deny her of her wants. He asked her to wait there, and he would cross the road and get it for her. One minute, Bruce was telling her to wait and next he was lying on the road, bleeding heavily. Myra screamed, “Bruce,” but not before she got the number of the car memorized who had hit Bruce. She also saw the driver throwing whiskey bottle out of the window and speeding away from the scene. People started gathering around, shocked and appalled at the car driver for drinking and driving. Also, for escaping through the scene without even looking once at the victim’s condition. Someone called the ambulance and Myra took Bruce to the hospital. Once they reached the hospital, Bruce was immediately taken to the emergency room for the treatment. Myra was crying and praying for her fiancée’s wellbeing. She immediately called both the families and told them about Bruce’s accident. Upon hearing this, both families came rushing to the hospital. When Myra’s mother, Pamela Adams, reached the hospital, she came rushing towards her daughter and hugged her. Her step-father, Simon Adams, and younger step-sister, Tahira Adams, also tried to console Myra. Bruce’s mother, Molly Bell, was also devastated and her husband, Bruce’s father, Peter Bell, consoled her. Also, both parents thanked Myra for saving their son’s life and for bringing him to the hospital. Meanwhile, a police officer came to inquire about the accident. He listened to the whole story told by Myra and promised them that the culprit will be held guilty and very strict action will be taken against the culprit. He then left the hospital, to get hold of the owner of that car. After several hours, the doctor informed them, that Bruce had been lucky to be alive. He had gotten a fracture in his left leg and right hand. Some minor wounds and a concussion. He won’t be conscious until the next 24 hours. He would be kept under their surveillance for a few days and then would be discharged. Reluctant Myra was forced to go home and rest. She didn’t want to leave Bruce alone but his family assured her they would look after him. Still, after Myra went home with her family, she couldn’t sleep. The whole night she tossed around, unable to sleep. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying continuously. Eventually, the next morning came, and Myra with her mother visited Bruce. His mother Pamela was also there. After a few minutes, the same police officer from yesterday came. With a smug smile on his face, he brought a bag with himself. After pleasantries were exchanged, he informed the family that the culprit is a very high- profile man and so they need to take the case back. As no one would dare to question him or go against him. And he had even sent fifty-thousand dollars for the victim’s medical bills. Upon hearing this, Myra was boiling with anger. She couldn’t believe the nerve of the culprit. She screamed at the officer, “We don’t need his money. We need his apology. We need justice!” “I would say as a family please rethink your decision. Going against him can ruin all your family forever,” the police officer said. “Go and tell that culprit that either he apologizes or should I assume he is not man enough to do that,” Myra hissed. The police officer left the hospital, taking back the money to the culprit. And the culprit was none other than, Raymond Knight also known as RK. He was the most powerful businessman in Vancouver. People looked up to him. He also had an image of a bad boy and was the favorite of women. At the age of twenty-nine, he had amassed fame, money, and power, in huge capacity. He was devilishly handsome, with black eyes, black hair, 6’3” height and chiseled body, as if he was sculpted by God. He was also known for his arrogance and was a cocky bastard. Once the police officer reached the RK mansion, he reported to RK’s personal assistant, Brian Smith. “I’m sorry to inform but the victim’s family isn’t accepting money. They want RK sir to apologize,” he said nervously. Brian chuckled, “What did you say? RK sir to apologize? Are you high or something?” The police officer then told Brian about what happened in the hospital. Hearing this Brian was beyond angry. “I have handled many such cases for RK sir in past. And you weren’t able to handle even one? Go back to your duty and don’t ever show your face here again.” Brian insulted the police officer and had him thrown out of the mansion. This hurt the police officer’s ego and he called the press and told them about hit and run case of RK, to take the revenge for his insult. The news spread like fire in the forest. It was past seven and RK was working out in his personal gym in the mansion. While running on a treadmill he was watching the news on TV and currently the hot topic on every news channel was his ‘hit and run case.’ He immediately shouted, “Brian.” “Yes sir,” Brian was confused that what had made RK sir suddenly angry? “What the hell is this? Can’t you handle even simple things like these now? Do I need to fire you and hire another assistant for myself?” he screamed at Brian. Brian was shocked at how come press got to know about it. Someone must have given information to the press purposely. RK was fuming with anger, upon hearing people comment on his reckless behavior. He got off from the treadmill and told Brian to step up on it. He set the treadmill to maximum speed and let Brian do the walking. Brian was a fit man and regularly did his exercise. But he was wearing dress shoes and that was causing a problem for him to run on the treadmill. RK hissed, “Your brain doesn’t work. At least make use of feet and keep running until I tell you to stop.” Brian knew that it was worthless to say anything to RK or else his punishment would be doubled. The press keeps degrading RK’s reputation and praises Myra Adams for filing a case against him. RK fumes with anger and only one thing was on his mind- to take revenge from Myra Adams for insulting him in front of everyone. To make her pay tenfold.
