Lalya's P.O.V Tonight's the night, the Alpha King is hosting a grand ball at the castle and everyone has to go. Personally I would rather stay at home, but I have no choice as my mother is making me go. I'm running a little late and as I walk up the path, I can see my mother through the window, pacing back and forth. “Why is this girl always late? Where are you Layla?” I heard my mother say, just as I walked through the door. “I'm right here, damn mom, I'm only ten minutes late. What's the rush?” I said, walking to the fridge to get a soda, as she stood there glaring at me, following my every move. “Get upstairs and get ready. The King wants everyone there, that means you too. Your dress is on your bed, go get ready.” She snapped at me, god she is tense. “Fine, I'll be back down in a few minutes.” I replied, grunting as I walked up the stairs to my room. When I opened my door, that's when I saw it, the dreadful dress. I hate dresses and she knows it. I'm really a tomboy at heart, I enjoyed climbing trees and jumping off the roof, while scaring my friends. I stepped towards it, but I didn't see my shoes and tripped over them, causing my soda to fly out of my hand and land on the dress. “Whoops, she's going to kill me. I didn't do it on purpose, I tripped.” I said out loud, smirking to myself as I got up and walked over to my closet, I pulled out a pair of dress pants and a black lacy blouse. I took a quick shower, dried off and then got ready. I pulled my hair into a french braid and looked down at the make-up my mom had laid out, but I didn't bother with that. I'm not what you would call a girly girl. I look at myself in my full length mirror then head back downstairs to my mom. “What the hell happened to your dress? Nevermind we don't have time to get you a new one, your father will be late. We need to hurry up. Get your ass in the car!” My mom snapped, not even giving me a chance to answer. At times like this it sometimes made me wonder if she ever wanted me. The way she would talk to me and treat me at times, made me feel worthless. I rolled my eyes at her, sighed and got in the car. She started it up and sped off as fast as she could. “MOM! SLOW DOWN!” I yelled, but it only made her go faster, shaking her head. We got there in record time, we pulled into a parking spot then jumped out heading into the huge castle. “Well Layla, you look stunning.” My father said, meeting us at the castle doors. He took mom's hand in his and led us inside. My eyes felt huge as I looked around, this place is beautiful. Dad led us into the ballroom, there were so many people there, chatting away with their own kind. My mom and dad nodded to everyone as we made our way to our table, I set myself down, just as a guard walked on the stage, clearing his throat. “Ladies and Gentlemen, you are here tonight for one reason only. The King wants to find his mate tonight, he thinks it's time after all these years. So ladies please be patient, when it's time you will be called back so he can meet you.” The guard said and that announcement caused all the ladies to start rambling on, thinking they would be his mate. I just sat there listening, bored out of my mind. “Where are you going, sweetie?” My dad asked, as I got up from my chair. “I'm just going to walk around, my legs are getting stiff from sitting down.” I replied. “Alright honey, don't go too far.” My dad said, I just nodded then walked off. My eyes couldn't help but scan the Alpha's, they always seem so high and mighty, what with all the money and glory from their businesses. Next was the Beta's, they seem like they have money, but they looked fake with all the jewellery and make-up on. Then you have the Gamma's, then the Delta's and then finally us, the Omega's. They all looked like they tried to dress up, but I think they went over the top with their make-up and fake eyelashes. I couldn't help but shake my head as I walked past them with my drink in my hand, not paying attention to where I was walking. I bumped right into an Alpha male. “What the hell are you doing? You ruined my jacket.” He said, annoyed. “I...I...I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sir.” I replied, now I really felt out of place. “You Omega b***h, guards escort her to the King, I'll be right behind you.” He said, taking off his so-called ruined jacket and following the guards. They took me behind some curtains, then down the hall towards the throne room. They pushed me inside and I fell to the floor. “Hey you assholes, was that necessary?” I snapped at them, but they didn't say a word. The guards suddenly bowed, as I closed my eyes, did I really just say that in front of the Alpha King? I turned slightly and winced, goddess I did. I looked down, shook my head, stood up and turned around, looking into the Alpha King's bright hazel-green eyes. He wasn't at all what I expected, he was very tall and muscular and had long dark hair. He was very handsome and looked quite young considering he has been alive for over a million years. “Bow down to your King, you stupid Omega.” I heard from behind me, turning to see that asshole of an Alpha walk into the room, bowing to the King. “What is the meaning of this Ethan?” The King said, clearing his throat. “This low life of an Omega spilled wine on my jacket and ruined it.” Alpha Ethan responded, showing the king his jacket. I could have swore I saw the King roll his eyes at the stupid Alpha. I shake my head and turn back to look at the king. “Ethan you may leave.” The Alpha King said and Alpha Ethan turned, smirking at me as he walked away. “b***h, care to explain to me what happened?” The Alpha King said, which caused me to be slightly taken aback by what he called me. “First I am not a b***h, thank you very much. I was only walking around because to tell you the truth, I was bored out of my mind. I didn't mean to bump into him and I sure didn't mean to spill my drink, that would be wasteful wouldn't it? And I did say I was sorry that I didnt mean to bump into him, but he told the guards to bring me here and those stupid guards threw me to the floor.” I said, pointing to the guards, not leaving out a single detail. The Alpha King's P.O.V I couldn't help but listen to her ramble on about nothing. This woman in front of me was quite beautiful and she was feisty, she was short but not too short and she had the most beautiful, piercing sky blue eyes, with dark hair. She looked a little muscular too from what I could see of her figure. “That's enough, no more rambling. Let her go back to her mother, I'll tend to her later on.” I said, holding up my hand as I commanded the guards. She just stood there in silence, as the guards approached her. “Before you go back to your mother, what is your name?” I asked her, she just shrugged and tilted her head to the side. “It's Layla Bliss, nothing special.” She replied. I just nodded and watched as the guards escorted her out. Layla's P.O.V I walked back to our table and plonked myself down, Goddess I couldn't wait for this night to be over. “Layla what did you do?” My mother asked, glaring at me. “Calm down, I didn't do anything.” I replied, stopping her before she went on at me. We looked to the stage as the guard got back up to speak again. “Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come. Please if the Alpha ladies would follow the guard and meet the King to see if you are his mate.” The guard said and they all got up at once, trying to beat each other to where the guards were. “Follow me.” One guard said, once they had all calmed down. I couldn't help but watch in amusement at these ladies that were so power hungry. Not me, no way could I be like that, when it's time for the Omega's, I'm just going to sit here and watch. The Alpha King’s P.O.V I sat here on my throne watching as they all scurried into the room, each one as power hungry as the next. You could see it in their eyes. They all came prancing up to me one by one, hoping I would pick them. “Enough, bring in the Beta's.” I said, watching the Alpha females walk out, sure enough the Beta's did exactly the same. Each time my mind kept going back to Layla, she was brave standing up to me and not bowing down in fear. She wore no make-up and had the nerve not to wear a dress, but what she felt comfortable in. “Enough, bring in the Gamma's.” I said, yet again. They entered the room and pranced up to me one by one. One girl had way too much perfume on and it caused me to nearly choke, when she walked up to me. I just shook my head and waved to them to go. “Enough, bring in the Delta's.” I said, this is an ongoing cycle. The Delta's pranced in and did the same. This went on for hours, I was getting tired and bored with seeing the clown faces of these she-wolves. “Enough, bring in the Omega's.” I said, hoping to see Layla, but when they walked in she wasn't there. She wasn't power hungry like all the other she-wolves. “Enough, I have made my mind up.” I said and the Omega's walked out back to the ball. Layla's P.O.V When all the Omega's were called I just sat there, I knew the King wouldn't want to see me, he hated me and there was no way I was going to go back there again. They were gone for a few hours. When they walked back in, they were all nervous, but I just sat there, playing on my phone like nothing was going on. “Mom, Can we go now? Where is dad?” I asked, rolling my eyes as the others took their seats. “No we cannot and he had to leave to go back to the office.” She replied and I just nodded. I hardly ever saw dad, he was always working so much just to take care of us. He tried his best. Suddenly, everyone stopped talking, I put my phone down and looked to the stage, where the Beta was now standing, taking the microphone from the guard. “Ladies please stand up, the King will be here in just a second.” Beta Ron said and as soon as he finished talking the King came on stage, taking the microphone away from him. “Ladies, all of you were kind enough to come in to see me, everyone of you is just beautiful….your just not the one for me.” The Alpha King said and all you could hear were sobs, they couldn't believe he didn't think any of them were his mate. “Furthermore, I would like to announce that I have found my mate. She's a feisty one and not power hungry like all of you. You all look like clowns wearing all this make-up. Who are you trying to impress? Surely not I?” The Alpha King continued. My eyes bulged as I tried my hardest not to laugh at his statement. “Therefore, I would like to call Layla Bliss to the stage and please welcome her as your next queen.” The Alpha King said, smiling. What the hell? I immediately felt my face drop as the shock of what he just said sunk in. “Oh hell no!” I said, as I got up and started to run out the door.
